She's going to be an archer - I haven't decided on Artificer or Assassin yet. I'm not sure if Assassin would work as a ranged class, but I think that's what I would go with if it does. She's a loner - total Sniper mentality. Hates humans - doesn't really even like her own people. It's going to be an interesting story.

I'm also kinda hoping to trigger the polyamory bug with Solas as well...for science.

Archer Assassin is a bada$$, so fear not if you want to go that way ;)

My canon Lavellan is an Archer Artificer, though, and while not as powerful she is a lot of fun. Its good times stealthing around dropping traps and watching them go boom.

I have an archer assassin. Really fun and VERY powerful. I deal 1000+ damage all the time.

I got an assassin (deleted now...), the damage is VERY high. The thing with DW assassin is that this specialization it's a kind of double edge: you deal super high damage but you got killed in a few hit. So the game is to kill the enemy without getting hit (there's skills that can help you jump avoid while attacking) before you got killed...

Here are two posts someone put up about archer assassin specs that I've been relying on. The first one is based on subterfuge and the second on poisons I think.

Cool - I think I'm going to go with Stealth Assassin. I made her eyes look like a panther's, so I love the idea of making her a stealthy predator.  :D

This is basically a failed piece of Edge Lighting trial... It's done with marker and ink in one go so I can't correct anything.

Just my new contribution for Sebastian Appreciation Week.

So I really want to get into the new DLC, but I'm awaiting a refund from Dell for my busted Alienware (you guys were SO right and I really should've listened)Anyways, aside from the five month computer setback - I be missing the Dragon Age - and have gotten the fanfic itch back! Otherwise, I have no lore specific comments to add /sadface. I shall lurk until I find something I can comment on!

I find it difficult to imagine the assassin abilities as an archer, do you know which ones you took?

I think artificer works as a ranger, trapping etc but still not sure

mainly the throw knife one, or the one where you mark them and accumulate damage.

There's a bunch of crit damage buffs with it too.

I feel like a terrible author right now, but it shall continue! Glad someone will still read! :D

I still have a kiliel fic and now Loki (Avengers/Marvel) fic in the works too. Trying the whole write ahead of myself deal this time around. /endselfpromotions

A really bad reputation if you were to ask me. I had to go through 3 months of trouble shooting, on-site techs, and sending it to the black void that is their depot - for them to finally admit that my computer has a chronic and completely screwed CPU cooling system. So, here I am waiting for a refund that could take a month to process /grumbles. Only got 75 days out of it. I'm pretty sure that speaks for itself.

Ah, too bad I don't know a thing about Loki fandom except that I love his look & from the crying scene from the film with his Dad his acting is great (never saw the movies... or the books).

Well well, I'll note that about ALienware then. I got a Dell once but it's not Alienware & I did a few mechanical simulation there for work & it works like wonder.

Alienware is now owned by Dell, and yes Dell has a 1-star rating on Yelp (out of 5 stars). It's very bad. I'd say you're one of the very lucky ones based on what I've seen/heard.

Idk actually, that computer was at work. Everyone in the office get a Dell & I did lots of heavy-duty mechanical finite element simulation for engineering and everyone keep saying that Dell's computer is really good at it. But we don't use it for gaming actually & its graphic was not really good anyway. Hehe I'll keep in mind not to buy Dell if ever I get a new computer one day ;)

Thanks!

Haha I've never read/followed the comics, so I'll be coming from a movie - verse (Thor/Avengers) plotline. Yes, Hiddleston is pretty good looking. Anyways, I'll keep the Loki love off the Cullen forum XD

Yeah, Alienware isn't worth buying into and the only reason I could get a refund was due to them discontinuing the 18s. I would've cried if I got stuck with a new 17.

If only I could put together a desktop, which is what I'm looking at now since laptops seem to be a bad spot across the board right now from what I've read. I've looked into ibuypower, which seems to have mixed reviews and digital storm, but their up sale on having an i7 is an auto no go for me.

Hmm I got an Alien this past november I think it was, after my [last] computer went bust. I don't believe in their hype but I needed a new pc right away (so building one wasn't really an option.) And the financing was better than the equivalent dell so I went with the alien. I haven't had any problems with mine and it runs DA:I on ultra like a breeze so I can't say anything bad about it. Makes me sad that people have had problems though. :\

I had my desktop custom built by CyberPowerPC and am very happy with it. I started with one of ~$1500 packages and tweaked everything, including case, PSU, cooler, and GPU. All in all I ended up at around $2,000. I'm pretty sure they still offer builds based off the i5, if that's what you're looking for.

If you do with a custom build, just make sure you stay away from any of their pre-built "off the shelf" systems. That's where people end up with problems, since most of the parts are generic and thrown together. If you customize and pick all name-brand components you should have much better luck. My system was packed well, shipped well, and very nicely put together. All wiring was well done and neatly secured.

I'll never get a laptop. My b/f has one and I can't stand it. It gets hot and needs a special cooling pad, which is louder than my desktop when he's gaming. The screen is too small. The keyboard is difficult to use. Not for me. I like my 27" screen. If I want to game in the living room, I just flip a button and my desktop is there on the TV. If I need to use a computer for browsing while remaining mobile I'll just use my tablet. Yeah, I don't like laptops - at all. You can't change components or clean them with ease. My desktop case has cleanable screens to help mitigate dust/hair getting in. If I need a new component I can just open it up and swap it out. Soooo much easier to maintain.

Yeah, it was a beast of a machine for the first few weeks of owning weeks it. If it hadn't developed a overheating CPU then I'm sure it would've been solid. My only word of advice is to monitor the crap out of the temps and make sure your fans are kicking on at the right temps. My CPU fan never came on and would start up at 90 which is too late to save it from shutting down. Also should you ever have a problem directly request a tech who knows alienware, otherwise you'll end up with someone who makes it worse.

It would've been great for film editing and graphics work too given the sli, but it never maintained heat.

Hope yours stays steady.it seems like if you get a good one you'll likely not have many problems, but alienware as a whole has zero quality control.

Ah gotcha. I'm just wary about dealing with another computer company's tech support so I was looking at what they sale via best buy and tigerdirect. Suppose I'll consider buying directly from one of them. Oh and I want an i7. Digital storm just charges out the butt for any model with an i7. And I mean it only comes into play above the 2000 price range.

This Alienware stuff makes me sad to read. :( I never had any problems with the Alienware desktops I got back in 2006 and 2009. My parents still have the 2006 one (which still works), while I use the 2009 one. The only original parts in my computer, though, are the case fans and one of the hard drives. I've replaced everything else over the years. Sorry you guys have had so many problems!

You definitely want to stay away from anything they sell "off the shelf" in Best Buy or Newegg, etc. Those pre-built systems often use all generic parts and are poorly put together. 90% of the bad reviews I read for CyberPowerPC are by folks that buy pre-built, and it's due to exploding generic PSU's. I wouldn't even put their custom-built systems into the same ballpark. I'd imagine it's the same with Digital Storm or iBuyPower. I haven't needed tech support in the 14 months I've had my system, but I did send in a couple questions (nothing was wrong, just had questions) and I got answered within 24hrs. They also have a great forum with active user support to help with any issues before going to tech support. My b/f's laptop is by CyperPowerPC and he's very happy with it as well (even though it's a laptop, lol).

In terms of pricing, their stuff seems very reasonable. You can get an i7 system for around $1,000. Of course, the price goes up (a lot) depending on what i7 you want, GPU, RAM, etc. I have the i7 4820k and am very happy with it.

If I don't build my own system next time around, I would definitely buy from them again.
