Yes, the IQ has to have met Mia in some capacity already if Mia is eager to see her "again." I imagine Mia must have been to Skyhold already at some point of the past two years, if only to give Cullen grief about not writing home, and that's when she met the IQ. Meeting the siblings probably means we haven't met Branson and Rosalie yet, and possibly the extended family - Branson does have a four years old son, according to one of Cullen's dialogue branches and his DLC codex entry.

 

And funny you should ask about Mia being married, Gala literally just asked Brianne the same question earlier today and got this:

I'm really happy they put the marriage in there. Honestly I can't see Cullen getting married on the spot like that let alone at the Winter Palace (I really feel like that'd be the last place on earth he'd get married- that maybe it'd be more appropriate if they got married after the events of Trespasser.) But I completely understand why they needed to do it that way, though I wish the companions were there at least. I could see him proposing to her there with a slide at the end saying they tied the knot with all there friends in attendance. I guess that's my headcanon but I can dismiss that because we got to freaking SEE the ceremony. Who would've thunk.

Heh, I was thrilled because that's almost exactly how I'd headcanoned the proposal and marriage going down (except a few years earlier and back at Skyhold). Seeing it actually play out on screen in front of me... I was practically doing cartwheels of joy around my living room

 

On another note, I am LOVING the new armor schematic from the DLC. It looks absolutely fantastic on Cassandra in my new playthrough.

I'd like to think the wedding scene played out on the other side of the gazebo, the side facing the wall, so no one saw what was happening and no one actually knows they tied the knot until Quizzie goes around whispering the news to their friends, and that's why the courtyard was empty. In the conversation just before the scene plays out they agree that getting married in the middle of the council would be awkward and Cullen says they know people who can keep a secret, so I think the wedding wasn't supposed to be a grand public ceremony, but just the two quickly eloping behind the gazebo on impulse.

 

Well, at least I prefer to think like that because I always imagined my IQ and Cullen randomly eloping one day and getting married in a tiny Chantry in a small village, maybe when they were visiting the noodle siblings or something, then coming back to Skyhold and going, so yeah we're married now, surprise. But a quiet, discreet corner of the Winter Palace works too.

 

Of course, once Josephine got wind that the Inquisitor and her Commander are married and she didn't even get to plan a huge event for it, she would totally force the two to put on a huge party and get fake-married again in front of all royalty and nobility, etc.

No, no, don't get me wrong I was thrilled too. The only thing that bugged me about it was the WP setting, but it's trivial compared to the content we got so in the end I don't care so much. Tbh I'm floatin' on clouds right now lol.

 

Oops forgot to add. You mean Calpernia's armor? I hadn't thought much about it before when it was on Cal but woah boy it is gorgeous, especially the unique coloring on the actual armor piece you get. I don't think you can acquire mats for those particular colors unless they were found in the other dlc's.

Cullen doesn't actually mention whose kid this nephew of his is in dialogue, it's only clear that it's Branson's noodlet in his codex. These are all the references to the kid:

 

 

 

 

If I hadn't found the codex before watching the cutscene, I'd totally have gone on instinct and thought the kid was Mia's too. Never imagined Branson would be the married with kids one, being younger than Cullen... but then, he's probably had a much calmer life than big bro so far, more time to find love and make babies earlier in life when your life is not one trainwreck after the other.

Damn should've waited 2 seconds before replying to the other marriage post. I thought it was funny they weren't IN the gazebo, buuuuut I think there were other more picturesque scenery around the WP but it doesn't matter. Skyhold itself might've been a nice place...not sure where though. The actual Skyhold court or whatever you wanna call it would probably be too formal. But I agree I can't see them wanting to make a spectacle of it. Now that I think about it, couldn't D Cass have married them?

 

And agreed on Josie. That would definitely happen. And with my IQ they'd probably get fed up or embarrassed at the attention and end up sneaking off somewhere. Not unlike the end of The Adventures of Robin Hood if anyone's seen it rofl.

Because she brings up that she's heard whispers about a forthcoming marriage...from Varric of course...and she assumed that meant the IQ was going to propose to Cullen. And then you can act all flustered and surprised. SO CUTE. So I took that to mean that Cullen's been talking to folks about how to propose. You know how Varric is a ladies' man and all. And he told Cass...and she spilled the beans being all awkward and adorkable Cass...

There's been ending slides posted up. A non-romanced Cullen not on lyrium opens up a retreat for retired and recovering Templars. A non-romanced Cullen on lyrium disappears shortly after the DLC and ends up begging for lyrium on the streets. A romanced Cullen (either way) stays with the IQ no matter what.

