Just want to say that I'm still alive...and I am very happy that I was wrong about they probably not gonna put marriage into Cullen Romance. Although I do hope mabari can be as cute as them were in origin. Inquisition Mabari kinda looks like giant rats...

Also, haven't play decent DLC, could someone give me some level and class/specialisation advise? ^ ^

For Descent DLC, I would definitely bring a good tank or two good tanks because the enemies in that DLC are damage sponges. Also there's a point in the DLC where you are trapped in a darkspawn horde wave mode. There's at least three potion caches so if you need to use the potion, do.

Another advice would be put the game on casual mode when you are playing Descent because the enemies can be not fun after a while like stated above. Dispel is your friend against emissaries.

Glad to hear you are alive :) Hello Hello Hello Hello

To add to rpgfan321's comment, I would take good damage dealers. And I wouldn't bring more than one mage. Physical attacks are what you want in Deep Roads.

I can't speak on class/spec/level, because I seem to be one of the people that didn't mind/have problems with Descent fights at all.

Thankfully my one mage was Dorian who I spent the majority of the fight with and was the last one standing at the end.

Hello, I'm new to the forum but I've been a massive, massive Cullen fan over the years and have lurked here for some time. I just stayed up all night to play the Trespasser DLC and now can barely see my screen but omg having watched all the alternative endings now I needed to go blah to people who hopefully understand. I've never seen such depth to a character as they gave Cullen in Inquisition. It's so brilliantly well done by BioWare.

Spoiler

That's all a burble but I had to get it out somewhere, along with a massive, massive thanks to BioWare for such a beautifully written romance - from the start in Haven right through to the finish. They will have a huge job on their hands to do anything that comes close in the future because this was just perfect  :)

Had to get that off my chest - feel better now, albeit a tad bereft. I appreciate having the space to blow off some emotional steam. Off to get some much-needed sleep.

Eh, my party for Descent was my Champion Inquistor, Sera, Dorian, and Viv and I didn't have any issue on normal until the last fight and even then it wasn't an issue once I realized the best plan was just to have Dorian nuke it all down with fire. It just sort of comes down to how you like to do things.

I mentioned only one mage, since some opponents have strong elemental resistance (I'm looking at you Earthshakers). But you may be right *shrugs* Maybe on lower difficulties it's not that important.

To tell the truth I played my Descent nightmare pt with two mages. It wasn't bad, but in the middle of it I realised swapping Dorian for one more warrior or rogue would make it quicker.

Ah that makes sense. I prefer being heavily ranged on my Champion because she's pretty much invulnerable and with everyone else at range the hold the line skill works really well for helping me keep all the mobs groups and we can just grind them down. It's likely not the quickest way of doing things, but it worked well for me. Though I do sort of wish I had been able to do it on that PT before the endgame because swapping Viv in for Solas did sort of mess up the all ranged thing a bit.

I couldn't even beat the final boss on casual with a level 23 Templar...thank goodness for CheatEngine because I was ready to just throw the controller against the wall and walk away.

LOL in MMOs we call it "rage quit " :P Reading this I have to share my own experience or lack of it XD

Until I have got DAO ( my first single player game) back in february this year, I have played only MMOs starting from Star trek Online, SWTOR, Guild Wars 2, FF14 , Rift etc. I always said that i hate single player because I liked to be connected with people online, even if that meant spamming the chat or reading it. The after I got bored with ESO, my boyfriend told me I should give a try to a single player only if that meant to make him a concession lol. So I' ve got DAO only because I saw a video from DAI with Flemeth and I realized it was voice acted by on of my favorite Captains ( Janeway from ST Voyager ). I got addicted after the first scene in my mage origins.

In MMOs i always played DPS and I always had someone to heal me or a companion to have my back , everything went smooth until I got to Tower of Ishal , the first boss fight , the awful ogre in the top. It was me ( mage ) Ali and other two random soldiers . I have spent hours trying to defeat that thing , never had to control 4 toons in the same time and micro manage everything ... rage quit for two days then went back ; it didn't crossed my mind to put it on casual, I had to do it in normal or not at all. Finally the ogre was dead and happy happy to Redcliffe we go ! Since I went there first I had no healer yet, and when the final battle in Redcliffe Plaza once again rage quit i did. Funny thing was that every video I looked at told me how to stay and fight but i couldn't do it, so I applied my own tactics :P ... hit and run. I had to sacrifice some of the locals but i survived :P . basically I had my team waiting at the mill with the knights and I kitted the mobs up group after group Xd they did a short life of them. So i rage quit often but then I brood over the tactics when at work :P

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum too and longtime Cullen lover :P

I am pretty happy with how Trespasser ended Cullen's story. Hopefully we at least get a small cameo in DA4.

