I have a quick question for those that have romanced Cullen. Does anyone know if certain points in this conversation only happen if you romance him.

I like the idea that Cullen wants the system changed (Some of these ideas are reasonable and well grounded.)  However, this is just my opinion but it feels like hes doing this more for himself then the Mages or Templars. Is that too harsh of me to say?

I'm just looking for discussion not a flame war.

I think that the conversation comes up as interrogative post Perserverance no matter what the relationship status is, but I've never not romanced him so grain of salt.

I don't think it's too harsh, especially considering what his situation was. I could see Cullen still motivated by a need to help create these new rules as a way to continue putting distance between himself and who he was the past ten years.

If I remember well you can have this conversation with Cullen even if you aren’t romancing him.

I don’t think he’s mostly doing it for himself though. I truly believe his motivations are for the greater good. Leaving the Templars for an Inquisition that had most chances of being called heretic (which happened at first) is something too big to be done just for selfish purposes, IMHO.  But if he can find peace at the same time, it’s all the better!

The conversation is different for a Templar IQ, especially for a romanced one:

However, his ideas on changing the system are the same. You just get a little different response in the beginning and the extra stuff at the end with the Templar spec.

Ambis unite---to confuse the h**l out of everyone else! :P
(though I'm probably not naturally ambi. I'm old enough that I wasn't allowed to write left-handed and now I'm just confused :P)

Gulp. Whelp, I'm not a history buff, or a political science buff, soooo.... now I'm worried I'll get something wrong. LOL Ah well. Just be kind. :D
*snip*

Eh, as far as history goes, just avoid the big controversies and you're golden :D I'm not nearly as familiar with polisci...

Ahem, is it a bit warm in here? Though that may have been my thought when I first saw it, given his lack of a shirt and his expression.

She does such lovely work.

I thought about suggesting anthropology/archaeology as a subject for him, but I couldn't picture him as an Indiana Jones type - irresponsible and a little too cocksure of himself. :P

And suddenly having flashes to the 'rogue demon hunter'. Leather jackets and motorcycles make everything better.

Though, unlike poor Wes, everyone knew Cullen was insanely skilled before he left the Order.

Hmm, given that he's neither a Templar or a Mage, I'm puzzled as to how his ideas for reform could be about him? He's always believed that mages can't be completely free for their safety and for others'. So he suggests a way that would be less prison like. That doesn't seem to be about him personally. So I must be missing something.

I'm a little iffy when ever I hear the great good being used. Just from my own view I see that Cullen has come to the realization that system failed, and beileves that it needs to change in order to work. I can respect that, but I don't know if trying to save this system is the best idea in the long run.

This is just my own opinion on the concept of the greater good. But I beileve it means sacrificing that which is most importent to you for the betterment of the whole.

Examples

The best example I can think of in the DA world is Carinus, the founder of the grey wardens. He and his followers fought the blight even through their family and friends were dying.

http://dragonage.wik...om/wiki/Carinus

Others could be

Cassandra- letting the Seekers go

Leliana- letting the Chantry or Bard life style go.

To begin a new there must be an ending.

Just my opinion though.

I think Cullen Stanton Rutherford Jones would be a 14-hour-long movie about carefully brushing pottery shards and placing them into little boxes labelled with alphanumeric grid coordinates corresponding to where on the site they were found. The sequel would involve Cullen at his desk, ensuring that all citations in the resulting paper were formatted according to the desired journal's most recent Author Guidelines.

Gorgeous picture! Although I didn't realise Cullen was left handed.

Oh, and it's the first time I'm writing here so... Hello! <3

Welcome (and to all the newbies!)!

And, the thing is, he's not left handed in any of the games. I think that's just some artistic license.

Do we see him writing in any games? Just curious on that one. I think Josie is the only one we actually see writing?

no, I was just assuming he'd use his right hand for his sword if he's right handed.

He wears his sword correctly for a right-hander. Most people don't switch off, though it isn't impossible.

Exactly my thoughts... :P

Eh, I'm left-handed and shoot a right-handed bow. I actually do a lot with my right hand...I just write left-handed. I practically write upside down...folks laugh when they see me write, lol.

 Could be. Although sounds like that's unusual? My guess is that everyone in the game is right-handed to simplify the animations. Everyone's dominant hand is the right hand. When Cullen rubs his neck, he uses his right hand, for example. He punches the bookcase with his right hand.

LOL Indeed. Another reason Lara Croft's series is far more appropriately named than Indy being an archaeologist.

And I shoot a bow left-handed :P. I think a lot of left-handers write like that, partly because their hand ends up over the words they just wrote. However, it does make a little more difference with a sword, since the dominant hand and arm is stronger generally and so a blow will carry more strength when delivered that way. But R2's right, they probably just make everyone right-handed to simplify animation.

Darnit! Now I'm going to be on the lookout for someone left-handed in the game!

I actually just started up shooting again...haven't done it since I was a kid. My mother gave me her ~1972 Bear Tartar Recurve, which happens to be right-handed. However, apparently I am right-eyed...so shooting a right-handed bow works for me, even though I'm left-handed. Talk about confusing. I just need to get my non-dominant arm into shape. I'm teaching myself to shoot completely unsighted with no bells and whistles and doo-dads on the bow...meanwhile all my friends shoot very angry looking compounds.

Also it's probable that the Templars may have trained it out of him. In a shield wall, having someone who is left handed in line of right handed would be a nightmare as not only are you supposed to be able to perform the strokes in a small space (between the shields) you have to cover the person to the dominant side, so to your right if everyone is trained right handed. You cover the man on your right should he falter just as the man on your left will cover you if something happens and so on.

If you want a really good description Cursor's Fury by Jim Butcher does a very good job at describing a classic Roman shield wall. Plus Codex Alera is a pretty darn good series.

I think the funniest I experienced was when practicing fencing with my brother as he had a tendency to forget I'm ambi and i'm able to fence with both hands so it threw him off and would confuse the heck out of him :P but yeah it probably has to do with animations in regards to everyone being right handed in game
