So, after finishing Hushed Whispers there is the cutscene where the advisors talk about your decision.

When he asked my character why she chose the alliance, I picked "Mages deserve respect like everyone else", which got an angry response from him: " THIS ISN'T ABOUT RESPECT!!".

I noped the helll outta there and reloaded the save file from the fight against Alexius.

If my Inquisitor is to romance Cullen, I'd like them to get along and not just during romantic moments.

TBH, I find he has a jerky response on both sides no matter what you choose. I'm not sure why they wrote him that way to be disappointed in your choice no matter what. I reloaded the heck out of the end of Champions of the Just, re-fought the miniboss each time, to no avail. I think you can squint at it and say he was upset. In all cases, it doesn't affect your romance because, you know, no approval. <_<  But I think it also follows from his character that he's not all peaches and cream... despite the romanticization we see in the fandom.

For me I also took it as him being a bit pissed that the Quizzy made the decision and took it out of their hands esp since you're just an "agent" at the time and not in the position to make such decision without consultation. Least that's how I viewed it, not so much "omg the mages/templars?!?! really?"

How similar do you think a that breastplate would be for a male?

Same shape/design, just flatten for the chest?

Yeah, I'd think exactly the same except flat around his manboobs. I'd probably preserve the midriff too instead of a full breastplate down to the hips, just so it doesn't look like Meredith is showing tummy because she's a ~girl, you know. Also, Cullen in a midriff plate top with chainmail underneath. Yum.

So question for you guys with better memories than I.

Where is Cullen at the end of the fight at Adamant, when you return from the Fade? Is he still there? Do you see him at all when you come out and do your speeches about the Wardens and all that? Or do you only see him again once you're back at Skyhold? I am embarrassed to admit that all I remember from my most recent playthrough are Solas and Alistair.

He's not there, you don't see him until you're back in Skyhold unfortunately

EDIT: That was one thing that did disappoint me really, no "Are you alright? I was worried I lost you" not just from him but from any of the LIs that weren't taken etc

Yeah, I think this makes more sense than "mages! templars! oh my!" Esp since he's grumpy no matter how you choose it. Conscript the templars. Don't conscript the templars. He's pissed.

Mmmm.... in Knight's Bloom I imagined the dress version of his Knight-Commander armor was a male version of Meredith's. And, I love the fancy chainmail underneath, and how it would accentuate his broad shoulders and trim waist. yum.

What's interesting to me, tho, is that the templar skirts in DA:I are more culotte-like, with two separate pieces around each leg, like Mer's armor in those concept arts, in contrast to the other templar skirts in DA2, which are all animated as a single piece of clothing. I never noticed that about Mer's armor before... and I *have* looked at it a lot. LOL

I'm inclined to take it like this too now, after replaying that scene enough times to have a good look at what they're saying. Cullen is more exhasperated that you, a mere agent, took the decision-making out of the board of advisors' hands, than that the fact that you helped the [faction of your choice] at all. At that point you're not their leader, and you're seriously overstepping your station in the Inquisition - so much that Cassandra has to back you up with variations of "well she had no choice and ya'll weren't there to make a better one in her place" to make the three of them dial it down.

Yeah, I really love the legs in Meredith's armor, it looks like she's wearing leathers with culottes and plate and the sash rather than a single skirt. Picture Cullen in just the leathers and the chainmail shirt, putting on all the extra layers on top of that... *loooooong dreamy sigh*

Well, the battle's still on down in the open plains, right? You're only gone for a moment in the Fade and then you're back - the Wardens you meet on your way back are the same ones that were there when you disappeared, and we can presume that Cullen is still leading the troops against the demons attacking outside the hold when you come out. He probably didn't even hear about your adventures in the Fade and the death of (whoever was left behind) until hours later, when the battle was over and you could all regroup.

