This is going around on tumblr now, reminded me of discussions we've had about the distances between all the fast travel spots before: DA:I Travel Times. She recalculated everything from scratch with the updated maps, and accounted for horses too. Great stuff.

Spoiler

Looks pretty good and makes sense, average 20-28 days on foot to the farthest places. Helps time the length of the story better, too, accounting for all this traveling back and forth.

Most folks that have deconstructed have come to this conclusion, but who knows based on what we can't see. (here's the only deconstruction I could easily find from the past; sadly the original is gone) That being said... at least it's more practical than the DA:O armor, which I think was actually unphysical in some ways if a templar actually wanted to move. :P

On his DA:I armor... man, Cullen's character kit was such lost opportunity IMO, because it could have explained exactly what the yellow ribbon thingie is and how his shawl, vest, I-don't-think-it's-a-repurposed-templar-skirt thing actually works.

Interesting. Since you probably have much better photos at fingertips, do you have a really good close up of the armor? At least one thing I see in that deconstruct might have a simpler alternative...

Ok thanks. I prefer to play as an archer or as a mage, but would try Warrior, if worthwhile.

It's totally worthwhile! Riverbanks and I have both played Templar IQ's, with completely different romance dynamics, so you can take the "feel" of the romance in any direction you want!

Not really, unless you romance him specifically as a Templar warrior (you get unique dialogue options with him that way). Otherwise, as a Champion or Reaver, the romance is the same as with a rogue.

Of course, there's the element of roleplay. You might roleplay very different dynamics between Cullen with a Inquisitor who is trained in sword work like him - they could train together, teach other techniques, critique each other's foot work etc; and Cullen with a rogue Inquisitor, for instance, who uses weaponry he doesn't know the first thing about - it might entertain him to watch her fletch her arrows, she might teach him better aiming practices for his throwing knives, etc.

But in practical gameplay terms (scenes, dialogues etc), no, you don't get anything particularly different.

...or roleplay that a dual-dagger rogue runs circles around him in the sparring ring and then climbs his hawt arse like a tree before he even knows what's happening...

Now I need to roll another IQ, this time a dual-dagger rogue just for Cullen! :o  My dual-dagger was going to be a dwarf for Blackwall.

Oh wells, yet another playthrough to add to the list!

Yep.

*sigh* Poor Blackwall. I tried to romance him in a playthrough (rogue) and was like, "Wow, Cullen was better at this." I think I dumped him in record time. The fact that I already knew his er...backstory, probably tainted my playthrough though.

Honestly, his story doesn't bother me at all. I like the Blackwall romance, I just got spoiled with Cullen's because you get soooo much more screentime with him than with any of the other romances.

Honestly, the only way I can romance someone other than Cullen is to roll a gender/race-gated IQ.

Lying always gets me. Even when playing through a character in a fictional setting. "This is a woman you claimed to love and you lied and probably would have never come clean had you not been caught out in that lie." I just automatically nope, Nope, NOPE, right out of it. I freely admit that it's a personal hang-up that spills over into my Inquisitors (or any character I make in an RPG).

I have never been interested in Dwarves or Qunari enough to play one (even in Origins it was Human or Elven). Thank heavens for YouTubers who post the other romances, or I'd probably never see them. :P

I find Blackwell to be very one-downish - too differential, too I-am-unworthy. That and his whole backstory and dishonesty turns me off. I may not even bother recruiting him next time. Dont know why I am so unforgiving of him... he really creeps me out.

He's a damn good "tank" in battles. The hard dragon fights I had included Blackwall in the party (on first playthrough). I understand though, I don't prefer him in my party really for similar reasons, but he is a good tank. Also, his interactions with Sera are pretty funny.

Yeah, he's probably my favorite tank. I still haven't romanced him, but it's a shame that some of his dialogue options are bugged so he doesn't explain himself properly afterwards. I became unfriends him on my second playthrough, which was kind of rough having him be so cold and distant.

I don't have any with the super high def meshes, since my PC couldn't handle those when I played the bulk of DA2. But here are some of front, back and sides.

When I saw this I thought, wow he looks so much like Anders in this pic. Lol didn't realise it was a swap at first, but it occurs to me that animations and mannerisms (as well as hairstyles) play a big part in how characters look, its not just their features.

LOL Yeah, I know what you mean. A lot of folks talk about how the amazing the animations were in DA:I's storytelling (and they were!), but they were also pretty good in DA2 and definitely betray from whom I swapped. :)

I added a new chapter to my DA2 fanfic, and it is all about Cullen. I am planning on illustrating his transitioning views on Lyrium and the Templar Order, and this is how it all starts. You do not need to read any of the previous chapters to make sense of this one. So, in case you need a little dose of Cullen (<2500 words), you can go to my AO3 account:

Cool! Well, I can't tell for certain, but it looks like the metal chest plate with the sword of mercy on it is connected to a leather piece that goes up to his neck and turns into the straps in the back. It's entirely possible that piece just drops over his head, though and the buckles are for adjustments only. However, I'd like to suggest that the leather piece that overlays it at the neck is part of the shoulder paldrons and the arm protection, elbow cops, and forearm protection are a single piece, connected by vertical straps. He just drops it over his head and fastens the buckles. None of the pictures has a angle that lets me be sure one way or another, but I've seen that done because it's a big time saver (and avoids the "I can't find this ONE piece out of forty" syndrome because presumably Templars have to be emergency responders, not elegant knights armoring for battle for half an hour while spectators admire them.) The gauntlets look separate. But there are glimpses of chain mail that I can't make sense of with the rest of it unless he's wearing a shirt of it down a layer or two and the red thing is slit several places...

Kudos.  Loved this line - "Cullen envied that happy smile. Worse, he resented it."  It gets me all tingly when people reveal a peak at Cullen's emotional slip.  Thanks for sharing

Glad you enjoyed it :) There's a human heart beating beneath that steel plate, with all its human needs and desires. I wanted to emphasize that :)

Anyone here crafty enough to make me one of these? It needs to be usable. Bonus points if I can get one with the Inquisitor's sword!

Spoiler

There was a guy that had a kickstarter thing going to make them but it looks like it's fizzled away.

So, do the companions and advisors say anything about the Cullen romance?

I know Sera does, but that's about it.

Dorian has a comment about strapping templars. Not sure if anyone else does directly. Cass kind of alludes to it once, I think.

Cass alters her dialogue in the Perseverance cutscene. The "disappointment" line is only for a romanced Cullen.

I would say in general though companions/npcs definately do not comment on your relationship with any LI as openly as previous games, in fact sometimes it can be over looked eg the nobles in Skyhold main hall commenting about IQ/Cullen... most times I fly through and think I missed it once of twice

I can't say I recall anyone other than Leliana commenting on the Cullen romance at the war table. To be fair, Cullen was my first playthrough before the various patches. When I later did a Dorian run, I had a few hilarious bits from Sera and I believe Bull and Blackwall had a random comment or two.
