Actually it's really funny... Because there's several blond guys I know IRL who got their stubbles/beard not black but quite blond/light brown. I'm rather surprised to see Cullen's black stubbles.

To be honest, I don't think there ever will be an official version. They seemed to have thought a lot about fanfiction and headcanons when it comes to little details like this, so I think they'll leave it up to our imaginations.

I like to headcanon that in addition to the Waking Sea being an absolute nightmare to cross because of the bad weather it seems to attract, the only boat available was a complete deathtrap of loose or unsecured rigging that would often whip about in the wind. Most of the passengers had to quickly learn how to duck and dodge during the fortnight they spent onboard, those who didn't ended up with bruises or scars.

I really like that stubble, but would prefer it a little lighter and definitely with some salt and pepper, so yes, I'd be interested. I'm generally OK with his hair itself (mostly I've just grown used to the change, lol.)
MelissaGT, do you have a deviantart page? so if I understand well you use HD screenshots and then you "improve" them? that looks great, the result is stunning. Or you use a 3D software or something?

I use a mod that has him with a lighter thicker stubble, he's very sexy both dark and light, would be very interested to see it mixed and the other parts sound good too.

I admit that depending on the lights his hair can look different, but not only his.
I had to change the hair color of my character (it was dark brown) because with some lights it looked blonde 
so I chose "black" instead, like this I was sure to have it dark all the time. But even like this it looks sometimes grey when there is too much light on it...

Not sure what you mean by "improve" them? All of my screenshots are 100% in-game and un-edited short of adding a watermark. The stubble I posted above is a quick mod I made by tweaking Cullen's face texture. It took about 2hrs to get that.
I do have both Flickr and Tumblr - they're both linked in my sig. My best stuff (and better quality) is on Flickr.
Ah ok I thought you were adding details with a software, but it's a mod you did and then made a screenshot of it, right? I mean, in the game I cannot zoom like this on his face, that's why, I was wondering.

I'd be interested in a version with more salt than pepper, if you were to make variants, but I can always recolor it myself too if you release only the current version, so here's another vote for releasing it. It looks great as it is already.
(I've been merging different Cullen retextures for personal use too, because a lot of retextures add nice details like more scars or better facial hair or a jaw that resembles his DA2 model more closely, but they also always make him cleaner and younger around the eyes, when what I'm looking to do is make him look older, more weathered and battle-worn. Salt and pepper noodle definitely does it for this 30-something here too.
Yeah, I've noticed a lot make him look younger. Each to their own - just not for me! That's what prompted me to try and build my own, because I really like his face to begin with since it's nice and weathered and has flaws. I don't want to change him much at all - just add some scruff. Font's high-rez texture is perfect to build off of since it looks great up-close.

I've noticed that a lot of the mods are built off the vanilla texture, which doesn't look so hot close-up and high-rez. That's what prompted me to try and build my own off font's 3k texture, because that looks great up close to begin with.

He looks good to me (not hard to accomplish lol ) but that looks plenty, but maybe a little more from the center of his chin to his bottom lip? If thats doable and you want to of course

I like it, and would definitely be interested in seeing what you can do with respect to curly more realistic hair and/or greying! (edit: sorry, I think I misread your post re:hair mesh on the first pass) But one thing I like about Cullen's vanilla stubble is that it seems to be thicker in the same shape around his mouth and nose as his old goatee (which is also how my husband's grows, which makes it seem more realistic to me I guess?), and it looks pretty uniform here. I've never dated someone with more beard than in-game Cullen, and it's never occurred to me to look closely at strangers' stubble, so I have no idea if it generally does even out that quickly or not; just a thought.
(also seeing as you seem to have successfully modified his facial hair without making him look weirdly smooth like those mods generally do... if you ever happen to make one with aforementioned DA2 goatee, that would be rad as hell)

Agree. It seems I'm in the minority, but I've never been that fond of the extreme stubble they added for DA:I and prefer his DA2 goatee. Ironically, my own husband's scruff grows mostly in his goatee area as well, so I've always headcanoned that Cullen's is the same. I *would* love to see it lighter or salt and peppery... not that I'd probably install it (since I don't like modding my game), but I'd love to see it!
