Poor Cullen, is he only a band aid on your IQ's heart after a Solas romance? he deserves to be chosen because he's a great man, not just because the IQ is abandonned and needs to find other arms to fall into
(yes everyone does whatever they want with their IQ story, but I read that a LOT "I will romance Cullen just because Solas broke my IQ's heart")
imagine Cullen's feelings, being ignored or rejected because the IQ prefers flirting with the elf, and then when the guy finally dumps her, she comes back to him...
I'm not critisizing anyone here, don't worry
just trying to imagine in my head how it would feel like for Cullen, being "the second choice". And his girldfriend still thinking about her elf she misses...

I would think he would wait behind after she dismissed the advisers, have a quiet one to one to make sure she was alright. Since it's the winter palace he might even try to distract her a bit by bringing up the time they danced there 2 years ago
.
I think the freakout happens in the war room (maybe? can't tell where the table of stabbity is), but yes, Cullen would be a sweetie about it. Wait for the others to leave, then hold her, maybe run a hand along her back if she's still tense, maybe hum something in her ear if she's just sad... nothing like warm comfy boyfran hugs when the world is against you. ![]()
(alternatively, seeing the IQ lose her sht like that gives him the most awkward scared boner ever, and he's just quietly waiting for everyone else to leave so he can throw her on top of the war table and take her right there
passionate angry sex also works to release tensions!)

Poor Cullen, (...) he deserves to be chosen because he's a great man,
This is why I ship him with Cassandra, when I'm not romancing him.
While my alternate Quizzies are off with Blackwall, Cullen still finds someone who values him for all he is, who cares deeply about his well being, who can be his best friend as well as give him a lover's comfort... and who has both a sweet and romantic side as well as a lowkey naughty streak, just like him.
I don't always romance him because the pull of the Problem Bear is strong, but I still want Cullen to be happy and can't stand the thougth of him ending this big journey of the Inquisition all alone with his ghosts. He still deserves to find love, even if it's not my Quizzie for that playthrough. ![]()

They've said it's not Skyhold, but a new hub.

That is if he gets to do any throwing. Cullen may just find himself up against the wall if his beloved Inquisitor has the same idea...

First, I was mostly using Cullen as an example to keep it on topic.
But I'm talking from the IQs POV; no woman or man should be reduced to an emotional eunuch and denied the chance for years to move on and notice that Cullen or Blackwall or Iron Bull or Cassandra or Josephine or Sera/Dorian or, h**l, Jim-the-poor-messenger is a great guy/gal. And in the real world, no one should be ever be treated as a consolation prize (just as friendship isn't a consolation prize women offer men they don't want sex with.) But in gaming, lots of us create PCs who do things to people that we'd never do in real life; that's why it's called role play. And everyone does it differently.
However, I was talking about the really effed up decision to lock in a romance after one half of the couple breaks up if they don't plan to let a Solasmancer have an opportunity to get back with Solas, even if it's at a price. That bluntly reduces a woman to property with no agency of her own once she enters a relationship, and that honks me off no end because a woman's needs and wants and capacity to make decisions does not vanish the second a woman commits to a relationship, and from that point forward she only exists for his needs, wants, etc. B**l s**t. Compared to most of the gaming world, BW treats female characters and players with some respect, so I'm really hoping that's not what they're pulling with this, but I'm not terribly reassured by their evasive comments.

This does not surprise me. lol.
I should also add that Cullen, actually, was my first DAI love, and I would never be able to romance Cullen after I had already romanced Solas, regardless, because that would cheapen both romances. But I loved Cullen long before some of you guys were even here. ![]()

This is why I love that the heart options continue to show up even if you are romancing someone else. It gives the chance to headcanon something blossoming deeper than friendship that can become something more later down the line. We don't always end up with that one we think is going to be there forever and that next one might just be that one. Failing to notice the one right in front of your nose, so to speak.
BW are usually good with romancing but man...sometimes they leave way too much to the imagination.

I've got 5 complete runs. My romance for those goes like this: Cullen, Cullen, Dorian, Cullen, Cullen. I sense a pattern here.

You speak my language
I'm playing only females and up till now I romanced Cullen, Solas, Iron Bull and Blackwall. Blackwall during my dwarf run and Iron Bull during my qunari run. I somehow once managed to not romance Cullen with elf and that's my Solas romance.
Rest is Cullen. At least 5 completed runs here, with 2 I still have saves of. Oh! And one more planned ![]()

Well, that's what happens in Mass Effect. I romanced Thane in ME2, so I was "locked" in this romance for ME3, even if the character appears only 2 seconds. The fact that I didn't romance other characters before made impossible to romance any other (Garrus, etc), so I got absolutly no romance in ME3. Thane barely said "hi", gave a little kiss and no more, because the poor thing is "too tired to make another kiss" (come on!!!
too tired for sex because he has a sickness, ok, but kissing?)
Well, I hope they won't do that for Solasmancers in that DLC. The problem with keeping the same hero for all the games (instead of changing like in Dragon age) is that they make impossible to have new romances or romance someone you didn't romance in a previous game.
There is more freedom for romances in Dragon age...

Yep, pretty much this (especially for the Lavellan). Honestly, Solas was really compelling (super duper compelling), but then Cullen popped up and...yeah. Only thing I can say is many kudos to the writer and the character designer for making me change my character's life choices so quickly, lol.

Ironically, for me it was almost the opposite. Cullen's like my long-term relationship and his DA:I romance has some uncanny similarities with some things I've written in the past. So romancing him in game at long last was like slipping on an old robe for me, with no real surprises. But then there's that bald elf, and he just threw me for a loop. Definitely didn't expect that, even after seeing "Chill Dude" in the War Table concept art. LOL Funny how things turn out.

I'm not sure Cullen would survive both. Or the furniture would at least.
I can see that now: Leliana and Josephine hearing crashing noises, run into the room finding a rather dazed and somewhat indisposed Cullen and a very self satisfied Herald in the middle of the wreckage of expensive antique furniture and knick knacks.

Sigh. I'm glad I spent so much time years ago in this thread, if I hadnt, I may not have had that first Cullen-mance. And that romance with Cullen is going to see me through the utter despair that will be my Solas romance.
This is the glimmer I need to focus on. I'm sure it's going to be loverly, with more happily ever after talk about what you'll do next. Hopefully another shag. I do wonder if it will touch upon the taboo marriage/babies topics, but I'm still doubting it, despite what those snooty nobles in the main hall seem to think. ![]()
I also personally doubt that we'll see a turn for the worse with his lyrium issues, which is something I've been seeing float around tumblr today. I'd honestly love for them to spend that many words on him, but I just don't see it happening. Given how short the romance beats were ingame, I imagine they'll be similarly short or shorter in the DLC. As such, I bet they'll spend them on romantic closure, not opening up more story threads. Luckily, we'll also probably get double time with seeing him at both the War Table/main plot hub stuff and privately.
