Ooops, didn't mean to make it sound like WoT2 said that was why. It's just fairly obvious (to me) once you know that. And he's Ferelden, I'm sure they are like most cold weather countries about at least pretending to be indifferent to the weather...

Just making sure it doesn't become "known" that WoT2 said he lives with a hole in his roof because of claustrophobia! LOL Even if that's part of it, honestly, I still think it's odd and easily just an aesthetic choice when designing a, erm, romance novel like setting for his bed. ^_^

I do too, I kind of wonder if the hole in the roof came first, and the claustrophobia grew out of trying to think of a plausible reason for it.

One would hope there is one! :)

There's also the fact that leaving gaping holes in Skyhold's defensive perimeter seems like a bad idea. Even in the roof - after all, your enemy has a flying war machine on its side.

The most annoying hole... well it's not a hole, it's whole wall collapsed. The one near stables. They could at least get rid of rubble.

I went through my old screenshots and found a few nice ones of Cullen. Copied to new folder, so I have what to post.

Sooo... more Lyrium teases, this time with Cullen, altho the link goes to the same page as before on Lyrium lore.

It's like they're toying with us. So help me if they turn a happy ending into a nightmare. I mean, you can't be with him if he keeps taking lyrium [permanently], I'm not talking about the find a solution later choice. I'm fine with repercussions but...he's been through enough hasn't he?

No it would be too cruel to make a DLC-drama to spoil the happy ending of Cullen.

Anyway if you told him to stop taking lyrium he seems much happier in the prayer scene, or at least more peaceful with himself. You can feel serenity.

So it would be strange to have a DLC saying he finally took lyrium or had side effects... because it would mean that your choice of making him stop or not in the main game would have no consequence on what happens to him in the future...

LOL I think they're definitely toying with us! But, I'll honestly be shocked if they turn Cullen's story into an unhappy, lyrium-addled ending, for many reasons but mostly for the fact that it's unlikely they'd spend so many words on him. My feeling is that including him in their Deep Roads/dwarves taunting is mostly to make the Cullen fan ears perk up. Nothing more.

I personally think they did that tweet only for the question "are the benefits of lyrium usage worth the risk?" which they'd throw in there because they recently shared a lyrium lore section. I doubt it actually has anything to do with Cullen, he's just a character in the game with a decision about lyrium use, so they were able to ask about his quest thingy there.

They would just make the fans sad, only the Cullen haters would be happy, and I don't think they'd do that, according to what I've read about the staff opinion about haters.

Do you miss the "presents" system to rise the approval of your companions? I think it could be nice but only like the book we get for Cassandra: a few presents, but with a little story for each one. Not just giving 5 jewels, 2 statues, 3 books found here and there to get +3, +2, +2 approval.

I remember when in DA:O I was giving almost everything to Alistair, just to hear him says "for me? thank you!"  :P (I made a little comic about it long ago XD)

I definitely do not miss the presents from DAO, "here have 20 cakes" .. "aww you're deeply in love with me now, that's sweet."

I did like the DA2 version though, those gifts (I think there was one per companion) actually had a meaning to them.

Nice comic though! so true, I used to pile all my presents from DAo (other then companion specific) on Alistair.

I liked special gifts like Alistair's Mother's Amulet or Cute Nug. DA2 did a right thing and got rid of that unreasonable way of getting approval.

Tho I collected all unused gifts and carried them over to Awakening. Really useful.

@Vanalia Your comic is really funny... and so true.

That reminds me... I have to finally put my Connie drawing on the wall...

Your drawing? where is it? :)

Yes getting approval just with gifts sounded a bit manipulative and interested  :P that's why I suggest that one or two presents but "with a meaning" would be nice in DA:I, but they did that only for Cassandra. But it would have been interesting to see that for the others as well. And have a little cutscene :) *gives a Mabari plushie to Cullen*

Normally I draw for myself and don't post on internet. Deviantart kinda killed my enthusiasm for sharing... Although I must admit lately it's coming back.

