I like the normality of being a human, especially because I don't play as a mage. Normality seems like the wrong word to use, all I mean by that is not sticking out in a crowd(I can't get it to sound right, I'm not trying to be rude about other races ) Also the Trevelyan back story resonated with me, I know the pains of being the youngest child :P As for a dwarven only LI, that would awesome, although I can't help thinking they'd make him/her dwarven aswell. I'd love to have some dwarven lovin' myself, though I fear my one true dwarven love is forever out of reach (looking at you Varric)

Nah, it's not rude. I just happen to enjoy playing non-humans because it lets me try to put myself into their culture and try to imagine how they'd see other races, including humans. It's a bigger RP challenge, and like I said, almost all RP games that are "modern" are generally limited to humans (and believe me, I detest a lot of the controls in DAI, I'm certainly not playing it for the combat. :P) Everyone has their preferences, and some people aren't comfortable going that far outside their box. I just feel that, unconsciously, they're either "rewarding" the "good" choices in race or "punishing" anyone who chooses to not conform to the ideal. I don't actually want to see a dwarf only romance because I'd hate to see people disappointed, but there are moments when I think if the "bad boys/redemption" romances were the only ones available to humans and elves while there was a really excellent romantic one of the sort that sets off dozens of stories of happily-ever-afters (and tragic losses to be mourned forever), people who really don't want to play dwarves might understand a little more why it's so frustrating to be told "oh, just roll a human or elf, what's the big deal?" Oh, also, an LI that is NOT comic relief (I love Varric, but he and Oghren are there mostly as comedy).

Well, not to get too personal, but I'm mixed race & it seems as if my whole life people have tried to put me in a box, but they're just not quite sure which one to throw me in ^_^ So when it comes to my escapism in games, I want the focus to be on the story & relationships, with my race not being important or something people notice first about me. Still, I understand your frustrations, I feel both Cadash's & Adaar's got the short end of the stick (as much as I love my Adaar) and although I may have some privilege in the games because I enjoy humans the most, I do understand where you're coming from. Here's hoping that in the future, if Bioware gives us race choices, that they put equal effort into each and every one. Also I have to say, although I adore my crazy Cousland, both dwarven origin stories blew the rest out of the water, in my opinion.

Ello folks! I'm looking for a good fic about how Cullen got his scar, anyone know of any?

Extra bonus chocolatey brownie points if its in the style of a flashback, and Cullen is presently involved with fem!IQ, which lead to mushy or smutty memories lol.....

Thanks in advance!

Try as I might, I don't get it. Because I said I like Cullen and The Iron Bull? I didn't mean together, at the same time :P

Edited for stupidity

I get it now. I read it as Bull, whip and a lion, as in the title of a fic :D You know what they say, snooze you loose.

Haha by all means! I'd love to see your result, I have a mighty need for this story lol. Nothing wrong with using a Cullen fan thread as a Cullen-centric kmeme prompt pool :D

I'm positive there are plenty of well written fics swimming out there that have something to do with his scar, but there isn't an easy way to find them. And I'd find it the most interesting if it were not only a detailed account of how it happened, but also if the story was tied to his beautifully sexy relationship to the quizzy B)

I was thinking it would be easy, and then you added that last bit :pinched:  Tied as in the inquisitor gave it to him or was there when it happened? Or as in he tells her how he got and then they smush? Or both?

Oh, I absolutely understand, and regardless, I think everyone should be comfortable with their own choices but also respect how others feel. A large part of the attraction for me with dwarves and qunari is that they are "too" tall, "too" short, "too" heavy, etc. In a lot of ways, it's less "race" and wanting real life variety in women's body types. I admit, I only played Couslands to put someone on the throne with Alistair :P. I got into the Brosca and Tabris origins far more than my Cousland, Dalish, and mage PTs, with Aeducan slightly behind the two underdog origins in my preferences. But the fact we're all passionate about different origins is part of why it was such a great game.

Another reason for the promotion might be his experience in an Annulment. He proved to be pretty resistant to demons.

That is an excellent point.

wow, all this positivity...can I call it drama? drama. so sad people are making it not fun with squabbling about it.

i just wanna love on cullen. (and kaidan) why do so many people act like romancing fictional men is weird and wrong? i think it's GLORIOUS.

aaanyhow, on that note, and in the interest of continuing with this omg-am-i-seriously-going-to-write-something-as-massive-as-i-have planned?-oh-yes-i-think-i-shall fanfic, here's today's update. i don't always post my wednesday updates here, because some chapters feature cullen less than others.

but this weeks features mostly cullen/quizzy, and also really off-color penis jokes. soo, yeah, you were warned.

cheers! ima go get a beer and write more cullen now.

I agree emphatically with all points, but especially about women needing more body variation, some of us have curvy hips without the bewbs to match you know world :P  This was a good discussion, thank you. I hope you don't feel as if I was undermining your opinions/ preferences, I absolutely do not believe that any race is better/ worse than any other. Or that a player chose wrong for not choosing what I did, or what's most "popular". I hope Scout Harding get's her romance amped up in the next dlc for your dwarf, and that they don't ruin it by making them both human sized in any love scenes. (I'll never be over the height morphing bioware <_<)

Nope, I enjoyed the discussion too, and I felt we were comparing preferences and reasoning in a positive way rather than undermining. Everyone comes from different places mentally. I'm actually kind of hoping they leave Scout Harding for the next game so her romance isn't an afterthought. And yeah, the height morphing is one of my major complaints (I played SWtOR too, and was really aggravated when my very tall muscular sith warrior suddenly shrunk to be smaller than Quinn, sigh.) Half of my interest in running a female qunari was that she would have to be taller than a male LI for once; that much of a height change would just be absurd to sweep under the rug. Apparently they have an amazingly generous idea of "believable." :P  I may eventually run a female qunari for Josephine since I think they keep the heights right for that one.

Edited for Top:

My male qunari, hopelessly flirting with Cullen...

Actually... it's how Indiana Jones got his chin scar in Last Crusade.

I seem to remember Blackwall being shorter than my Adaar during the dance scence at the palace, so it's not impossible for them to do. I'm pretty sure Adaar stays taller than both Josephine and Sera during their romance scenes, so you should be alright. Would you consider doing a Sera romance for your lady qunari, or would her attitude still put you off? I mean in terms of both her immaturity and how she lust's openly after Adaar.

Actually... it's how Indiana Jones got his chin scar in Last Crusade.

I knew that, I was testing you  At first I thought you were giving me a title for a Cullen x Bull fic, and then I thought you were refering to me as the lion who needed taming beacuse I snapped up that prompt :P The only Indiana Jones film I've seen is the newest one, it was bad.

LOL talk about prompt hell, if anything that sounds like a crack AU story where the Alexius time travel magic went all crazy and the IQ wound up in Kirkwall and accidentally walloped the Knight-Captain..

In other news- I haven't been able to bring myself to make any fanart for maannnnnnnymany months but now I've been hit with an urge. My first try at making a 'Cullen', a wip. I won't be able to work on it beyond this for a few days but I'm pretty pumped to see where it goes

That mod where Cullen has the little tufts of hair hanging out at the front/side of his forehead all scruffy-like has grown on me lol

I've thought about an Adaar-Sera PT, but I dunno. Her obsession with the qunari's size isn't insulting the same way it is for a dwarf, but it isn't terribly appealing either. She comes across as very young at times, but only about certain things, so that's not a major issue.  And yes, I've seen the dance with Blackwall, that's the one place they preserve the height I think.