Welcome!

Welcome mrslyncx :D

Thank you all  :) I've been meaning to post for ages but never got round to it. This has been a goldmine of information on Cullen since DA:O and really helped shape my headcanon.

Now that Inquisition is done, the good thing for my husband is that he can at least have the PS4 back now and carry on with Witcher 3 - he hasn't had a look in for the last two weeks or so. Although he has long since accepted that he's married to a hardcore Cullen (and Alistair) fangirl.

Hello  :D  I agree, a cameo would be awesome - but more than Alistair got as king I hope. I can't wait to see what they do with it.

And there's a long wait ahead  :(

I hope so, too :) Maybe he is now of same popularity status as Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana to get a model or something, not just a codex entry ^^;;

But I did love how much screen time he got in Inquisition though.

I played LoTRO from 2007 - 2014...even ran a guild with my b/f. I now play TOR regularly, but only for the story content. I play MMO's 99.999% solo. I'm all about self-reliance, lol. It's great to build up a character who can own mass quantities on their own...and then roll up as an unknown player to a raid and be like BAM!

I play these games more for the story than combat. Typically I always play on casual.

Speaking of MMOs, SWTOR has their expansion coming out soon in a month that I'm excited for. My Sith Inquisitor is ready to kick moar butt :P

Mmmm, in that case I will use my DW assassin quizze. I started with KE all the time but ends up love assassin, so efficient, especially after KE was no longer godlike in DLC.

And have Dorian nuke everything pretty much sums up my tactics...my quizzie just kill whomever go near him. ^ ^

I recognise a few names too from AO3 (my username is Madelief there) who have been so supportive of what is turning out to be the Neverending Story.

I imagine that fight is a challenge for melee based characters. I've only gone through with my Necromancer who is purposefully spec'ed to be less powerful for role-play reasons. Even then, the Necromancer is at a disadvantage because her class specific powers do not have much of an affect on the boss who's immune to practically everything. Sera and Viv really saved my IB and my Inq's ass. My KE will have no problems though I'm sure. I'm wondering how my nightmare run with my archer will go. Archers have the greatest advantage, but I imagine that boss will hit pretty hard.

I'm wondering how my nightmare run with my archer will go. Archers have the greatest advantage, but I imagine that boss will hit pretty hard.

From my experience, archer + Nightmare + the last boss of Descent = get some coffee, you're gonna be in this fight for a while.

That thing does the worst damage to ranged characters, with long ranged lashes, punches and mines faster than you can outrun them. Think the Corypheus fight in Legacy - you can't outrun the rings of fire, so the safest thing to do is hide behind the pillars and wait it out. Same principle here: staying in range will get you killed in seconds, you can't outrun the attacks. So the safest approach is to stay in melee range, and outrun the short-distance attacks instead.

Your meleers at this point should have the skills that make them unable to be knocked down, so they'll shrug the rock punches off. Your mage should be specced into able to sustain constant Barrier, preferably should be wearing crafted armor that generates +Guard on hit too, for double protection. They will take a lot of punches and get knocked down a lot, that can't be helped, but staying in close range will still be more survivable than staying in distance. If you're okay with not having any mage in your party, consider switching them out for a third meleer, they'll last longer and be more useful (that thing has resistance to like every type of magic, at some point I gave up on the mage slot and just brought Blackwall, Cassandra and Bull with my archer instead, full damage sponge meat shield team).

And finally your archer should be alright as long as they stay in medium-short range, close enough so the boss doesn't trigger the long-range attacks, but not so close that the tentacles can reach to you. Archery is delicious in this game because strafing, so just strafe all over the place - keep moving in circles around the boss as you shoot the tentacles, dodging their punches and taking them down one by one until you can focus on the big boss without getting knocked down all the time.

Of course, this is all for Nightmare. On Normal/Casual I expect this to be a much less... nightmarish fight. On my next run of this DLC with other characters I'll keep it on Normal, because I don't wanna spend hours on this one fight again anymore.

Completely agree -  I don't know if I'll ever be over it!. Waited all those years for Cullen, then he arrived, it was awesome and now I am wondering what to do. A bit like Gil and the other fish in Nemo when they make it over the road and into the sea and after all that are bobbing around in a plastic bag not sure what happens next......

Hehe waves back  :D Always appreciate your comments very much! It is very kind of you to say so although sometimes I just want to knock Lea and Cullen's heads together and tell them to get on with it -aka Cassandra voice in the Winter Palace. Writing it helps keep Cullen alive in my memory though, now Trespasser is done - which sounds a bit sad but I hope you get what I mean!
