Guys, this is even more off topic than E3 but whatever happen if you don't have a chain in the doors of your home you'd better install one right now. There were people just forcing entrance at my home today saying that they were chimney cleaner sent by the City. They did not want to know that my landlady had already sent one to clean my place's two month ago & forced the entrance saying that I'll be sued if I don't let them do their job & literally the first thing they do when I stupidly open the door without chain is putting a foot literally inside and forced entrance. They then look at my chimney for 5 minutes and made me pay 180€ (normal price is around 50-70€) for that. Fortunately I left the front door open & my neighbours came out because they heard something's going on. He forced them out and called them scam & go to the police & the bank directly to cancel the cheque. There were a few more guys tapping on the neighbours above, they must've been 5 in total.

When I went out the building those guys menaced me once again saying that now they had seen the inside of my place & I'll live the consequence & if I go to the police they'll sue me back for defamation etc2. Well the Police classified it as "verbal violence & menace & scam", the bank blocked the cheque alright. There are more police officers coming tomorrow for fingerprints since now it's in the Penal Law Jurisdiction (Idk what's called in English?). But seriously I'm still scared because the whole way I was sprinting (broad daylight) to the police office they followed me in car. Afterward I did not see those guys again but seriously I'm scared like hell. I think that I had never sprinted so fast in my life before. Whew, adrenaline sure worked well. And I'm still scared those guy will actually sue me. Because well, I don't have money for lawyers.

Moral of the history, never open the door if you're not waiting for a visit, AND INSTALL A CHAIN TO ALL ENTRANCE DOOR TO YOUR HOME RIGHT NOW.

That's more important than games

OMG, ceru! Are you OK??

Ceru - OMG! That's seriously terrifying! Sounds like a group of thugs busting into people's homes to plan for future robberies. I'd be shopping for a big dog (or a recording of a big angry dog that goes off every time someone knocks or rings your bell) and a tazer. And a baseball bat. With spikes. Yikes!

@Cerulione: omg, are you alright?? *hugs* I'm so sorry to hear that you have to go through all that. What a horrible experience and I hope those 2 guys were just bluffing and hope the law enforcement can deal with them soon.
Are you staying alone? Maybe it's better to have some company at home for a time being (or get a big scary dog).

Wow Ceru, that sounds pretty scary. Hope you are allright. This kind of invasion on privacy (and threats) can leave you unsettled for a long time.  I would also add to your list a peep hole to doors with no chance to see who's outside. They were a must when I lived in a flat.

I'm fine, sorry for panicking but guess that the message needs to pass, install a chain... Basically the police told me to do that. Never let anyone enter uninvited. Always open the door with the chain on so that they can't force it. Install the small hole on the door to see who's outside.

They didn't hit me or anything, just scared me. Still fortunately my next door neighbour are a pair of old couple's who's always home & they hear the whole thing going on. When they came the first thing they did was to shout very very loud and that alert the rest of the neighbours from the other floors who came down checking on what happened. Afterward they told me to always do that if ever anything like that happened once again since there are always people at home in my building.

TBH it was my error to open that damned front door when I'm not expecting anyone and not putting the chain on. Probably I'm too used that there were never problems. Most of the time when someone pushed the entrance door bell I let enter since it's 99% that neighbour kid above me who always forgets his front door key and that happened at the usual time he's coming home.

Lesson learnt

I hope you're ok, Ceru! I wouldn't worry about being sued. Those men are clearly scammers/robbers. If this had been legit they would have showed you the paperwork and you would have received warning from your landlady that these people were coming.

This is a classic 'in your face' tactic. They try to overwhelm you by being forceful; they are counting on people shutting down in the face of aggression. You did the right thing by going to the police. Just to be safe, contact your neighbours and have everyone be on the lookout for these men. If anyone spots them, take note of the time and contact the police. They won't be able to bother you if they are being bothered by the police.

Stay strong!

Oh, man, I'm so glad you're OK! Please, never open the door to anyone who can't account for themselves; anyone legitimate will be willing to wait while you call to verify that they're legitimate. I talk to people through my front door and let them think I'm rude (don't trust too much even on chains; they can keep you from closing the door.) I live in a college town, and one of the most popular scams are "cable guys" showing up, making you think your landlord sent them and implying they're setting you up for cable and internet paid for by your landlord. Then you get a large bill for installation and discover you now have a high-priced contract that takes a while to get out of. It works on a lot of the kids, sadly. And as Basement Cat said, there's virtually no chance they'd actually try to sue since they were clearly engaged in criminal fraud by representing themselves as city employees.

Take care of yourself!

