I'm trying to go to the Black Emporium, but it's freezing on the load screen. From what I can tell, my mods that change hair and complexion mean that it doesn't work. Is there a workaround for any of this?

 

It's just the complexions that conflict with the BE (hair doesn't freeze it, it just doesn't load in the mirror), and there's no fix for it, unfortunately. You'll have to remove complexions from your modded patch every time you want to enter the Emporium. If you think you're gonna be going there often, it's worth having two patch folders to switch around, one with complexions and one without.

 

(I kinda gave up on complexions, eyebrows and custom tattoos because of this, can't be bothered to leave the game, rebuild the patch, reload the game, use the BE, leave the game, rebuild the patch, reload the game etc, every single time I need something from the Emporium )

Interesting. I have complexions, eyebrows etc. installed and B.E. does not do this for me. Very strange.

You might be the only lucky one in the world, then. Complexions are know to freeze the Emporium for everyone; if they work for you, you might want to contact the daimodder crew and work out a solution for everyone with them.

There's a merchant stall selling rare schematics, one selling super rare schematics, one selling ultra expensive unique (purple) items, and one selling crafting materials. I basically use it to buy rare materials (specially dragon scales, webbing etc that you can't find more of once you've killed all the dragons), but if you don't use much crafting the BE will only really serve for the mirror.

 

(btw I have all the big expensive schematics unlocked through the Golden Nug if you wanna cheat them into your game without wasting all your gold, but my save has all the DLCs so I don't know if it would be useful to you? :3)

Well, golly! I have all the DLCs!   I'm assuming that you've got a female rogue archer? _{(But seriously I don't know what the Golden Nug is or why the schematics need to be unlocked.)}

Can anyone who uses SweetFX remind me how to turn off the FPS Counter in the top left? I remember that there was a key command, but I don't remember what that key command actually was.

Not sure if you've figured it out already but pressing "Insert" works for me

Well, I loaded my previous save, where I was using both a complexion mod and an eyebrow replacer. The complexion did change complexion 3 but it included eyebrows, so in the CC I had it set it to no eyebrows. I got to the BE just fine, but with the default complexion and no eyebrows. Then I tried the eyebrow replacer and it worked. (Of course I had double eyebrows when I got back to Skyhold but that's neither here nor there.) Point being that, even if I can't see the changes, I've got at least two mods that work with BE. But, I can't figure out how to contact the the DAIModder team so they can poke around and see what's what. Is there a submission form on their tumblr?

Please be the guinea pig and let us know if, eh, Solas suddenly has chest hair. I'm not sure if the neckline of his robes are part of the texture, but it would be quite disconcerting to see him with a hairy chest.

The arms are a bit to hairy. But probebly we could ask the Mod maker to make a hairy mod with a bit, a bit, just a bit less hair.

I can confirm that if your face texture replaces texture #1 (Shantia's does this) then it is ok. If it's like every other texture mod out there and replaces texture #3, then it will not work in the BE and will cause freeze upon load. 

 

This is because texture #1 is specific to general female (and will effect many females in-game), whereas texture #3 is specific to the Inquisitor section in the Modding Tool (and will only effect the IQ and the elven servant in Haven). I can't remember the specific names for the sections off the top of my head.

Yep, Shantia's complexion 1 works just fine with BE, but it just reverts. And nevermind then. I thought I was on to something.

When I upgraded my GPU to the 980Ti, SweetFX no longer worked so I dove head-long into ReShade and never looked back. ReShade is so much better and I highly recommend it. If you need help with setting that up just let me know!

Reshade? Never heard of it.

 

Right now I'm still using Radeon with SweetFx injection. Had to downgrade from Windows 8 to 7 in order for it to work. And installing Windows 10 is a scarey notion. My husband and I went through hell to get SweetFx to work on this PC.

 

If its easier then by all means please share.

I downloaded it and will have to check it out when I have a chance. I'm already using a custom high-rez body texture that I made (since low rez bodies stood out from my high-rez faces). I'll have to see if I can tweak this hair one to work for me. 

 

I just haven't had a lot of time with DA:I lately because I've gotten into modding Skyrim in a bad way, lol. I even went so far as to take the Mabari mod and reskin it to make my dog in-game, LOL.

I honestly don't think I have the effort necessary to work on setting up new graphics. Plus, my card (still) isn't great so I'm not sure it could handle it. Thank you though!

Seriously, it's way easier than SweetFX. Just download the framework here (you will need to scroll down and make sure you get the framework) and you can get a really nice preset for it here.
