Thank you! :)

The other time I visited Cullen's quarters and my IQ said "can I borrow you?" and I never had that answer before, he had a charming laugh and said "haha, yes, by all means. Give me a minute." that was cute ^o^

I also wonder, when he takes you to Ferelden and his lake, that's quite far, no? Days of travel I guess, just for 5 minutes near a lake? OK in your headcanon you can imagine much more but it was near his family's house I guess, his sister would be mad if she knew that he came so close without paying a visit :P

His siblings don't live near that lake anymore, he says they moved to South Reach after the blight, so no he's not quite close enough for a visit

I agree with how it seems like it would be days travel to that lake but I guess video game logic is needed there.

Agreed, until this point. Then we have to "agree to disagree"! :D This, to me, is "headcanon" not fact. We have no idea if the guy (*cough* Cullen *cough*) "admires" her at this point in time. All we know for fact is that he has a crush on her. Others have headcanon'ed/fan fic'ed that it's not admiration but lust that has fueled the crush, and that his assumptions about her are clouded/misguided (at the time) by his own prejudices. Unarmed? No, all mages are being trained up until their harrowing. I find it extremely hard to believe that they are being trained to fail by their mentors (although I suppose that could happen in a Circle). You're assuming actual combat? If you are talking about mental combat/willpower/ability to resist temptation, then I agree (but still believe their training in the Circle is to help mitigate this). If you are talking hand-to-hand combat, I don't agree. Again, this is headcanon on both ends. They have never said officially EXACTLY what happens to every Mage during their harrowing. You're a Circle mage that is essentially a wunderkind. Your life in the Circle, to me, was very similar to Wynne's. Yes, the Circles (outside of Tevinter) are glorified mage prisons, but there is nothing in the origin that speaks to you not thriving in that environment, unlike Jowan. (On a side note, I think Vivienne broke it down well in DAI about the Circles when you talked to her about them. Some were mage prisons, others like Montsimmard acted like mage finishing schools for nobles, while where were other Circles that were "Circles" in name only to placate the Chantry *I'm trying to find the codex entry that talks about that one, cuz it was REALLY interesting*) Now on to Jowan, to me (in the playthroughs), he was a ******-poor best friend. He reeked of insincerity from the start. To the point where I wondered why in the blazes I would EVER be friends with him. To me the story just didn't mesh no matter how I played the character. Your BEST friend is a blood mage, but you didn't know...hrmm, ok. Then the best friend asks you to risk all so he can run off with the girl of his dreams, then *boom* he busts out blood magic. It wasn't tragic to me, it was almost laughable. Everything was great? Not to me. Your brother and father are going to war. That's not a small thing. You are being tasked to hold it together while their gone. Again, not a small thing. The Circle (as they are designed outside of Tevinter at least) are prisons. But Cousland is in a different kind of prison, a gilded one. It's easy to say "well boohoo for the rich noble!", but it doesn't make it any less of a trapped situation (depending on how you play the character of course). Also, the Mage storyline also gives a unique path of revenge. You get to confront Jowan AND you get to confront Uldred. You get two different paths for revenge. Uldred was as moustache-twirling as Howe to me. Seeing Jowan gives you a chance for revenge or mercy. You don't get that dual choice with Cousland. Howe gets killed regardless of what you might want. The downfall of the Amell house in Kirkwall can be landed squarely on the shoulders of two people: Leandra and Gamlen. Leandra decided to run off with Malcolm (for good reasons, but she STILL ran off). Gamlen then proceeded to squander every single gold coin in her absense. It wasn't magic that destroyed their noble status (although mage blood did NOT help the matter), it was incompetence and the choices made by these two siblings. Totally agree! The dwarf story is bloody tragic (OMG). But yep, everybody has their own opinion. A testament to a well-made game/gaming franchise in my humble opinion. I think it's totally on topic! :D Although I don't agree with folks, I do love hearing differences of opinion (respectfully given of course!). One of the many reasons why this is the only thread on BSN that I bother reading/posting to. So, thank you. :)

Thanks now gotta go back to DAO and play threw it all again just cause need it. Hey guys! Just wanted to check in and let you know that I tried using the new wacom tablet last night. OMGoodness I feel like an 80 year old trying to figure out email for the first time. I know I can draw on paper, but this thing I have no flipping clue. Good thing it came with a 30-day subscription to on-line classes for it. I promise though I will try and work on "DA:2 style Cullen" this weekend and post up some progress shots. I think I can finish that mod without the tablet.

Don't worry it always feel like this at the beggining. Even me, after all this time, I don't "draw" lines wih the tablet, I just color. I pefer drawing lines with a pencil ^^

- Fawna : I didn't know there was a pack DLC with new looks for the armors?

