Agree. I think the only first hand evidence we have is that old templar in Denerim, outside of the codices and WoT which are all pretty clear that it just keeps getting worse.

It seems as though I only come here anymore to dump my stuff
One day I'll have something interesting to add to the discussion. I'll stick it under a cut so you don't have to see if you're not interested in daddy Cullen.
Spoiler
Nice story to go with the pic
The pic is just too adorable.

If I recall, one of the reasons they waffle on lyrium, Templars, and addiction is because they came up with the idea for DAO, then discovered it was too complicated to implement the way they wanted to, or am I remembering wrong? Unless Alistair was smuggling lyrium potions himself, he never took any during the year+ of the blight, and my warriors who took the Templar spec didn't either which raises the possibility that some Templar abilities can be learned without any lyrium, just not nearly as effective as with it. Tevinter still has Templars, though Dorian makes it very clear that they don't have access to lyrium (and raises a whole slew of questions about Fenris's markings, but that's another issue...) Presumably the Tevinter Templars still have some of the Templar abilities, so perhaps it isn't an either/or proposition?

I'm not sure templar from tevinter have abilities. I don't remember who said this but tevinter templars are just "normal guard" they have no control on mage or magic.

Lambert was a templar in Tevinter, though, and he certainly had powers. Altho he was also a Seeker.

Dorian talks about them some, I believe, but while he doesn't specifically mention whether or not they have weaker versions of those skills, they are still sent to arrest mages accused of blood magic (but really just people who've honked off the magisterium.) There is one mission result which indicates that Tevinter mages don't normally encounter Templars with strong abilities, but I'm not sure we can eliminate the possibility of learning weak versions of some abilities without lyrium (otherwise, why would the Chantry have been concerned about Alistair teaching people?) And honestly, why would the Tevinter chantry even bother calling them Templars at all if they don't have some abilities?
Edit: I should add, Dorian says they don't have authority over mages unless specifically sent to enforce something, but not whether or not they have any of the Templars' skills.

I was thinking of that.

However, both in the comics and in Inquisition, we have magisters in Tevinter being completely stunned by Templars using magic-annuling abilities. In the comics we have Alistair using Cleanse to everyone's shock, and in Inquisition we have that mission where Cullen says "It seems Dorian was correct: not only do Tevinter templars not possess the ability to disrupt magic, Tevinter magisters are flummoxed when they encounter such abilities." It seems the Templars in Tevinter are really just there for the pretense that there is any semblance of control, because in practice they don't really do anything.
So Lambert probably had no abilities as a Templar in Tevinter (which may have contributed to his grievance then, seeing all the evil magic there and being just a glorified foot soldier, not able to do anything about it), and only got them after being promoted to Seeker and undergoing the -spoiler- ritual.

Indeed. Seems so, according to DG. "The majority of Imperial templars, however, lack the ability to counter magic. They are primarily soldiers." Of course note the caveats, as it doesn't say all, but that still is curious.

So all this Templar talk really made me miss my Templar playthrough. I decided to start another one and see where it goes. Meet Sinclair Trevelyan:
My inspiration for her face was Rhona Mitra. I watched "Doomsday" yesterday and remembered how stunning she is. I was like "Yup, time to play in the CC!"

That's what I say, I've never seen that haircut in the regular game so I guess this is a mod on PC ? I wish there were choices like this without mods. Can't use mods on ps4 ![]()

This blog has compiled lists of all available hair mods. The hair pictured is available and is on this list - it is the "Human Female long hair."
I've noticed that a huge portion of mods are not available on the nexus. For whatever reason, some mod authors choose not to make their stuff available on the nexus and are only available on Tumblr or via other means. DA:I mods are all over the place. The best thing to do is follow the blog I linked.

Is a Templar playthrough (both siding with and spec) fun for a Cullenmance, been debating about doing one for a while?
And Rhona Mitra is one of the most stunning women on the planet, she needs to be in more things (and I need to catch up on The Last Ship).

Playing on ps4 is fine, my character looks nice. I would just like more hairstyle choices but it won't make me play on PC instead.
Why don't BioWare put an update with more hairstyles? CDprojekt did a free DLC with haircuts in The Witcher 3.

In a next playthrough I'd try to do a mage. Templar romance seems too sad with all that lyrium stuff
I'd like to try to romance Iron bull but it will be too hard to resist Cullen, I'll fall in his love trap again XD

I tried a Templar once, romancing Cullen, got to the 'talk' and I just couldn't do it, ended up doing a Reaver. I am much more comfortable playing a mage though, don't have to chase enemies around and given the amount of magic being the main thrust of the story I just feel more involved as a mage.
Poor Cullen, in other romance play throughs I still always flirt with him when I can so we always have this affection thing going on but can never really act on it. It works well with Solas because well you know lol. I suppose you can always have IB go back to the Qun and headcannon your Inq and Cullen getting together post game ![]()

Bull or Blackwall means I have to go for Dwarf or Qunari, simply so I'm not tempted by Cullen... and why Cullen has to be human only, because if I tried an Elf I just know that I'd be lured away by Solas.
The hairstyles and bad Skyhold pjs have been a constant complaint since before day one, I think at this point Bioware are being stubborn and simply refusing to patch it in because they don't want to admit that they have no sense of style whatsoever.
