Soooo to come back to Cullen, as I was curious about Sera story about making an Inquisition tattoo on Cullen, I found this! hey, that would look good on him

I think some of you may have already seen this on Tumblr, but I thought I should share my latest Cullen drawing with you anyway You know, for the sake of posterity, when people will want to go to a complete resource on Cullen, and will turn to this thread

Oh my, that's amazing! I like to think Cullen "surprises" the Inquisitor in her chambers when he can. It's not something he does right away considering how shy and awkdorkable he is about that sort of thing but after the desk shenanigans, I bet he learns to be a bit more daring . She expects him to be busy too so can you imagine the look on her face walking into her chambers and seeing something like the above picture! How funny would it be if Cullen got caught trying to seduce the Inquisitor and having to explain it lol!

Did Cullen even met Alistair? when he was talking about that young guy at the chantry (?) who was naked in front of everyone, was it Alistair? I think I remember Alistair talking about something like this in DA:O. But I could be mistaken.

Alistair can be present during the Broken Circle sequences, but I suspect Alistair would be more likely to remember Cullen than vice-versa. And I don't recall anything about that in DAO. The closest I can think of is maybe when Alistair tells Morrigan in banter that if Duncan hadn't recruited him, he'd have "turned into a drooling lunatic, slaughtered the Grand Cleric and run through the streets of Denerim in my small clothes?"

Leliana, Morrigan and Alistair all potentially could both have been present to rescue Cullen from Uldred.

 

Varric and Hawke knew Cullen from Kirkwall. I find it odd and somewhat maddening  that there was no mention or reference to these connections at all.

I agree here. I know Cullen does mention that he knew Varric was friends with the Champion of Kirkwall but little else, it's during investigation conversations in Haven. Wish connections were made more often for this sort of thing, but oh well.

Jumping in here...Could you be thinking of when he told the Warden that they used to have pillow fights while jumping around on the beds, and they could go all night on confession days.

 

While playing with a Solas and Bull romance I noticed a couple of lines Cullen changes because he is not romanced and I was like awww. Esp when running through the Arbor Wilds and you meet up with him fighting, romanced he shouts that he has this and to keep going but non romanced he will shout to 'press on, Inquisitor'. I love those little changes that make you know you're romancing him. 

Lol and I decided to change up a response when just about to star the Arbor wilds when Cullen asks if I have something to say....'This is going to hurt' line gives you a nice little Cullen half smirk...it's so cute.

Oh, and about that line "I'm fine, keep going" before the Temple of Mythal, someone told me that he says that not when he is romanced, but because he took a hit in the fight. It seemed to her that he says that because he was hit (but the fight is a bit confused so I didn't see him being hit). So I don't really know, in fact.

Yeah, it's kind of funny that after all the major plot points that both Cullen and Hawke were involved in, their acquaintance is illustrated as a distant one. Good thing we have plenty of awesome fanfic correcting that small oversight

I've never finished even one mosaic, on any playthrough. So no! Did they show you what the final mosaic looks like? I don't quite understand what it shows, outside of the missing seven suspicious magisters. 

 

If you play on PC, the latest patch has all the pieces spawn in the proper places (the notoriously problematic two in the Hinterlands have been fixed) and appear on the wall once you hit Skyhold, my latest Trevelyan and Cadash finally managed to complete the mosiacs recently.

 

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to apply them retro-actively if you've already picked them up. I noticed when I loaded up my Lavellan to do the Descent DLC, she still has missing bits on the mosiac on the wall despite having collected all but one of the pieces.

Yeah, they dropped the ball when it came to some connections. In my latest Cadash playthrough, it's maddening that Leliana travelled with Shale, yet she never brings up the subject of knowing a golem distantly related to the Inquisitor once.

Especially when the Descent DLC revealed that one reason House Cadash was exiled several generations ago, was for aggressively hounding the Shaperate for information about Shale. Something Leliana could easily enlighten the modern day descendants on, if she wasn't seemingly too busy keeping that information along with her suspicions about Blackwall to herself?

Ah! I didn't know that there was a bug with the mosaics. I did notice that you can see the illustrations inside the collections screen. So maybe that picture will be more clear once I actually finish them. Guess I have my work cut out for me! Lol

On Leliana, she actually can meet Hawke if you have Sebastian DLC, but yes, point quite taken! I guess Hawke and Cullen not knowing each other will continue to be a snide joke. I may even have to write a story specifically about that!

Also thanks for the tidbit about Cadash. I didn't know that! Glad that there was at least a little tailored content for dwarf IQs.

Well, I meant Hawke and Leliana's interaction pre-Kirkwall was offscreen. I did like how in Inquisition she mentions having met them in Kirkwall during the events of Sebastian's DLC mission, although she doesn't mention their other brief encounter at Chateau-Haine.

 

Although, that does raise some questions about why Hawke didn't recognise her in Seb's quest... unless the line asking "The Leliana?" was because they did recognise her, but had never thought to connect the Lothering Sister to the woman from the tales about the Warden until that point? I suppose it's made up for if you did MotA afterward Sebastian's mission, since Hawke and Leliana both remember each other in that case from their previous encounter in Kirkwall and greet each other with some familiarity.

 

There is some nice little content for dwarf IQ's in Descent, like the minor reveal that Cadash is capable of reading Ancient Dwarven (although they admit they're a bit rusty), giving us another Inquisitor besides Lavellan who's confirmed to be bilingual.

Although~ Cullen not knowing Varric too well doesn't necessarily mean he didn't know Hawke well either. You can be in a circle of friends with someone and not be too familiar with their other various circles of friends.

 

Like, in my own game, I never took Varric to the Gallows - he was on Hawke's "drinking buddies" circle that I mostly just took out to hunt bandits, not the "law & order" team that I took out to solve political crisis. So under this scenario, all Cullen would know of Varric is that he's some dwarf friend of Hawke's, and all Varric would know of Cullen is that he's some Templar that Hawke runs into a lot. Because of that, I didn't even register anything strange when Cullen said he didn't know Varric too well - it made sense to me because they never really met or talked in my game, they just periphally knew of each other's existence through Hawke's reputation.

 

Anyway, point being, it's still possible to mantain a headcanon that Hawke and Cullen were not just distant acquaintances in Kirkwall but actually friends (or, y'know, more, if you want); even with Cullen and Varric barely knowing each other. You just have to maneuver your game towards that. I consider Cullen, Hawke, Sebastian and Aveline its own separate circle of good friends in my canon, and Varric just doesn't retell much, if anything, of that in the Tale of the Champion because he was never around to see it. (also helps me handwave why there's so little development for Sebastian and Aveline in DA2, and why Cullen characterization is a bit everywhere between games  - Varric didn't know Aveline or Cullen too well, and he never liked Sebastian to begin with, so he just skimmed over and rushed through those parts of Hawke's story that he didn't care much for    )
