is it floating on tears?
That's a little bit scary actually. I don't want the DA series to wrap up any time soon, but at the same time how old am I going to be by the time we finally have all the answers? Will all the LI's become too young for me? Or will the protagonists continue to age with each instalment? Will we be beating the final ever boss with walking sticks? Questions abound!
At some point, yeah, they do start becoming too young for you. It's why some of us headcanon Cullen to be older than it's implied, why some of us can't romance Merrill (even though we love her as a friend), and why lots of us have been asking for an older, more rugged interest like Blackwall for a long time. Happiest moment of my romancing career in BioWare games? When Kaidan showed up with crow's feet and salt & pepper hair in ME3. It was so good to see his age and life experiences actually showing, like they should.
On the other hand, though, it also really depends on your ability to roleplay your characters outside of yourself. I can't play self-inserts at all in Origins, for instance, because the protagonist is so young and I don't have that mindframe anymore. But I can roleplay a 19 years old Warden and romance 19 years old Alistair with her, same as I can roleplay a 20 y/o Inquisitor and romance 20 y/o Sera with her (even though my canon IQ is 30-something, romancing 30-something Cullen, because that's where I'm more comfortable).
And it doesn't stop in your mild 30s. We have much older people right here in the thread and all over fandom still able to roleplay characters and romance LIs of any age, it's all in how you roll your heroes. Don't be scared to age up with the series because each game takes a long time to come out, you'll adapt around it. ![]()
As one of the aforementioned "older persons", I'll agree and say you're probably never too old to appreciate a well-written character. It's then just up to you how you prefer to, erm, appreciate that character. At some point, yeah, they do start becoming too young for you. Oh no.. I am so sorry. Now I have made you think about it. Don't worry we will get our answers before getting 80. I hope.
That's easy for ya'll to say, lol.

*cough, cough*
But while a self-insert doesn't work, as Riverbanks says, RPing can. Maturity of the LI has a lot more to do with it for me than chronological age, so I thoroughly enjoyed Zevran's romance in DAO while I admit I wanted to pat Alistair on the head at times and tell him there, there, everything will be alright (though I really enjoyed how he matured through the game.) Actually having some older LIs in this one was really nice, though, even if I am not that enthusiastic about how a couple of them were written.

Solas has to be the oldest Li we ever had and ever will have
. Except for Sera the LI in this game don't look too young. Cullen def has a more adult vibe than Alistair ever had. It's easy to imagine them older or younger. makes it easier to roleplay I guess.
Hey guys! Been a while! Finished Descent last night and am waiting anxiously to get to Tresspasser today! I just have to re-run Rhiannon quickly through the Coryphyfish fight and then I'll be able to jump right in! I still haven't finished all the companion quests with her yet, but I can always go back and re-load. I just need to know what happens!!!!
I sent a question early to the modding group and asked if they thought mods would break again today or if the update from late last week was it.

I won't let that boat door go down.

LONG LIVE
THREAD!!!
ps I send mixed message here lol
pps the old thread degraded to the 6th page of the abyss da2 character sub-forum
I have finally caught up with everything, save for my canon Trev Cully-Wullynmancer who is still tracking shards and other exciting things on my this-time-definitely-complete-completionist run
Super psyched about this dlc so please, don't make me think about what's after cause I will have a case of sads. Atm desperately trying to grind some more power since Descent drained 60p (!) from my Quizzy. Just wanted to pop in and say see you on the other side guys ![]()

Too true about Solas even if you never know it in-game (and the one "older" LI whose romance I really enjoy.)
This is shaping up to be the best yr of my LIFE
Just saw this on twitter
Also the name change ![]()

for top found it on nexus by Impressioniste
I finished it. I have no words. Brilliant.
Already? It's that short? ![]()
Already? It's that short?
It's really really awesome though
But worth the $15? I mean, I got ~7ish hours out of Descent so it was worth it.

Brilliant is the exact opposite of what I would use to describe this DLC.
Took me longer than descent. More than worth it. I don't want to spoil anything but it's SO good.
Ok thanks! Will d/l as soon as it's available!
I just hope mods don't break...but either way I will play vanilla if I have to and then re-run after mods have been fixed.

Ahh, good to hear!
Judging by the time it took you to finish Descent and comparing it to my slow-ass trudging through it I might easily prepare myself for 15+ hours. Cause you know, why to run through all the maps once if you can do that 20+ times when you're scared you miss something unimportant (dwarven mugs, looking at you now).

I guess at the moment nothing can undermine my excitement
I can even roll with dark, gloomy or obscure.
