IIRC Anders also made a funny coment about Seb's belt with Andraste's face on it, something about if he was the Maker he won't want his bride's face on Seb's crotch or something like that XD

...somehow I love this snarky side of his

And Seb's reaction was just precious.

Yuph, but the funny is that Greg Ellis did the voice for DAA so comparing the lines... Hell comparing the vocal style for two polar opposites is fun.

So, for anyone with too much time on their hands, it seems there's a fandom celebration explosion right now. Not quite sure why, or why they're all at practically the same time, but there's a Calendar  and now a blog dedicated to them. Maker watch over you.

Umm, is it my imagination, or are they creating competing positivity/fandom weeks?

You know, it'll be amazing if Greg do a voice roleplaying between himself as Anders talking with himself as Cullen... XD

Hey he often ask for ideas from Cullenite fans about what to record right? Here's an idea of what XD

Guess that there was one positivity week, and then many fans decided that it's also good to do for other. The thing is somehow everyone get inspired at the same time, like Merril's & Cullen's basically on the same week (ouch).

That blog was made apparently to try organize everything. There's the calendar too because like always this fandom is quite scatter brain & not everyone follow everyone & everything. Not bad to have two though... avoid errors & good for back up

Speaking of slighting Cullen fans, did any one else hear the term 'Hakkonites' and think that was a slight too. A group of mad, raging fanatics; a lot of people think of fangirls like that. Or maybe I'm the mad one, who knows  :D

I doubt it. The suffix ite has been in use a long time to talk about followers of a sort. The big one I can think of is the Deadites from Evil Dead.

Agree. As Greg himself said when we first told him that's what we were calling ourselves, "I have -ites?"

Little did we know.

Greg barely remembers Cullen's characterization. I doubt he remembers anything from DAA!Anders. Without someone else prompting him the lines, I don't think that would work very well.

Curious question. Do we know if Cullen was always slated for DA2? I know his story makes him a good candidate, but there are two other named Templars in DAO who might have work.

Carrol, though he'd be my long shot, and Bryant.

Me too. But just for a second, when I first heard the term, I did think maybe they'd slipped a little dig in. Being in this fandom has made me defensive clearly. :pinched:

Yuph, that is a sweet one, though a part of me wishes Bull could wise off to him. The idiot probably would still be scared, if he had a mind left.

I just saw the new DLC today and seriously hoping this is not what they were refering to at the beginning of the month on twitter... I was hoping for more story content.

Also added you guys on tumblr (asperath.tumblr.com) but I'm more into appreciating other's works than posting myself ;)

Depends on what you mean by "always." When DA:O was written, he was just a one-off character that Sheryl never expected to have any kind of an impact. She says that if she'd known, she would have included some closure for his storyline.

As far as when they decided to add him to DA2, it's anyone's guess. At one point there was a different templar in early footage of the game in the Knight-Captain's place, but this may very well be a placeholder.

I don't think anyone could call an item pack, by any stretch of the imagination, story content. I think we can rest assured that we're getting something meatier. Only question is when. :)

Seriously need this Wolf Hunt DLC... :(

Also about lyrium & magic & dwarves & Qunari...

Hmm actually it makes more sense to me if the Knight Captain was a bit older... I mean Cullen's so YOUNG when he became the second in command. I'd imagine if he's probably 10 years older in DA2 and DA:I it'll make more sense for me. As much as there are younger people with natural leadership skills, I really don't feel it in early DA2 Cullen. And he wasn't in a good mental state either. What's Meredith thinking of taking a newcomer to be her second in command? Knight captains must be someone respected by other templars, TBH Cullen in early DA2 just seem quite... well... I have difficulties buying the story of Meredith pulling him up because of his zealotry or anything like that

But still I love that he's not that old in the end because of my own age difference with him, him as it is now is just perfect ;)

But then probably the dev want some continuation, since in sequels its often important to have a face that people recognize from the game before.

Umm, is it my imagination, or are they creating competing positivity/fandom weeks?

There has been some substantial drama around the Cullen week, largely rooted in the perception that he does not "deserve" a week and that this was somehow in "retaliation" to Anders' week. I suppose the first opinion is subjective, but the second one is absolutely untrue. I think it's finally started to quiet, and as one of the creators, I'd prefer it'd stay that way.

But reading the announcement for the Sera Positivity Week, I do believe it was intended to "compete" with Cullen's week. Merrill's doesn't say anything specific, but I get the impression that might be the case, too.

Solas' was inspired by Cullen's, I think (the formatting is very similar to what I used), but not intended to overshadow, and Vivienne's Month was planned by a friend; there was definitely no foul play there. Samson's Weekend pre-dated the Cullen one, and actually has a really great fundraiser attached to it.

I could do without the shade, but I really am all for fans organizing events to spur on creativity and (hopefully) positivity amongst the fandoms. And if these events help draw away any backlash we'd receive during the week, I'm totally okay with that.

(Also, hello! I've been a Cullen fan for a few years, but largely spent most of my time at Tumblr. I think this might be my first post in this thread.)

Welcome! It's nice to have some context amidst the baffling pile up of "dedicated" fan weeks. I just have to laugh that Cullen fans get flack for being the ostracized few with a crazy obsession and now get flack for being the privileged masses. We just can't win.

I agree. It's puzzling on Meredith's part, except for the fact that she wanted someone she viewed as having the same principles regarding mages and thought it would make sense to have someone with more experience in the trenches than the average templar. Personally, I like what it adds to his backstory, that he'd have this extra layer of issues in being young and Fereldan and promoted over others who may have been more deserving. It ratchets up the angst but makes his position in Kirkwall even more interesting as a foil to Meredith.

Aaaand, one of the reasons Sheryl has stated for making it Cullen in the pink bubble of woe in DA:O was that people like to see folks from their past. So I think Cullen continued to have that going for him.

I guess it's always as from the beginning of DA2 production, and since I'm new to the Cullenites, my thought was was Cullen that popular in DAO, compared to say, Bryant, who is older and would have continuity with Origins.

And Cerulione is right, Cullen is pretty darn young for his post in DA2, though I always attributed that to Meredith wanting to mold someone in her image.

I will say I did squee the first time I saw him in DA2.

Still, pretty.

Ha, right? Especially since the whole idea was spurred on by someone trash-talking in one of the main Cullen tags. Oh, well.

Anyway, in spite of the backlash, I am excited to see that we've had a lot of support! (I'm especially excited about seeing more DA2 Cullen/Cullen x Hawke, my true OTP. ♥)

And I'm looking forward the Skyrim/Dragonborn crossover art from Cerulione! (IIRC--Sorry if I got the wrong name). Kind of surprisingly, I haven't seen much Cullen/Skyrim crossover ideas.

*sigh*. Yeah. This has all happened before, and it will all happen again. No matter how many there are, Cullen fans will be the red headed step children.

Anyway, Cullen x Hawke 5ever!!! My everlasting OTP. I think I may have a new chapter done in time for DA2 day. And maybe my first DAO -inspired story, although in a modern AU. Not a lot of time for new stuff, tho. :/
