OK Cullen thread, need some advise about my first Cullen romance playthrough. Do I go with the British voice or American voice? In the end, I'll be doing both just to compare. But I figured some of you have already beaten me to it. Which of the voices go better during the romance dialogue? Or are they both similar enough that the difference is negligible?

It really all depends on what type of character you are playing. I tend to go with the British voice for more formal, diplomatic IQ's. I go with Sumalee's voice for more direct, sassy, naughty IQ's. They both do a great job. If you'd like comparisons, I have them - they'd be spoilers however.

Wouldn't bother me. I like spoilers. They're great time-savers.

I second MelissaGT. It all depends on the personalities you're giving them. I have a dwarven rogue with AWR's voice that fits her perfectly (manipulative and used to fencing, er, selling goods to noble houses,) and a Dalish planned with Sumalee's voice that I think will fit well (she's a bit earthier and more aggressive.)

I do! Let me see....I have four more planned. It's just going to take quite a bit of time because I need so much in-game footage for them. "Victoriam Speramus" took over 75 individual clips to make. And one of the ones I have planned needs romance footage from every possible relationship, so I either have to play them all, or reach out to the fandom. Who knows, maybe that's the way to go. I'm sure there's folks out there that'd love to see their IQ's incorporated into a vid - it would just be hard to keep the quality of the vid the same with all the various settings that folks use for their games. I record my games in 1080p 60 and I know a lot of folks don't. I also use SweetFX, which changes the look of the game a lot. Also, if you've noticed, there's quite a bit of flycam footage used, especially with "Familiar Taste of Poison." The good thing is that I already have songs picked out for each one. I've noticed that my music choices are very different from all the other fan-made vids I've seen so far, which is cool because I like being different.
I'm not going to give details away, but the ones I have planned are:
Reaver!Trevelyan x Cullen
Reaver!Trevelyan in general (sorta like "Victoriam Speramus" with Rhiannon)
Dalish!Lavellan x Cullen
All romance appreciation vid
And maybe you guys could convince me to do a Lavellan x Solas one - I know I'd rock it. And I know the perfect song.
Regulars in this thread need to stick around and you will see them!
Sounds fun! I'd love to see a Lavellan x Solas one, what class were you considering for your Dalish?

So, since we've been talking about Sebastian Appreciation Week, and since this is related to Cullen, I thought I'd share a little drabble I once wrote and will never continue.
If anyone's ever read my opus Knight's Bloom, it features a brief Cullen-Hawke-Seb triangle, that of course eventually goes Cullen's way. I did the soul killing exercise, once upon a time, of imagining a sort of "sliding doors" alternate reality of something stopping Hawke from reconciling with Cullen at one point and instead sending her back to Sebastian. It was an interesting story... but ultimately it was too painful to do that to my favorite characters I've ever written. So I didn't finish it. Seb Appreciation Week seemed like a good time to share the beginning, which I think turned out rather nice.

She's going to be an archer - I haven't decided on Artificer or Assassin yet. I'm not sure if Assassin would work as a ranged class, but I think that's what I would go with if it does. She's a loner - total Sniper mentality. Hates humans - doesn't really even like her own people. It's going to be an interesting story.
I'm also kinda hoping to trigger the polyamory bug with Solas as well...for science. ![]()

I agree with this too. My Dalish (rogue/assassin) character had the American accent because I felt it fit her better.

I finally did it! I finished my facial self insert! What a PITA that was - meet Thedosia "Theo" Trevelyan:

I don't have red eyes, but she's going to be a Reaver, so the eye color will make perfect sense when she takes the spec.
And btw, Theo will totally throw you down a hill if you call her by her real name. ![]()

Reska is an archer assassin, and it works well so far. Yeah, I'm planning a Dalish rogue, for the polyamory bug if it works (Cullen if it doesn't,) but DW, possibly tempest since that's supposed to give you some great melee defense. I actually adore rogues most, but I almost never play them on my first PT or two. I never took to archer in DAO, but I've enjoyed it so far. DW is my favorite, though. She's going to be an archer - I haven't decided on Artificer or Assassin yet. When I play my Dwarf IQ for Blackwall she will be a dual-dagger Tempest. It's a very fun spec to play.

he obviously attracts the rogues!
I've heard a few times that archer assassin's are good but never tried. Think I'm going Artificer with my archer (cause not rping a sniper, more ranger type archer)

I find it difficult to imagine the assassin abilities as an archer, do you know which ones you took?
I think artificer works as a ranger, trapping etc but still not sure

Artificer is pretty much built for archers, so yeah. The traps are meant to be placed from stealth and ran away from, the elemental bombs are your crowd control when your ranger get swarmed with meleers, the Fallback Plan puts you back in range when you're too up close, and the focus ability, Hail of Arrows, only works for archers, unlike the other specs. (and incidentally is the most deliciously OP focus ability ever

My partner is sitting not too far away with his back to me thankfully so I don't have to explain why, he already delights in teasing me about Cullen and he'd have a field day with his!
