Jesus. Bethesda started E3 with a bang. Dishonored 2 with Emily Kaldwin as protagonist, and Fallout 4 coming Nov. 10, 2015. I'm so happy that I'm shaking right now.

My daughter is in my room right now telling me all about all of them... :P

PSA: If y'all haven't played Dishonored yet, please do. Such a great story and game, plus the lore is fascinating.

Nope, Zima Lavellan was the IQ for the one I finished a few weeks ago, Cullen's Charge, and has no connection to this story. My second long one is a Cadash story I don't link in here because it isn't Cullen-oriented, but since the IQ is a minor character in Saying Goodbye, I reused her so she'd already have a background and personality.

Can't wait for the next part! :D

Hee hee hee, now I fully expect the box for the next DLC/game to have the following sticker on the outside. :D

Bwahahahaha YESSSS WE NEED IT. Although I'm scared. They could've killed Cullen... O.o

I don't even play Dishonored 1 but that Dishonored 2 trailer looks BADASS. And that gal (Emily?) looks really great. The only thing that I don't get it is why she want to wear a tailcoat for fighting since it can easily be used to outmanuvered by her opponent

My daughter walked in about the time you posted that talking about exactly those two games (plus another one, I think.) I think she's excited too. Though I think she was also kind of hoping for an TES6 announcement too.

It sounded interesting from what she said. I may pick it up later this summer if I need something new since the two of you speak so highly of it and I rather like steam-punkish type settings.

Very much looking forward to Fallout..

I doubt Bethesda will start talking about the next Elder Scrolls til Fallout 4 is released. They'd be competing against themselves. They seem to generally stagger those franchises. I can't wait for the next Elder Scrolls game either!

I'm really buzzing about E3 but I keep missing things due to the time zone difference. No-one seems to post things in GMT and I keep getting confused :(

Yes, Cameron Lee tweeted about Leliana's VA doing work, and MLaw and PWeekes have each mentioned story DLC is forthcoming. But no details yet.

If ever they mentionned that Greg Ellis is doing recording... I'd get that DLC for sure XD.

Kinda hope for TES6 announcement too though but I don't think it'll be for now. From their way of announcing Dishonored 2 they'll probably wait until the year it'll be out & announce a few month back. IIRC each TES game is spaced around 5 years of development so well, next year can be great (I'm HOPEFUL). TES 5 Skyrim is still one of my fave game up to now (still replaying it). The best thing with that kind of open world is that no story is forced on you to play the game so you can basically be ANYONE living any kind of life. You don't even have to be the Dragonborn if you don't activate that quest the dragons won't come & you won't be recognized as such. I even tried playing normal farmer life with Frostfall survival mod & see if it's really possible to live a farmer's life (no fast travel)... (conclusion: not really, got killed by bandits/wolfs each time on travel time to  because I spent my time tending the crops instead of fighting). That adds the replayable value much more than DA games TBH...

One of the best thing to do in skyrim (for me) is to go to the highest & steepest point & try to go down the mountain in one straight line, naked. No armour. And survive at the bottom. Now it's also doable on DAI on much lesser extent, yaaay!

Hoping for Elseweyr next TES game!

One of the things I love about Skyrim and TES games are the plethora of mods.. and I can sleep, sit, cook and eat (and be obsessed about finding ingredients XD) from baking the perfect pie to brewing the nastiest poison.. only down side is.. no LI (or npc) like Bioware's :P

Btw, I kinda wonder since Leliana's VA is doing a recording, what are the chances of Greg Ellis doing a voice over for Cullen? XD (getting mighty desperate and this is the actual question I've been dying to ask all day XD)

oh, geez, no apologies needed. ... (edit) - you meant apologies for the nook. oh, durr.

yeah, see, this is why i have to stop occasionally and clarify myself. i always i want to go back and edit. is the writer-geek in me. :P  also, i over analyze stories/characters as a hobby, so please excuse me if i frequently geek out as i try to understand the characters and what motivates them. i can get *really* geeked out about this if i get going. yeap. this is what i do for fun. lol

since i wrote a lot of ME fic, i spent a lot of time with kaidan - garrus, too - and honestly, i was a bit odd shifting gears to cullen. he's kind of a mix of the two of them - but in other ways, totally not.

and YES for the self-assured characters. this is part of why i loved DAI so much - the characters you join with are all pretty mature and well-adjusted. SUCH a nice change from poor hawke.  (hmmm... probably gonna get in trouble for saying that). i do love me some da2 angst, but none of the romances appeals to me personally. don't get me wrong! i played that game with well over a dozen hawkes, but none of them sucked me into writing fanfic. maybe if i could have run away with aveline....

Believe me, I understand about having characters in your head after spending far too much time with them. I somehow developed a whole chorus of "muses" from the characters I've borrowed for fic over the years. All men, they generally moan, complain and carp or disappear to play darts at a local tavern when I need them.

I think Cullen is much closer to Garrus than he is to Kaidan. And that, I think, stems from the fact that, if I'm remembering right, Kaidan didn't originally intend to go into the military. In fact it sounded like he was doing some serious rebelling for a while before he enlisted. Where as Garrus grew up on a world were service lis a way of life, and Cullen made the choice to enter at thirteen, it's a very different view point.

