Just a stupid question but does anyone knows whether Thedas' griffins has purely eagle's head or does it have something that looks like ears...? From The Last Flight's book cover it's rather implied but I didn't find anything written on this subject...

Last Flight Page 50

"---Not that color was the only oddity about Garahel's new friend. One of the griffon's ears flopped forward instead of standing up in a swept-back point like it should have.---"

That's one of the very first descriptions of them you get and there are a few more mentions like this if I remeber correctly. So yes, they have ears or at least had them in the book.

Anyone else happy with the headcanon that Urchin grew up to become Cullen's assistant, Jim?!

No wonder he looks so nervous all the time, he spent his youth around an immortal living corpse with no indoor voice, left Kirkwall to join the Inquisition, only to find he'll now spend most of his adult life with Cullen yelling at him instead!

:D

This is pure gold! Headcannon accepted!

There's a war table mission you need to do to unlock the area. It's near the top of the ferelden side of the map. After you do that the marker for the black emporium will show up on the world map.

Okay get it, thanks :)

Actually I needed to restart the computer before the Black Emporium quest showed up

Wow thanks really!!! I really need to know that before starting the lineart XD

He kind of implies that in conversation with you in Fallow Mire, I think. Been a while since I had the conversation, though.

Damn, I must have been spacing out then.

That would require magic, does it not? I imagine he simply uses his sword as a focus instead of the staff.

His class is a warrior though.

I had to exit Origin then relog into the store to get the download to show up.

OMG, this is great, had all the minor makeup probs fixed in minutes! Though the guy there is a bit creepy. Testing new hair out, with a kiss of course...

Sheesh, even dark grey hair gets a brown tinge in some lights. Someone was obsessed with that lighting effect. I had to go two shades lighter than I really wanted to keep it even recognizably grey and even so...

Fixed_hair_2.png

Ah, well, I'll just have to resign myself to some dev obsessed with brown hair winning this one because I think I'd have to alter her to the point of unrecognizable to escape that special effect, sigh. I don't actually want to give her white hair (and I'm starting to wonder if even white hair would stay white, :P )

Edit: I tested. White hair stays mostly white, but has a few odd tinges at the edges  :P

Yeah, he kinda implies it when he describes his job, healing the sick and mercy-killing the dying, also requires him to watch for signs and portents from the gods? Now we know the Avvar Gods are actually Spirits, it does seem to suggest that he's some kind of Mage (or hedge mage).

Also makes sense now why he's not a fan of someone with the audacity to call themselves "The Hand of Korth", since it's likely a name Movran's son gave himself to parody the "Herald of Andraste", rather than something he earned? Could be why he's so amazed and impressed when he sees the Inquisitor is capable of "mending the sky", which he sees as proof that they are worthy of their title, since their God clearly favours them?

I overthought this a bit too much, eh?

.....he's summoning ice and shooting fire and lightning. He's a mage, lore wise, end of story. I'm not really concerned with his class label in the game.

I think he's just a mage, almost like an Arcane Warrior. He's shooting off a lot more power than a hedge mage, so I would be hesitant to label him that.

And damn, I really must not have been paying attention when he was talking lol.

I think Sky Watcher is a warrior but akin to the Spirit Warrior specialization in Awakening. Check out this description of the specialization:

"Although spirit warriors employ magical abilities, they are not mages; instead, they flirt with inhabitants of the Fade who agree to augment mortal abilities in exchange for a glimpse of the physical world."

Nice catch, I'd forgotten about Spirit Warriors. I wish we had that spec (and many others) back, they've been sorely missed?

I do wonder how Cullen and Cassandra might react to people like Spirit Watcher in Skyhold, they're not the most accepting of stuff outside the norm in general? I wish we'd have Cullen along for the ride in JoH, he'd have been tutting the entire time.

Normally I'd agree, but he's still casting major elemental spells, something way beyond what we have seen so far from Spirit Warriors.

I don't think the lines are nearly as sharply defined a lot of the time as we are forced to play it.

And...I ended up going with white hair which surprisingly makes Volya look younger than the grey buzz cut she had (don't really like the new hairstyle on her, but it doesn't make a drastic change in how she looks.) Tonight or tomorrow - WE/WH finally! And my other Dalish is now a red head since she can't have black hair, lol. Yeah!

Indeed. Unless they want to expand the lore on SW.
Wouldn't Mind this, to be honest :P.

Sorry to be off topic once again, does anyone know how tall a griffon is? If a griffon is standing beside a normal human male, how much is the height difference?

The cover to Last Flight is Garahel riding a griffon, so you can take the proportions from there. Garahel is an elf, so slighter and about a head shorter than an average human, add some mass around his form and take it from there. You can see the shape of his sister riding the griffon in the background for the full extension of its body.

But the griffon would still be a lot bigger and taller than even a very tall human, they're described in the book as very large and unruly and needing several Wardens to tame if they got fussy.

(eta: heh, the more I stare at that image, the more mishappen those weapons look. Look at the size of that arrow and that staff, they're bigger than the people wielding them...)

Well, guess that this one needs some adjustment later on... I'll just do them digitally because the paper isn't big enough

Just as a slight addition to what riverbanks said, if I may:

"---An adult griffon could grow to be more than twelve feet from beak to tail, with a wingspan even greater. The males weighed more than tousand pounds, the females only slightly less.---"

Page 31

That's as specific as their height is actually ever explained, if I'm not mistaken. It's been awhile since I've properly read it.

Don't know if that's of any help for you, but maybe it's something to go by to get a better "feel" for it.

Sorry if I annoy anyone, but I always thought having an actual source/qoute to go by is always helpful and nice.

So sorry again.

The answers we should have at the Winter Palace as a Dalish, even if Josephine would disapprove (however I suspect Cullen would think his LI was being too nice :P )

Oooh thanks! I lost my Last Flight book a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away ;)

Actually the height thing rather bothers me in term of composition because it'll change the whole thing. If the griffon's much taller than Ali then well, I'll have to work out a whole new setting for the composition ;)

Still can't believe the Jaws of Hakkon DLC is not going to release on PS4 until the 26th tho...

Sorry for off-topicness. Just rambling out of excitement and annoyance
