Oooh the ME: Andromeda trailer did look fun. Interesting that it's not the player character featured in the trailer though. Sad not to see anything on the secret IP either.

I think I could have watched the first few minutes for ME, five minutes in the middle for Mirror's Edge, then the last 5 or 10 minutes for Battlefront and slept through the rest, lol. :P

It looks like there will be modding for Fallout 4 on Xbox One. Develop it on the PC, and then install to the console. They were closed lipped about HOW, but Bethesda did make a point about saying you'd have free access to the mods, not have to pay to download.

I don't know if this is going to be just Bethesda or if it'll expand, but I'm guessing the latter.

They also announced backward compatibility with 360 games, and they showcased it using Mass Effect... I don't know exactly what games are on the list, and they say they'll add more, but it's different than what Sony has done. It's free, you own the game, you can play it.

Edit: Tishina, been reading your work... I love Timur... :) It's wonderful. It'll try and give a better actual critique one you get a little further in if that's okay?

Oooh Bethesda's officially support TES' modding on PC right? I'm not surprised they're doing the same thing now for console too. Good for them, good for everyone yay!

Yeah the biggest thing so far for me personally at E3 has been mod support on consoles, or at the very least the Xbone, for Fallout 4. This is a pretty big deal since modding has pretty much been a PC only thing, and something publishers have been loath to support for that reason. This could be the thing that makes publishers more open to the idea of supporting/developing mod tools for players to use. I really really hope this goes well and motivates publishers to push for mod support. Just imagine the next Mass Effect game with official mod support, even if it ships with seriously dodgy hairstyles and mechanics give modders a few weeks/months and it’ll be like a whole new game.

The head of Bethesda very specifically said modding was one of the things that made their games what they are, thus they pressed Microsoft for it. Since the announcement was made at the Xbox brief, it's going to be xb1 only, but still a good step. And, as I said, whatever distribution setup they have in mind isn't going to have a charge to it.

I'm not sure if that could be put on Bethesda though. They've always embraced the modding of their games for PC, and since Microsoft is so heavily pushing the Xbone, it makes sense that they'd urge for modding to be brought to that platform since they're both owned by Microsoft. That sorta leaves Sony out in the cold. Perhaps Sony will try for a slice of the pie? I'd imagine their sales could start to suffer if mods for one console over the other become an actual thing.

It really sucks that PS4 owners could get burned in a big way. They already seem to get burned in the release date category since both Microsoft platforms seem to get everything first. If I were in the market to buy a console it certainly wouldn't be the PS4, that's fo' sho'.

Microsoft was really big on pushing both that mod availability and backward compatability with 360 will be free. Since they demonstrated the backward compatability with Mass Effect, betting that some Bioware titles will be part of the first hundred games that they'll have re engineered.

I understand the (business) logic, I'm just being a grump because I have a ps4 :P It's annoying that something like modding is being held back from some gamers because they "chose the wrong console". Microsoft don't even make the mods but they still figured out a way to milk some cash (sales of xbox ones, I know the mods will be free). Or maybe I'm wrong, it's 10 am here and I haven't been to sleep

Discussion in another thread about the aftermath of the desk scene and I realized that seeing the IQ up and dressed reminded me of a reverse When Harry met Sally. And being as I have yet to sleep this brought something else to mind. The infamous lunch scene... Now, imagine, if you will the Inquisitor and Cullen in a similar situation...

Anyone game to write this?

I see Cullen turning fifty shades of red and then spitting his lunch across the table.  Still...it seems like something my quizzy would do!!! ;)

THEY ARE REMAKING FINAL FANTASY 7!!! FINAL FANTASY 7!!!

I literally got the chills when that immortal opening tones playing in the end of the trailer...

I admit, I liked what I've seen in the clips enough I'm seriously considering an FPS, and I never play them normally...

And lovely! I want screenshots when you create her...

What's an FPS? (Frame Per second???). I don't know what the gameplay would like but the colour & world looks beautiful, it gets a beautiful & badass protagonish & it's probably a great time to try :D

Thanks ^^, guess that the screenshots will need to wait for more hair mods. I already heard people start talking about making Emily hair mod in Skyrim though. And it'll be classy if we can get her coat too in DAI!

Except for ps4 players it would seem <_< Not that I'm bitter or anything

Well... I thing it really depends on console maker's priority :(

That's why I stick to PC...

Seriously I hope that console moddings can be available to all platforms. I really think that Bethesda's model are working really well for their context and personally I love to see how far people can actually push the boundaries.