Point taken lol

I guess it's just little lack of acknowledgement in my mind about all the crap the quizzy goes through from their LI. As you pointed out there's sometimes good reasoning but I still would of liked a little "are you okay?" afterwards even if it was hours later... I know we get the balcony scene after the ball and the chapel with him but I dunno... it's hard to explain

No, I get what you mean. I always do Abyss before starting Cullen's romance (I prefer to start it after Perseverance, so I need to finish Abyss first to trigger that quest and only then romance him), so I hadn't noticed the lack of response there much, to be honest. But I do agree that if you do Abyss after you already started romancing him, or even late in your romance, if you do it after the Orlesian ball, it would feel pretty weird to come back from a near-death experience and have your love interest not say anything or show much concern about it either way.

Yes but ... some companions you didn't bring with you are very upset against you from "disappearing" in the fade like Dorian. Or/and Sera i think. So why Cullen don't say anything about it ? Just sad :/

Exactly!! I generally take the main quest pretty slowly and pace the romance so by the time I've done the Abyss they generally have been "together" for a bit. But you would think if that was your partner/romance even for a little bit you'd showed some concern.

Actually Nine (if you don't mind me still calling you that) I'm curious with starting the romance like that, do you avoid all the romance options prior to starting it or you need to take some to romance him after Perseverance?

Haha... there's only one thing that you could write which I would consider evil and well... may cry haha

And that would depend on which fanfic you're writing... lol (in my head I'm saying "oh please don't let it be..... please!" lol)

(sure, nine is fine. ;) nine, river, dimmie, 's all good)

You don't really have to do anything special to do the romance that way, just don't use the dialogue option to "Talk about us" as that triggers the kiss scene. I usually take all the flirt options prior to that in their due time to pace the romance out, saving only a few like the Kirkwall flirt and those really personal questions about his family for later. Then, when Perseverance is done and I feel the timing for their relationship is right, I use the Kirkwall flirt (I feel that one is almost a confession from Cullen) and trigger the kiss scene to really kickstart the romance.

(I do this mostly because by the time my main IQ does Abyss she's seeing Blackwall and building very slow burning feelings for Cullen, so I want to get the timing for both relationships right)

But it's no special trick, just save the kiss scene for when you're ready to take it. Otherwise, you can take all the other flirts as you wish. :D

lol no, don't worry. It's just a new little ficlet I'm working on where I have to decide exactly where Cullen, and others, were at that moment and how long the inquisitor was in the Fade. So this is all… Relevant to my interests. but not really very evil.

Just peeking in after being CRAZY busy!!  And I see that R2 is working on a fanfic!  Yay!  Everything is still right with the world!!

Also, I made a tumbler account, though I am not sure exactly what to do with it. I think I may use it to post poetry?  It seems like a good forum to do that...

Anyway...I followed those of you I could find, etc!

I always liked the braided/woven sash thingie just above the skirt. You know, this thing:

Last_straw_2.jpg

(and the one in DA:O looked just as intricate). But seriously that whole ensemble looked like hell to take on and off. Sure the skirt looks like easy access, but you know they probably have more armor and leather and whatnot underneath. Still, I would have loved to have seen Cullen in a male version of what Meredith wore (minus the circlet). Ah well. One can dream (or hope an enterprising modder swaps out his clothes :D )

Meredith went nutters, but dammit she had great fashion sense (source img)!

dragon-age-inspiration.jpg

It is a great piece.  Very distinctive.  I'm the odd one who doesn't like the circlet but then again I hate most of the helms. lol

The one thing I thought DA2 had really right was some of the armor. As someone who's spent a lot of time around re-creationists, most of the armor looks useable (and they avoid the popular-but-dangerous feature of round cups for each boob which actually present a major risk of a blunt force blow driving the edge of the cup into you or breaking your sternum.)

You at least thought about it :P. I forgot he'd been there at the beginning when I wrote about the aftermath; but for a non-romanced IQ, there's no reason he might not have taken the forces back to Skyhold separately without seeing the IQ. (rubbing my hands waiting to see what not-exactly-evil thing you're writing.)

EDITED for writing before finishing my coffee