-Ashaantha: Oh, I see, I didn't remember him saying that they moved after the Blight. That lake looked a bit creepy, like in the abandonned swamps full of undeads  :P "Nice lake Cullen. Oh, look, a zombie is swimming over there!" but I guess it was looking more beautiful before the blight.

Yeah, that's the case for everywhere you travel in game, tho. I'm glad they finally addressed travel time *somewhat* at the end when

Spoiler
(spoilered, since Vana hasn't finished the game yet)

For the date, I try to imagine that Cullen tags along for one of your lengthy trips to the Hinterlands, and you guys take a side trip along the way to stop in at Honnleath for your date. ^_^ Just add in UST caused by overnight trips with your crush sleeping alone just one tent over, and it adds a nice layer to the progressing romance. :D

Yes I would have liked to see a little scene with a camp, tents, a little fire...  :P (like in DA:O)

Yes I know there is instant teleportation on the map when you want to, but it's not very roleplay during a romance/dialogue ("Hey Inquisitor, let's do an instant teleportation to Honnleath, just for 5 minutes") haha.

I imagine a nice long coach ride (if they have coaches...they do in my head any way lol), with Cullen leaning against the window and my Inq leaning against him, his arm in her lap as they hold hands.

They have their moment by the lake, then he shows her the remains of the cubby house he built with his brother all those years before, and although it's not in great condition, it's good enough to shelter them for the night, where they make more memories for him to be happy there with

I guess it depends on how you interpret the timing because there was no UST for my mage and Cullen :P. Since nothing was said about when that tension was actually first resolved, I've always taken the desk scene as, um, a celebration of commitment. But I love how flexible they left things like that so not everyone is forced into the same mold. Everyone's IQ has a different personality, which means different timing. I liked to imagine a couple of over nights during the trip involving both of them in a single tent (and soldiers trying to keep a straight face the next day.) Considering his propensity for kissing on the battlements in plain sight and sex in his office with unlocked doors, I don't see he'd really balk at that...

Well... Lothering is supposed to be in the arling of South Reach, so it's not that far away from Haven/Skyhold. Methinks that Cullen just doesn't want Mia to know where he is in order to prevent her visiting him and telling everyone embarrassing stories.

Well I think they didn't do that on the desk (I'd love to but I'm thinking about him taking ages to take off his armor haha, more like:"hey let's continue that upstairs, OK?") especially if there are all these soldiers coming and going through the office all the time. Cullen said he likes to keep his private life private, so I don't imagine him having sex just next to his men or with the risk of being disturbed in the middle of action, I guess he learned the lesson with the first kiss scene XD he wouldn't want that to happen again. He's a shy guy ^^ To my eyes the desk scene was their first time, but others might see that differently.

And the kisses in plain sight... It's just innocent kisses so that's différent :P they don't do that in the middle of the hall ;)

That would be funny :P
Sister:"When he was 6 he did pee in his bed, remember?"
Cullen: "Maker's breath, don't talk about that!"

It's all in interpretation. I believe the writer stated that she left things like this very open for personal headcannon, so they're all valid. Myself, I tend to give weight to the extremely suggestive position on the desk (by the time you're on a desk in that position, you might as well be caught in the act, lol) and a later comment you can get on the sturdiness of the desk, but that's me. I don't actually interpret him as all that shy myself, more lacking self-confidence. But while there were things I think most of us think should have been addressed (like what happened between DA2 and DA3 that changes his opinions on some things so much,) leaving these things so open to interpretation means we all get the romance we want, or even different romances on different PTs... :P

You know what bugs me. The fact that Cullen knew Hawke quite well and there is no interaction or mention of that in DA:I when Hawke appears. It also really bugs me that Leliana, Allistair, and Morrigan (depending on your party) were involved in rescuing Cullen from Uldred and again - no reference to that in the game. <_<

I don't remember anything about the plot of DA2, I don't even remember Cullen in it, shame on me. It was so long ago and I didn't finish the game, but I will start a new playthrough. That's why not seeing Hawke interacting with him didn't bug me.

Depending on your glitches with that scene, yes, in fact they can. The first vid I saw of it, the week the game released, showed one of the doors to the battlements standing wide open while he helps you onto the desk :P

Spoiler

I suppose I've never been able to headcannon him as that secretive between seeing that version first, their first very public kiss (and about the only place more public would have been the main hall,) and the fact that whatever happened upstairs during the night probably occurred with soldiers passing through his office  It is a major intersection on the walls, after all.

The armor is a whole 'nother question (I've been in discussions with a couple of people on what would actually be involved in un-armoring someone in a romance scene. Having actually helped people in and out of armor, I highly recommend having people start a romantic scene in a story in normal clothes (for one thing, I don't care how cool it is, when you get down to the bottom layer, they're going to be pretty sweaty.) Now, helping someone put on their armor in a story, that can be very romantic or sexy, especially since it's much less likely to feel, um, urgent ;)
