Is it possible to accidentally skip a cutscene in the romance arc?
I'd chosen to delay the part where he gives you a lucky coin because since there aren't that many romance moments I decided there should be a bigger time gap between them.
That way it wouldn't be over too soon.
But after returning from Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, entering Cullen's quarters immediately triggered the cutscene where he gets nightmares from lyrium abstinence.
After it was done, he only had normal dialogue options.

Have you left Skyhaven and returned? Sometimes that triggers other things. I keep delaying WE/WH on that PT.

I know we discussed recently whether you get banter or gossip from companions about romances. I still haven't had anything from Cullen except the "I wouldn't want any misunderstandings" if you flirt with him while in a romance. But my male qunari just had a conversation with Blackwall about Cassandra. ![]()

Hmmm, I'm not sure which one you mean with the nightmares. You mean the one where he shags you first? And by normal dialogue options, do you mean you're not in a romance any longer and can't ask for a woo break?Guys, I'm worried.

Like Tishina said, best way to trigger the next beat in any story line is to leave skyhold and come back again. But I didn't think you could shag him before the gift quest. Huh.

But even if I still can get that one, I won't be happy. This is supposed to be the culmination of their relationship.
It shouldn't already be the next moment after the first kiss scene.

Have you done both Abyss and WE/WH? Just curious...

Now that you mention it, yes, I have.
I wonder if that has something to do with the timing on whether you can have the lake date. Odd that no one's run into that glitch before; I'd had the impression that timing didn't matter on it. Do you have a save from just before starting WE/WH that you can use to make sure the date option was there when you started? I admit, my curiosity is partly to make sure I avoid that if it's the case - I'd planned to do WE/WH for the dance, then possibly immediately do the Abyss and then the lake date as soon as I got back, finish cleaning up most of the areas, then trigger the desk scene just before Arbor Wilds because there's a final scene after that.

This is not possible. Once you finish Abyss/Wicked, the sex scene will immediately trigger the first time you enter Cullen's office, regardless of whether you've completed the other romance stages (the lake, Perseverance) or not. I don't know if you can still trigger the lake scene afterwards, but the desk scene is scripted to happen once you've completed those two stages of the main quest, you can't avoid triggering it.
What you can do is complete every romance stage available prior to Abyss/Wicked, then not enter his office anymore (as the scene will trigger at the door) until you wanna see the desk scene right before Arbor Wilds, but that could be a long time not speaking to Cullen at all between quests, depending on how space they are in your game.

Oh, it was there. I did it once or twice without saving.
I'm kind of hoping this will work like Varric's cutscenes.
There's this moment where he talks about how great the Herald is and formally joining the Inquisition. At the time, I decided to delay this talk.
Then later, approaching Varric wouldn't trigger this cutscene anymore, just normal dialogue. But recently it became available again.

Well, I'm glad to know that now before I messed up the timing. Hmm, maybe I'll do a lot more of the cleaning up regions between WE/WH and Abyss after all and trigger the date right before Abyss instead. I wouldn't necessarily object to having the lake date after the desk scene if it's possible, it could make that scene sweeter if you take the right view that the relationship started more physical but is moving to something deeper and longer lasting. But I want to keep things spaced out (no, I didn't find the long-a***d dryspell--75 hours so far--- in Solas's romance without even a kiss and only an occasional "lethalan" aggravating at all

(...) if you take the right view that the relationship started more physical but is moving to something deeper and longer lasting.
Yeah, I know what you mean here. My final take on the romance was that it developed from a more physical to emotional form too, so I had to minutiously time each scene to flow right with the other elements I wanted to include in it (the first half of Blackwall's and Sera's romances, Perseverance before the first kiss, etc). In the end most of my world exploration is either still in Haven (the Ferelden side) or between Abyss and Wicked (the Orlais side), and the lake scene comes right before Wicked, which comes right before the Arbor Wilds. It gave that scene a very sweet tone to me, like that was when Quizzie realized she really had serious business feelings for this dweeb, not just a misplaced infatuation based on their long-running UST, and made the commitment scene taking place after the dance feel right, like the dance was the moment they both decided they don't wanna let go.
Let us know the resut if you're going to test whether the lake scene is possible after the sex scene. Scientific research is always relevant! ![]()

I also think moving from mostly physical to something more makes particular sense for a Dalish who expected to go back to her clan when this was all over and wouldn't have been looking to actually get attached to a human, however attractive and sweet, until it hit her over the head and forced her to decide. Which is more or less how I'm RPing Volya.
I'd volunteer to be the guinea pig, but I'm only going through WE/WH once, and I'm not willing to risk missing the lake date. ![]()

Ooooooh yes. "I ask for so little. Just fear me. Love me. Do as I say, and I will be your slave."I'm currently watching Labyrinth for the first time. David Bowie makes one strangely attractive goblin king
wouldn't mind seeing someone like his character in a future DA game.

This easily is my favorite part, it's just so sweet. I even let it linger a few seconds before picking the next dialogue option.

That, and how he knocks everything off the table, including more lyrium flasks.
Curly has come a long way in becoming more assertive.
