Apparently he just hooks Maryden up with that first bard who hits on her in the Krem scene, and later disappears back into the Fade in the epilogue slides, as he does when Krem lives. (just repeating what I've read here in the thread though, I haven't seen this outcome yet)
 
And yeah, I'm pretty invested in Cole, he's my precious son like Krem is Bull's so his fate being unsatisfying no matter what I do bothers me. But, you know, it doesn't really take away from everything else I loved about the DLC, which was... everything else, really. Divine Cassandra was everything I expected, Warden Rainier via friendship path was great, the Adoribull was great, Sera was great... I've been fortunate enough in all my other favorites getting such good endings that I can shrug at Cole's, given how great everything else was.

Are there special conditions for adoribull to occur? I know there's banter for it which I never got and I think IB was bugged for me because I couldn't get anything out of him after the chargers mission and the drunk scene (I forget which came first.)

As far as I know you have to not be romancing either of them, obviously, and you have to hear the banter between them for it to activate. I spent the best part of 15 minutes in the hissing wastes with the cheat engine loaded with the forced banter option spamming the button until the dialogue came up.

I’ve been watching Trespasser related vid’s for the past day and I have to say I’m fairly confident Cullen could appear again in the next game. As people who have played it will know the final scene has Cassandra, Leliana, Scout harding and Cullen present alongside the inquisitor but no one else. I’m thinking this may be a subtle way of saying these characters will reappear in future. It makes no sense otherwise. While members of the inner circle may have other responsibilities now they all know what the egg is up to so they should in theory be present at this meeting. I can't see any of them just ignoring it. Ugh the wait until DA4 is going to be torture

I've been thinking about this a lot and one thing that stood out to me was Dorian's sending crystal. Not only was it in a cutscene it was in his slide too. I can only think of two reasons for this. Because if DA4 takes place in tevinter I think its a guarantee that Dorian will be in it. And with this crystal business there's no way BW can copout of having no mention of the IQ in the future because there's a sure way to contact him/her. So either its an excuse to not have the IQ make a physical appearance I.e. in comunicado with Dorian or IQ will definitely be there in some form. I don't think there's any way in hell they'll be a PC cuz of said arm unless they introduced some kind of amputee tech. Ugh DA4 can't come soon enough.

Well apparently Patrick Weekes said at PAX or something that they were working on creating animations where the character was missing an arm. He said it was to do with The Iron Bull. Apparently he was supposed to lose an arm or was originally designed without one or something, but that could just have been a cover as Trespasser wasn’t out yet.

Probably a cover then? I can't see them working on that for DA4 if it hasn't been greenlit yet. Unless they were testing to see how it would work? The reason I mentioned amputee tech is because like say for my IQ, how do you have a 2 handed reaver with one arm. Which is why I doubt if the IQ makes a future appearance it will not be as a controllable character. Tbh I initially thought the missing arm was a glitch until I noticed the pinned sleeve lol because in the solas cutscene your hand is still left attached. So I wondered after if it shriveled up on its own or if they lopped it off once they got back to the palace.

I played my solavellan first, and found out accidentally that cullen will propose to a romance. So naturally I went on my cullen mancer. Ok the whole marriage thing was cute but at the same time made me a bit sick with the cheese. the tone of voice they say things to each other when theyre getting married as just URGHHHH. but at the same time I'm glad they got married, it would make sense for cullen to propose. I mean he was with the woman a long long time.

I actually liked the don't-marry option more than the marriage. The marriage ceremony was cute, but it was a little bit too sweet for my taste. I liked the way he proposed though, how it was a "Marry me" that just slunk out. But the thing that made me happiest about Cullen in the DLC was the fact that he got a dog.

The inquisitor says that if she loves somebody, she'll stay with them, and Cullen agrees, then they hug. I was afraid to pick that option because I didn't want to hurt Cullen's feelings, but it's not a 'No, I won't marry you', it's still sweet.

Cullen was everything. Between the mabari, and the proposal, and all the cutscenes when he openly shows affection and intimacy with the Inquisitor in front of everyone else, and his romanced ending, and what he does in his non-romanced ending, I couldn't have asked for better closure to my game. I'm gonna be beaming about it for weeks.

It would be rather awesome for Bioware to continue to be groundbreaking and have a hero with a physical disability. They could do it - and it would be great. C'mon, we all know Dagna can make anything work, lol.

It was really awkward, in my opinion. She gets all fidgety and looks down. And then you can kinda see the disappointment flash across his face for a split second. I don't personally believe marriage is needed in order for a couple to show commitment, so I obviously gravitated towards this response. It was awkwardly done and didn't really fit at all...at least to me. When someone doesn't believe in marriage, that sort of thing comes up when that person is in a serious relationship. My b/f would know better to not even ask. The fact that Cullen asks just goes to show that if the IQ doesn't believe in marriage, he obviously doesn't know her as well as he should. And those are the times where that sort of thing can spell the end of a relationship...even if the person saying no is like "but I still love you." There's always that seed of doubt. I dunno, that's just the way I look at it. And I also felt jipped that you only get a hug when you say no. They could have added a different sort of scene, like going for a romantic walk or something like what the IQ does with the other folks. I had no problems with having my IQ say yes. Would it have been awesome if they could have had various versions of the ceremony...religious and non-religious like a handfasting? Absolutely...but we can't have everything. I'm totally happy with what we ended up with.

