I remember someone writing an Art School AU with Alistair being the model for a Life Drawing sessions... And Wynne being the professor... XD

 

Everyone's comment was really funny since it was something ranging from "if art school was like this I'd still be there because I would fail the class in any case" to "why can't we have models as good looking as Alistair" to "Alistair should stop being a Warden and be Thedas Next Top Model" kind. I remember laughing a lot just reading the comments.

YESS!!! MORE COLLEGE AU!!! YES YES YES YES YES WRITE IT R2s!!! Bwahahahaha so who's student who's the proff? I can imagine easily Cullen as a professor but a bit more hardly of him being student... Weirdly Alistair's a student for me, Dorian too. Sera definitely a student, Solas is that philosophy proff and

 

Wynne is definitely a proff. Or she can also be a student. One of my friends' grandma went back to University to learn art history because she just want to do it to fill her free time (public university is not that expensive here, it's like 300-500€/year, except in Engineering school & Medecine that go up to 1000€/year). So when we went out with her at public transport she flashed out happily her student ID's card to get that student's discount XD. And everyone keep thinking she was the teacher and get startled when she goes to sit with the other students. She's really cool and once we kidnapped her for a student's party and hell, she can drink better than some XD

 

TBH I can see Wynne doing things like this...

 

Can't wait to see how R2s would put each character in which subject & which role XD

Hngggg I went to a Medieval Festival this week end and fell in love with the person who became the champion in jousting tournament there, the knight armour was really cool especially on horseback. Turned out that actually that's a girl, a really beautiful one too and really slim (she doesn't look like tose muscular type gal like Brienne of Tarth). I WANT HER ARMOURS! And gosh that one was apparently like 25 kg... And the jousting stick was really heavy but she best every single guy there (the first part was really a tournament and not a staged one and she won, the second part was tied to the story of the performance so she had to lose but it was really visible that she made effort to let others win for story sake ...). No one in the audience knew that was a gal until she removed her helmet.

 

When I asked her whether I can take a photo with her she kissed my cheeks and I got all red and all of my friends laugh so much... Well...

Take care of the taboo aspect - make him a teaching assistant rather than a professor. As long as the student isn't actually in a class he's helping teach... And he would make a lot of sense as a graduate student, especially if you make him a veteran, which lets you put him a bit older and throw in PTSD, etc. if you want. Retired vets too, if you want a reason to throw Blackwall and Iron Bull into the story.

 

As tempting as the idea of Cullen in a lab coat is, I'd say to go with history, literature, art, or something similar in the humanities, especially if you want to toss Wynne or any of the older NPCs in as students. From what I've seen, it's not uncommon for people to go back for the degree they really wanted 30 or 40 years later in those subjects-usually they were talked out of a "useless" humanities degree for one in something more marketable (I need to introduce those people with their conventional wisdom to my DIL .) I don't know that I've run into more than one or two people who secretly wanted a science degree, and none who've tried to do it for engineering. H**l, there are all sorts of possibilities for throwing in Blackwall as a retired vet who has some dark secret from his military service. I could see Wynne as a retired doctor now getting a degree in something "fun."

As much as physical scientists are clearly hotter than everyone else *cough*, I would also definitely see him as someone who would major in history today. That line about Templar classroom studies mainly concerning history and the Chant for one thing, and then one would imagine that as a military commander he's probably read about every important battle known to Thedas (and I imagine he would have read much of whatever the Templar Order's ~9:25-9:40 Dragon equivalent of this would have been). The line about being fairly well-read makes me think he's gone through the philosophy, literature, and Brother Genitivi sections of the Ferelden and Kirkwall Circle libraries too.

Or mechanical engineering. Or Aerospatial Engineering, specialized in Aerodynamic Design. Nah. XD

(kinda unrelated but most guys in Aerospatial Engineering I know back then in college are SUPER HOT and are great in... mountaineering. The second hottest guys are in Robotics).

As a sneak peek, in my story so far, Cullen is an assistant professor of Political Science and Solona Amell is an as-yet-undeclared undergrad (soooooo, completely taboo... ). I considered physical science or math, but this fits better for . . . reasons, including those mentioned here. Young, British pre-tenure hotshot (so on average younger at PhD receipt than most American faculty). So far, Wynne is a grand old dame of Physics. But, I'm not going to translate the whole world, since it's not a retelling of DA:O. I'm really just writing the short story that popped into my head yesterday ... inspired by my continuing earworm (the 1986 version, btw). Still deciding how it will end. Maybe not well. :/

And Anora keeps pulling Cailan's ears for skipping classes and tried to borrow her notes.