Yeah..... BW didn't really dish out details when it came to Inquisition's templars like they did with mages. Both parties get reformed and I doubt Templar Order will go back to what it once was. They'll still be needed but not as the Templar Order people knew before the war.

 

I can imagine select members of Inquisiton Templars being like secret service to the Inquisitor, disbanded or no. Because the Inquisitor still has enemies (not including Solas) even if he/she gives up their title. And Templars are one of the best military orders in Thedas as Cullen said so himself.

 

They can also serve as guards for the Divine and nobles. Not all Templars are duty-minded as Cullen is and I bet those Templars will go the more mercenary route. I mean they can do whatever as long as they keep the lyrium withdrawal controlled.

Mel answered about the slides, but as for the bolded: technically, yes, it's possible for a former Templar to rejoin the Order - Samson can do that in DA2 if your Hawke asks Cullen to give him a second chance after the Best Served Cold quest. The issue is more that Cullen doesn't really want to rejoin - you can actually ask him near the ending of the base game whether he thinks he'll rejoin to the Order once the Inquisition is over, and he says that while he still respects the purpose of the Templars, he doesn't really want to back. So he could, but likely wouldn't.

I didn't! I was speedrunning to get to the ending already, so I really wasn't very thorought. But I'll definitely make sure to talk to her both before and after it when I re-play this on my ~final~ playthrough, thanks for the heads up!

I finished Trespasser last night.and while I really like what they did with Cullen I wonder where it leaves him in future games. I find it hard to believe the inquisitor/inquisition isn't going to be involved in future events in some capacity and I can't see Cullen leaving either a romanced or un-romanced inquisitor to do it alone so maybe there is some hope we'll see him again in future.

You have my sympathy. For what it's worth it, I'm really shocked Josie didn't get the wedding treatment too. She and Cullen were the sweetest, most shamelessly romantic romances in the game, the two that most "fit" the cliché of improptu eloping right here in the courtyard. Josie would have been absolutely delighted to get a cute proposal from the Inquisitor like Cullen's, it really doesn't make sense that you don't even get to talk about the possibility of maybe, one day, who knows, getting married. :\

(presumably Cullen isn't there when he gets the bad ending, but I can't tell you for sure)

Yeah I watched until the end and I honestly don’t know what to make of it. On the one hand the final cutscene makes it sound like most of the inner circle of the inquisition is still going to be active in attempting to stop Solas but at the same time they make everything sound so…final. Even if the inquisition is still around we won’t be seeing them again which seems a waste. Then again I imagine nothing is set in stone with regards to DA4, it still hasn’t been greenlit so certain things could change. Cullens un-romanced slide where the inquisition disbands however makes a reappearance by him seem possible. It says something along the lines of ‘should the inquisition ever need him he’s ready to fight again’.

 

I'm personally hoping that they find a way to do multiple protagonists in the next game. Mike Laidlaw said it was something he loved about GTAV and would love to see in one of their games. The way I see it is if they were able to pull it off we play as a new character for most missions with new companions and such but have the option of playing as our inquisitor in certain key missions dealing with a certain elf and having certain old companions come back, so ones who can't be dead or be out of the picture because they're busy doing other things like Dorian and Varric. That’s the dream anyway, whether reality will allow that is another thing.

The bolded: omg seriously????? I'd seen the slide but not the text, but that's... that's perfect. That's exactly the kind of reactivity I wanted to see from Cullen regarding the Templars once he left, the kind of empathy and compassion for the people whose shoes he's been on that I expected out of his character in the main game.

 

Maker, finally I can see the full picture of Cullen that I wanted to see in this game. It comes late, but I knew it had to still be there in him somewhere. I can accept that he was just too focused on the Inquisition and his own recovery to see the larger picture during the main campaign, but once things settled down he realized he had to do more for his own than just wash his hands off them. Good, good. So good.

Yes.  The only time I "finished" the game was rushing through that other trainwreck romance to get to the end, and I just couldn't do it after that one scene.  Made a male Lavellan, only to be disgusted by his glued-arm boy body.  So yeah, I haven't played since January.

 

I should have listened to my gut when Inquisition came out.  I had been preparing by playing through a Surana-Alistair worldstate since I knew Cullen was going to be in the new game, but then at the last minute I went for the all elves all the time thing.  Ugh.  Oh well, at least I get to experience the full splendor of Cullen from the start now without all the angst.