But I assumed they did that so people could have more wiggle room to headcanon their own ideas about the IQ etc. *shrugs*

(I also haven't found confirmation that this is dependant on the Inquisition disbanding or whether you always get this ending if he stays on lyrium and unromanced, so if anyone can answer that, please confirm/deny?)

Mostly the criticism of the Inquisitor as a hero that I see is people still hung up on the nostalgia of a set and playable origin story. Which was great, sure, but it was also the unique element that gave Origins its name, so I don't know that they'll be repeating it any time soon.

 

I personally rather like the Inquisitor being almost tabula rasa but for a few vague background strokes. It means I can play four different Trevelyans that are exactly nothing like each other, all with their own stories and families and backgrounds, and the game allows room for that. They have the same family name, but they're never the same person. There's a freedom for roleplaying whatever you want in your hero being whoever you want them to be that I really appreciate.

Speaking only for myself of course (because I know this topic can spawn many disputes), I agree with you that my Inquisitor(s) story is over. This DLC honestly gave me the closure I was looking/hoping for. Did I like all the outcomes? No, but that's not the point...the point for me is that I got some finality to a good story. On the flip side I still feel extremely shortchanged on my Warden(s) story. If they would just come out with one Trespasser-like DLC for that storyline (that also addresses whatever the heck is going on at Weisshaupt) I would be very happy. (I'm going to be "that woman" and state that yes if I had the option I'd want that character playable again, or at least showing up in the story like they did for Hawke, to give the Warden(s) more closure than "Option A" Well, I sacrificed myself at the last battle or "Option B" Oh! I've finally started my playthrough, but haven't finished yet. And, I'll admit shamefacedly, it's a Solavellan playthrough. Of course, despite everyone's caution, I've already seen some spoilers about that here, so I won't be back til I've done it and my Cullen playthrough. 

 

But, so far thumbs WAY UP for Trespasser DLC. BW has really delivered. Now we'll see how my ending goes. Sharpening the knives now...

On the flip side I still feel extremely shortchanged on my Warden(s) story. If they would just come out with one Trespasser-like DLC for that storyline (that also addresses whatever the heck is going on at Weisshaupt) I would be very happy.

 

I'll be honest, I have zero nostalgia for the figure of the Warden. I don't know if it's the previous experience playing a series where the hero changes with every new game and your old one fades into the background of irrelevance that I had with the Elder Scrolls franchise, or if it's luck of the draw that my first playthrough of Origins ended with the Ultimate Sacrifice so I learned the hard way to say goodbye to my hero and detach myself from future expectations, but I just... don't feel like the Warden is relevant anymore. Even with my Wardens that are actually still alive, I still feel that their stories are over and done too, and have no expectations for them. I would honestly find playing as the Warden again so jarring, at this point - they just... don't matter to the story of the world at large anymore.

 

But I don't know, I feel like that for all my heroes. I love them, but narratively, they're done. My dead Wardens are gone, my alive Wardens are off doing their stuff, it's all good. All I needed to know about my Hawke after Adamant was that she would be okay, and Varric answered that - whatever happened in Weisshaupt, Hawke is now back home with Sebastian, and that's good enough for me. My Inquisitor is now living with Cullen off to the countryside, running their Templar repose homes and playing Jenny with Sera, and that's also good enough for me. Maybe I let go too easily, I don't know, but once I feel a protagonist has hit the narrative point where they are now no longer the center of the story, I'm fine with saluting them off the screen, shipping them off them to the land of post-story headcanons (and boy, do I have those by the mile), and moving on to the next. We're years away from any hint of a DA4 and I'm already playing with aesthetics and inspiration for my Tevinter hero, whoever she may come to be.

Did you at least get some nice scenes with Bull (sans marriage)? I was a bit sad about Dorian going distance with his LI. And I agree, the dlc was very Solas centred (I guess to set him up as future antagonist, but the lore in the crossroads, wow, just wow. Loved the place.

Yes, that was actually going to be my closing point but I... forgot to add it, oops. 

 

All that said, while I'm personally not too attached to my heroes, it is of course totally valid for people to feel attached to theirs and want more. I may be fine with letting go of my characters, but I do understand where people are coming from when they feel there's still some story that could be milked out of those characters. The issue is more that BioWare at some point has to make a choice of what to spend their zots in, and with this series they've made the choice to keep moving forward instead of looking back, so we have to at some point adapt to that or we'll always be feeling nostalgic for things we were never going to get.

 

But yes, differences! Variety of opinions is what keeps us going, or we'd never have anything to talk about.
