So, I noticed today that there is a wartable mission for Varric (The Search for the Hack Writer) where Cullen says he has a friend in the guard and if you choose him the report is from Brennan who we know from DA2.

 

According to the wiki Brennan is a "close friend" of Cullen. 

Cullen just says in this mission that he has a friend not a close friend in the guard. Have you encountered more missions or dialog where Brennan is mentioned?

 

I would expect only Kirkwall missions to be related to Brennan as she is in the Kirwall guard. So far I couldn't find other missions with her in the wiki.

 

 

And if you don't know it already I wanted to make you aware of this blog, which features Cullen of course but also some other very special characters

Actually I was quite sure that I didn't manage to find Barris during attack of Haven if I side with Mages. The lieutenant was Denam (if side with Templar' it's Fiona). So the only way to ensure Barris death is actually by siding with templars & let the great hall health level down?

Yeah. Which sort of makes it even more of a bummer that he can die. You were so close to making him plausibly alive regardless of player choice, writers!

True, I was just wondering if I might have missed something. Using his first name doesn't mean much besides being informal (because she did not use his title) but as he is always introduced as title + Cullen (so with his first name instead of last name) it is not surprising people call him that.

 

I was a little surprised to see that he has friends in the guard, I always thought his friends in Kirwall are templars, but of course, he did had interactions with other people (like Hawke). It would have been nice if a friendship with Hawke would have been recognized in DAI.

I assume that if you side with the mages, Barris dies the same way Alexius does if you side with the templars, as in off screen, but instead of venatori he's killed by the red templars. I don't know though, I was just going by what everyone else seems to say about him.

 

Would it be totally obnoxious to post a drawing I just finished? It's the second piece of digital art I've ever done and the first of Cullen. I'm pretty happy with it, all things considered.

I'm pretty certain there's nothing about this in DA2, so if that's all there is in DA:I (this is the first I've heard of it!), then someone needs to change the wiki.

Thank you so much!!! And thank you R2 aswell   Her name is Maerwynne. It was supposed to be Marwen but I didn't write it down and forgot what the name was exactly and how to pronounce it. I like Maerwynne better now anyway Thank you so much for asking, I could talk forever about her! And your drawings aren't bad, do you know how much talent it took to draw your cullen/dragonborn crossover? A lot!!

Marwen sounds a bit breton, reminds me a bit of Morwen.

I like to think Cullen, Barris and Rylen are the templar trinity of bros. In my head, they all get together once every few months (after inquisition) and have a boys night in (Cullen practices keeping his clothes for when he plays cards against Josie)

 

I didn't even think about Barris being dead if you side with the mages. I'm glad that templars are close to my inquisitor's heart 'cause that means he always gets to live Although I miss not being able to meet felix, and telling Cullen that my inquisior wouldn't change anything because then she might not have met him. The price we pay for our character's canon

 

This is canon. I'm absolutely certain that it's canon.

 

Also, it is canon that Barris never dies. EVER.

 

^ though, okay, on that note, did anyone else find that DAI sort of plays like 2 games in 1? 3, really. there's:

 

Plotline RPG - all the major quests

Skyrim RPG - wander around in a massive map and kill things

Sims - Haven/Skyhold time

 

and then there's the wartable, which was like an app game or something. push button, check in later and laugh at the terror that i let someone (usually cullen) unleash on thedas.

 

some of cullen's responses to wartable missions are epic badass. some of them are hilariously bad ideas. like, you just made SUCH a mess of that, but i'm laughing too hard to want to go back and make it right (<< mainly thinking his approach to the trevelyan family quest)

Yep, it breaks mod manager and mods. But you can at least play with the mods if you increase the version in the patch mod folder in the mft file. Many thanks to tklivory for this solution. 

 

But the mod manager needs a new fix.

 

I really wish Bioware would be a little more carefull with their changes - this was not even a SP patch but MP and still it broke the mod manager.

Someone can correct me, but I think you can have a fling with Bull without it becoming a romance, but I don't know what the triggers are to avoid. I know you can break up with Solas at the last minute and still start a romance with Cullen.
