I'm curious to know whether this was a flub or intentional, though. We know there was once a book of Shartan, after all. It could be a holdover from Shartan's influence on Andraste, though you'd think the chantry would have noticed and "fixed" that line if so. Unfortunately, the line took me by surprise and the subtitles had vanished before I realized what I'd just heard/read.
Hmm, I haven't gotten as far as the scene where Cullen is praying yet, and I didn't pay that much attention to exactly what he was praying when I watched it on YouTube. I was just startled to notice it (maybe because it was subtexted and reading it struck me where hearing it didn't.) because I'd expect the Chantry to alter the term since they've worked so hard to purge anything elven otherwise. I guess I just assumed anything they wrote for the Chant specifically is supposed to be tied back into that mysterious story of Andraste and Shartan and Maferath and the others. Ah well.
And I'd noticed heaven used, but it's not only a concept in a lot of religions, it's also a generic term for the sky and stars.
It's a standard passage from the Chant of Light, from Trials 1:14 You can see the whole thing here: http://dragonage.wik...of_Light_verses
Of note, an early version of this passage, presumably from DA:O, used the Fade instead of the word Beyond. Beyond was added in the Calling, which used a lot of Chant verses at the start of each chapter. Hard to say whether it's copy error or intentional. But given that they use it in DA:I, seems that Beyond is the "official" version now. That being said... even Ben Gelinas can't iron out all the inconsistencies...
(for ex, Heaven is also a term used in the Chant)
(from the wiki: Dragon Age: The Calling - start of ch12. Note that this article originally included a slightly different version of this verse (citation unknown): I shall not be left to wander the drifting roads of the Fade; For there is no darkness, nor death either, in the Maker's Light. And nothing that He has wrought shall be lost.)
edited to add: LOL For example, even The Last Court uses the original "the Fade" version. ![]()
