In other news- I haven't been able to bring myself to make any fanart for maannnnnnnymany months but now I've been hit with an urge. My first try at making a 'Cullen', a wip. I won't be able to work on it beyond this for a few days but I'm pretty pumped to see where it goes



That mod where Cullen has the little tufts of hair hanging out at the front/side of his forehead all scruffy-like has grown on me lol

A game without Cullen is like a night without stars! 

 

To get over your fix...I suggest pursuing and/or creating fan fic and fan art.  There are folsk still keeping it all alive!!!  And visiting here, of course!

Or replaying the game. Or make Cullen in other game (Sims, Skyrim). Talking about skyrim if someone has any mod suggestion for Cullen's hairstyle I'm interested, as well as make a true Nord Dragonborn!Cullen

 

There are people who replay the game multiple time... I mean you can play anything with human & elven ladies... Mages (KE, Rift, Necro etc), DW Rogue, Archer, badass warrior, make every single combination possible... And romance cullen everytime XD

Welcome! I think everyone who enjoyed his romance feels like that when they hit that point (though it's worse if you romanced Solas and he's literally not there at all anymore...including taking some very expensive gear with him, blast it; that's the last time I gear him to fight Cory with me...) Replays and fanfics are good ways to get a new dose of Cullen, even if you just reload an early save for the mage PT and play it with different choices. And virtually no one goes back to read through the thousands of pages of prior posts, lol, especially since a lot of it was speculation about what Cullen would be like in DAI, I think.

Speaking of height differences, I romanced Blackwall with my Cadash Inquisitor, and during their romance scene, she was suddenly elf-height. WTF, Bioware? I was really looking forward to cute-levels of height difference. :<

Oh man, I fired up the Sims for the first time in ~5 years the other night because some people were talking about it on Twitter. Nostalgia had apparently made me forget how weird-looking the people were, esp. men, but they're kind of weird-looking in the same way as DA:O chargen output, so I made DA:O Cullen. It's a pretty decent likeness, but I don't have any screenshots that clearly show his face. What I do have is a screenshot of him enthusiastically Shepard-dancing to some slow classical music while my active sim and a neighbor try to have a conversation:


It's weird; with the way Dragon Age continuity works I wonder if I'll ever get to stop hoping that we'll see Cullen in some small way in another game. I would love to feel as satisfied that DA characters' stories are over, that I'm not going to see them again, etc. as I do with my favorite ME1/2/3 characters. But with DA and the new story threads that start whenever another one ends, lack of a consistent protagonist, etc., there's always that hope for a cameo. Even if we jump forward 200 years to kill everyone I'll probably still be hoping for some random codex entry about the Templars or siege equipment or something to have been written by him.

Yes, she grows significantly in both the first kiss scene and in the loft of the barn, sigh. It's worse with the qunari, though. She's suddenly shorter than him instead of two feet taller. It's not as if it's impossible to mocap that sort of scene for animating it right, just have the person who's significantly taller stand on a box for the mocap if nothing else (haven't any of them ever kissed someone seated while they were standing, it's not that complicated?) Apparently some devs are convinced that women don't really know what they want when they chose someone shorter or taller than "normal"...or were just unwilling to put in the time to animate it when it was obvious that was going to be required, but oh well. Someday we'll get game developers who treat women's individual preferences seriously.

IKR, I keep hoping to see his cameo in DA4... I mean come on we see a good deal of Leliana, Morrigan, Alistair back in DA:I... Leliana's the biggest one since she was a companion in DA:O and stay member of inner circle in DA:I. We get Morrigan for the better part of the story & Alistair for at least one major quest & he'll come battling beside us the whole Fade thing.

 

If they make the purge there are less chance but if it's less than 50 years... really really hope for an old Cullen as old warrior giving advice... You know a bit like Brom from Eragorn or something like that... Or Obi-Wan Kenobi. Probably not him fighting anymore but he'll tell stories about his younger days beside a fireplace.

 

Or if DA4 takes place in Tevinter & we met Dorian he'll tell about his friend back in the day of the Inquisition, about this Commander who used to beat him in chess.

 

Weirdly I really love DA:O's CC. It's easy to make better looking character there than in the Inquisition for me O.o

Although Dorian & Sera & IB are the funniest combination ever. There's no fun banter with Solas. Deep, meaningful discussion yes, but not funny.

Solas. Is. THE. BEST. THING. EVER.

 

I am not as fond of romancing him as I am friending him, oddly enough. I sort of preferred his odd-man-out lurking in the rotunda (i'm sure this makes me evil or something). but every freakin' time I talk to that guy, I get some line I never caught before about lore/him/others, etc. omg, i love it. love him.

 

he is, imo, the hands-down best written character in the dragon age series. but then, i totally fangirl for ANYTHING patrick weeks writes. mordin, solas, IB, cole. yeah, i was grinning madly when i heard he's lead writer. if gaider moves on, i'm SO glad it's weeks taking over.

 

alright, i'm done with that bit. of course, cullen is amazing well developed, too, esp. considering how much his character got written in piecemeal over the course of the games.

 

 

also, Cerulione, i LOVE to see your drawing progress - both the drawings, and your practice with it. thank you so much for sharing that.

'no. ... wait, maybe? i don't remember.' << i forget the line, but it made me laugh my head off.

I like to read it as a polite brush-off regardless of who the Inquisitor is, tbh. I know there's that cut line, "I couldn't keep my eyes off you, but we'd only just met" or whatever, but since cut content isn't canon I feel free to ignore it. One of the things I liked about Cullen's crush on the mage Warden in DA:O was that he admired her talent, bravery, confidence, etc. rather than things you would be likely to learn about someone right away.

But then, I saw it first on a preview where the reviewer was playing as a male Cadash; might have felt differently if I'd seen it first on my own first playthrough as a female Trevelyan.

 

(EDIT: Not trying to stop your headcanon, btw. Just sharing mine.)

I just love how dry his wit is, so second 'the Solas banter can be funny' comments. Like when Blackwall and Sera gang up on him, but he also holds his own.

Of course, this is modulo the fact that I luuurve him almost as much as Cullen (sorry, Cullen, dear).