If you see what people did with Skyrim, modding is really amazing. There are literally mods who add areas 1/3 size of the whole game (Falskaar, Wyrmstooth etc) & some also add  huge areas with story plots (Moonpath to Elseweyr). There are even people who do a "conversion", using Skyrim's ressource to create an entirely new world & story (Enderal in TES 5 Skyrim, Nehrim back in TES4 Oblivion). From what I heard from the creators of Enderal & Nehrim, they get technical supports from Bethesda. Because well, to play it you need to have Skyrim and many people are like "ooh cool why not" and those conversions are contents distributed freely IIRC.

But then these contents can only be made if the machine is strong enough to withstand it. There are mods that basically makes my computer overheat directly... I have no hope for older gen consoles to ever get modded but well, PS4 can be nice.

Although, probably Sony does not put priorities because Bethesda's model can work only for Bethesda's open world games? Idk...

*snip*

Phaleonopsis beat me to it, but yes, a first person shooter like Call of Duty. I'm old enough they bother my eyes a lot, though I never really enjoyed them very much. OK, yes, I played Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein, and Doom, but someone gave me the games and it was in the days when there wasn't much else available. From the way my daughter has described Dishonored, though, the story and Emily's character may be enough to suck me in (especially if there's a story mode and I can just play through if it turns out that my eyes won't handle it.)

Ouch... Don't tell me Dishonored 2 will be FPS? :(

FPS games often gives me headaches actually so well... Ouch.

We'll see :D

(thanks Tish & Phalae), I didn't know the FPS abbreviation was also used for first person shooter. Around here my friends use "shooter" to refer to FPS and FPS to refer to Frame Per Second.

And did you guys see the Unravel trailer? The whole presentation & trailer got me cried literally O.o

S'ok, I still have to think twice when I see it because Frames per Second is my first reaction too. S'ok, I live in a state with a university (Texas A&M) that decided to create a logo that you see on bumper stickers all over the state, but for whatever reason, the initials are arranged so everyone first reads it as ATM (the abbreviation for Automatic Teller Machine). I've had to explain those bumper stickers to every out-of-state relative and visitor for more than a dozen years :P

The bolded section is the kicker. There is so much variety out there with PC's and it all depends on build and budget. The sky is the limit. The Skyrim modding community is very much alive and is still busy even with a 3+ year old game. Part of the reason I just ordered the new 980 Ti GPU is just so I can play Skyrim at 4K with my ~220 mods and beautastic ENB. Yes, a super-modded 3 year old game needs 6GB of VRAM...cray cray I know.

Consoles will eventually start to hold back game development again (just like what happened with DA:I and the old gen consoles). Currently the only thing modders have to worry about is making their stuff work with PC. If a user lacks the rig to run it, then that's not the modder's problem. What will happen when the scales get tipped yet again when the mods start to leave consoles behind? The components in consoles will always be the same until a new generation comes out...whereas PC technology is constantly changing. Will the modders have to limit their mods to only PC? Or will they need to create multiple versions, one for PC and one for consoles? Modders do this stuff for free, so would it be too much to ask of them to spend more time making things work for everybody? I have a feeling it could easily get very ugly for modders.

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against consoles...it's just that eventually the technology won't be able to keep on par with what people are building mods for. Just look at the difference with DA:I. Consoles are locked at 30fps (I think?) whereas PC can easily be unlocked to get fps to run at whatever your rig can handle. That right there shows a huge difference in hardware capability. Hair mods require meshes on Ultra...do consoles even use the equivalent mesh level? Just playing devil's advocate.

You know the whole paradox...? To make mods for console you need to make it in PC. For that, need a quite powerful PC from what I heard (correct me if I'm wrong please)... How many modders can afford both console & powerful PC...? They're not exactly cheap.

Well I'm on PC that can still run a good quantity of heavy mods so I hever had the urge to play on console. But probably there are people who loves playing on console & would love to create mods for their own uses. I'm still hoping though, it's fascinating to see if this will really push the boundaries.

Anyway, with bethesda announcing tech support for XBOX 1, I'm quite sure there are people who'll try for try sake. Not sure if the biggest mods (as big as Moonpath to Elseweyr or Falskaar) can be translated to console at first step since they are huge even for PC, but well, baby step Carver ;)

I imagine with regards to modding on consoles Bethesda will put restrictions on the types of content so the game can run with little issue. So don’t expect to find 4k texture mods, very high poly models etc for console versions. If they were playing it safe I would think they would do something akin to what Valve did for DOTA 2 content, technical rules that modders have to meet for the stuff to go up online, so maximum resolution for textures, poly counts etc. If they don't so something like this I can imagine modding for consoles being rather tricky.