We've never had any problems in my neighborhood (mostly all 2-family homes). I'm very paranoid when anybody is going to be in the house though. Luckily we both work from home so my b/f is almost always around and he looks like a bouncer. Besides, I have a personal Mabari door stop...  :D

Interesting. DLC hints from a marketing survey that appears to be legit (annoyingly I think they sent it to me, too, but my home computer won't open it now that I accidentally clicked the link at work this afternoon). It seems to be focused around whether $15 is a good price for a story-based DLC, asking questions about JoH and future DLC. But also has some story hints. (!) So, um spoilers.

Yeah, red that marketing survey thing .. Sure, I don't mind $15 for dlc.. as long as there's more Cullen content (pleasepleaseplease make it like citadel dlc XD) for friendmance and romance. I'll bite.

... Is it okay to get my hopes up on this so called 'up coming story dlc'? XD I hate the mixed feelings of dread and anticipation XD

I think the implication as that this was Story DLC III(+), with Deep Roads to be Story DLC II(+). I'd be both completely disappointed and terribly shocked if BW's most successful launch ever only got 2 story DLCs.

As for whether it's legit, there were regular BSNers on the thread saying they'd received the survey, so I buy it. (I assume marketing surveys aren't NDA'd?) Though whether the survey was trying to throw people off on details and was really just getting at the $$ people are willing to pay by describing a fake/generic story is a different question.

I'm disappointed the DLC fitting that description is only being pitched at $15 (at least for now), because I'd have hoped that a DLC addressing both
Spoiler
would be significantly longer than JoH, which would imply more expensive. Especially if it also includes
Spoiler
like that description.

Cost doesn’t necessarily correlate with the size/quality of a DLC. `The Citadel DLC was $15 and so was the Omega DLC. Omega DLC had maybe 3-4 hours worth of content, most of it combat orientated, Citadel had a lot more content and it was more varied.

I think the only reason they’re asking about whether people would be willing to spend $15 on DLC like that is because loads of people were complaining that JOH, which was around $12 I think, wasn’t worth it. They’re trying to gage what people see as value for money so they can entice more people to buy future DLC.

Hmm, I'll accept it's probably legitimate then, but I'm skeptical about them managing what's implied in the survey for that amount of money unless they had a lot of content that just barely missed being ready for DAI that they're using now. I also am concerned by the "face a great evil" which in that sounds like it's the same thing as "the one who started it all," which suggests Solas. If they rewrite him into a simple villain, I'm not going to be that enthusiastic, to say the least. It sounds like so much content that I'm afraid they may just drop the answers abruptly in our laps to free up resources to do all the combat/war portion. While the content of a DLC at that price can vary a lot, there are practical cost limits on what they can deliver. The only reason I'm not too worried about them blowing off the Solas story with some two minute encounter is Patrick Weekes wrote Solas and I don't think he'd do that to one of his one characters.

However, if you're deciding the future of the Inquisition, I think are odds are pretty good for the advisors to appear in person to debate it, which means possibly some Cullen.

It was $15 (well, 14.99) and while I didn't feel cheated, I wish there had been more.

Never buzz in anyone that you didn't know personally and can't get a visual on. People used to do this at an apartment I lived awhile back saying "oh, I'm a friend of..." and I'd tell them they'd have to come back or wait outside. We had stuff stolen because people have just let others in. Something that I've noticed in a few other buildings is installing wire doors or security doors.

I know it must be a little scarey but at least you have good neighbours and they know when somethings up. Stay safe Ceru :)

EDIT: As for that survey, I'm not sure what to make of it. If that's one DLC it sounds like it will be massive unless they gloss over a lot

I'm just worried that with all the noise made about the lackluster ending, they're gonna go in for kill (literally) in terms of player tears. And my inquisitor drank from the well, so I'm hoping she doesn't end up going out

Spoiler
. Just to keep it Cullen related, when he says "the consequences of drinking from that well... never mind", is that romance only? If so

I agree that it sounds ambitious for $15, but then I think price is relative, which is probably why they're asking. I think it's encouraging that they heard the grumbling about JoH and how it's basically just an unfinished side quest for a whole $15. Plus, it's just marketing, so inevitably the description is going to be vague and overpromising. It didn't say anything surprising either, except for perhaps the Qunari thing. But even that could just be one fight with the qunari.

Anyway, the one thing I thought was exciting was the "confront the one who started it all" part. Yeah, we figured we'd have the Come to Mythal talk with Solas about his role in everything, but it's still exciting to see that it's plot related and not just finding your ex-boyfriend (which better also be in there). Annoyingly... it also reminds me quite a bit of Witch Hunt, which seriously overpromised our reunion with Morrigan. But I'd like to think that BW learned their lesson on that one.