If I were to pick gift for Cullen... Actually I wouldn't pick regular gift. I would place my bet on 'surprise' factor. I would organise meeting with his siblings.

Also good occassion to meet your future family... ekhm...

Nice portrait, she is very cute!

Deviantart can be really frustrating because it's a lot about building a network of watchers, but I feel like Tumblr is like this, too. No watchers = no likes/reblog etc (unless someone really popular reblogs your stuff).

I'm not sure he would like surprises like a surprise meeting with his siblings, I guess that he would be very embarassed  :P (happy but embarassed especially because they would tell the IQ a lot of things he doesn't want her to hear!)

A gift like a little something special he would keep on him or in a pocket could be nice, like a little wooden lucky charm she carved or something ^^

That doesn't have to come from a romance, though (cough---looking at a chapter of my dwarven story from about a month ago when she makes sure she's long gone before he finds a carving he watched her working on left on his desk so neither ever has to mention it---cough,) it can just be a friendly gesture. I admit, I miss at least the special gifts from DAO, like giving Sten his sword back and giving Shale a pet rock (probably the funniest gift imo, but I love Shale.) Trying to buy affection makes a certain amount of sense if you're playing a manipulator or cynical person, but a couple of mine would cheerfully have showered several of the companions with little things she thought they'd like just because they'd smile.

True, it's possible to give little gifts just for the pleasure to give pleasure :) the artifical thing was the fact that it was possible to go from "hated" to "loved" just with gifts  :P like if gifts could buy friendship ^^

I think friendship gifts are as important as romance ones. (Your Cadash must have worked hard to find that brief moment when he's not at his office working.)

I love that moment when you give Sten back his sword! Then I run to Dog, because Sten/Dog scene you get after that is wonderful.

If I remember correctly, after that Sten refers to Warden as 'kadan'. When Bull explains what does it mean, I was really surprised.

Yeah, approval system was kinda messed up in DAO with those in-game gifts and later with gift packs you could buy. You could literally do everything your companions disapprove of, yet you could easily make them love you.

I do miss the special gifts. Giving Zevran leather gloves and that making him open up abous his past, giving Alistair his mother's amulet and that making him confess he has conflicting feelings about Eamon, giving Sebastian his grandfather's bow and getting that great line about trading anything to save even the lowest of servants, giving Fenris the book and getting the chance to teach him to read... those were such strong, formative moments for those characters, whether you were romancing them or not. I'd have loved to be able to give Cullen something so meaningful that it disarmed his defenses and let you see deeper into him like that, too.

Why not secundary quests with that kind of "special present" at the end, it could be a lot better than some average loot you usually find after completing quests (astrotariums, shards...) and the special gift given to the right person would trigger a little cutscene :)

Nah, she's a rogue, she used sleight of hand to leave it on a stack of papers when he wasn't looking ;) :P Because she'd have been even more embarrassed than him if he caught her.

Edit: And yes, I love the interactions between Sten and Dog, particularly that one. Though what Sten said and his actual actions were never the same thing (did you ever have him in the party with Leliana? She caught him at all sorts of things.)

Agree (and with everyone else) that meaningful gifts could add to your interaction with the characters. I can see why they went away from the gifts-for-approval model, esp after the devs commented on not wanting it to be transactional after some other games coughcough did romance that way.

I think what we really want is the story you get from the gift. Now *that's* an item pack I'd buy for DA:I; nameday or satinalia gifts for your companions that earn you a little story or side quest. :D

Leliana is my main rogue in most of my playthroughs, so the answer is yes  :D

+1 I would buy this item pack on a spot! +2 If it contained not only serious gifts, but also hilarious ones (I still can't get over dog collar).

Anyone else hear Cullen laugh about Morvan at the war-table if you decide to give him to Abernache?

It was not just some passing chuckle, it was a legit LOL.

That is now my preferred ruling for his judgment.