And don't worry, I do this all the time. It makes my writing better.

You know, y'all got me thinking about whether he feels guilty in that scene or not. I guess I never read it that way so I've been thinking about why.

I think we've seen him respect the Inquisitor's choices too much for him to feel like he would be to blame if Corypheus killed her, because despite his turn of phrase, it isn't really his decision. I mean... he doesn't really have a choice. (1) Who else would go? She's the only one with the sparkly hand, And, (2) it's not really his call anyway; it's the Inquisitor's, because she's the boss. I guess I didn't interpret it as him feeling guilty for making a hard choice between sending her or sending someone else, because that isn't really the choice.

Instead, I felt more like he's feeling lousy because he doesn't want her to go, even while he knows she has to. That he wishes there were an alternative so she's not in harm's way, and that the conflict of his personal life vs. his duty is unexpected and difficult for him. So if he's feeling guilty, it would be more for his personal "weakness" (which, for the record, I don't personally view as weakness) of being so attached that he wishes she didn't have to go. I think part of why it feels far more personal is how he talks about himself in the first person. Instead of the royal "we" of the Inquisition sending her into battle, it's "I have to send you to him" meaning he personally has to let go long enough for her to throw herself into danger again.

So.... I guess I've argued myself in a bit of a circle. He might feel guilty, but I think it would be a different kind of guilt that I'd originally assumed everyone meant.

R2,

I've spent the last several days trying to figure out how to explain this, because when I read the above I realized I was doing a poor job :). I'm also going to say the first time I saw that scene I was also reading Jim Butcher's First Lord's Fury, and two of the main characters were having a similar discussion on the eve of battle, so my impressions may have been colored by that.

Cullen still has a lot of that anger, and after Arbor Wilds he has two people who could be targets. Corypheus, whom he can't get to, and the Inquisitor, and he'd kill himself before he harmed her. So he turns it inward. He HAS to accept responsibility in those terms, if that makes sense.

Of course, like a dummy, I didn't mention that I'm on PC. And... this is not reassuring, sadly. :/ I'm rubbish with complicated, multi-key moves like that. Bah. But maybe by the time I play it there will be a "kill all and move the frak on" console cheat. :)

I played half of the game without using this multi-key moves because by the time I remembered I should be using them... and remember which keys I should be pressing the combat was already finished... also you can always lower the game's difficult to "Just the Story!" and not worry about the combat.

I'm still playing Skyrim, especially since I've gotten into screenarchery. I went a little overboard with mods and a heavy-duty ENB though so my 780 Ti was pretty much brought to it's knees when I tried to play at 2k resolution. After I get the 980 Ti (soon!!!) I should be able to play at 4k so I can be happy happy happy and go nuts with screenshots. I'm up to ~220 mods....I know...obsessed!

I never got into Frostfall simply because I love running around in skimpy armor way too much. I did get Realistic Needs and Diseases though which is cool...and Moonlight Tales, which is THE BEST werewolf mod EVER. If you want to have a really cool start to the story for replay value (I got tired of the vanilla opening), you can try Live Another Life. It's awesome. You can start out as a new member of one of the guilds and it will bring you right to the starter quests depending on what guild you choose...or you can have yourself just start out in the middle of the woods...or start as Erik the Slayer's childhood friend. Either way, you don't have the same Helgen prisoner opening...you kinda stumble across becoming the Dragonborn. Whoever created that mod spent really thought the story through.

There are some in-depth storylines with the Immersive NPC mod...and apparently there are some marriages there. There is also a Bishop (from NWN2) Romance mod floating around out there. I have it - it's cool - but it's also kinda sappy. I just like it because...um hello...Bishop.  :P

Have a Cullen for my OT!

Just figured I'd drop this in and see what people say:

At the Xbox Brief for E3 Bethesda announced mod support for Fallout 4, and it'll be free.

I'm thinking this is going to be the model (pardon the pun) for PC to Console modding. If it works...

It looks like there will be modding for Fallout 4 on Xbox One. Develop it on the PC, and then install to the console. They were closed lipped about HOW, but Bethesda did make a point about saying you'd have free access to the mods, not have to pay to download.

I don't know if this is going to be just Bethesda or if it'll expand, but I'm guessing the latter.

They also announced backward compatibility with 360 games, and they showcased it using Mass Effect... I don't know exactly what games are on the list, and they say they'll add more, but it's different than what Sony has done. It's free, you own the game, you can play it.

Edit: Tishina, been reading your work... I love Timur... :) It's wonderful. It'll try and give a better actual critique one you get a little further in if that's okay?

Dunno if this is the definition of a geeky family or not, but I'm sitting here in IM with my daughters so we can watch the EA segment "together." Twenty-first century dispersed family time! Too bad we can't get on voice if they mention ME. Or maybe not, I like my hearing

Most of our family time is remote like this these days. One of them lives over 2 hours away and the other's about to move about that far away, and none of us like to drive, lol. We play tabletop games remotely together :P
