Wow. That's a lot of swords.

Yea, I thought it was sort of ironic because on my pt with it my party was Blackwall, Sera, Dorian, and my KE Inquisitor so there were very few swords involved him killing him ;) Felt bad for that IQ though... she was also my Solasmance character; she just can't catch any breaks.

Video:

Spoiler

I think I saw somewhere posted that it's slightly different if he was romanced.

Ouch... The romanced version of it must be heart breaking. It actually reminded me of that Nerd Appropriate interview with P Weekes (at around 28:00), when he talks about the IB's romance with Inquisitor who chose the Qun for him. He says that the worst thing you can do when you romance him is to kill the Chargers. I would say he pretty much foreshadowed bad ending for Qun/Bullmance. That's why I never went that route  :crying:

Also, I hate that it has huge consequences for all Tal Vashoth. What if the Quizzy is a T-V?

Is anyone thoroughly pleased with the Game of the Year edition trailer as I am? Simply because it not only stars the lady Inquisitor being a BAMF once again, but it also brielfy shows off her gettin' some w/ the Commander. What a time to be alive lol

Wow, no words, that's really horrible. They definitely wanted to show that romancing him and choosing that option is a bad combo. Still, this rubs me the wrong way, since they could make those slides more personal instead of going for social impact.

Yea, I love this trailer and the Trespasser one for this. Sort of annoys me though because a lot of people gave them grief over only having the male inquisitor in the original launch trailer, but no one has said a peep about them doing this which is lame :/

Granted I can't see how bad it truly is but... I'm sort of torn about the writers being sort of cruel about it. On the one hand I definitely agree they shouldn't because cruelty is always bad, but on the other I sort of understand the impulse. I mean you know they develop attachments to these characters just like we do, and the put all these options in so we can have some agency but it would be silly to think they don't also have feelings about what the right choice is in the context of the setting. So I get the impulse on their part.

Well, I'm happy this is happening but honestly, you don't get kudos for not being sexist. The ideal is for trailers like this to get released and for no one to say a word about it because it's perfectly normal at this point.

I perfectly understand that, feeling protective over your characters and such. P Weekes was always pretty clear that allying with the Qun was not the best move when it comes to IB as a character. Whether it was a good move when it comes to inquisition is another matter. They put it there, so it makes sense that people will roleplay it. I can perfectly understand that Qunari Bull is a different person to T-V Bull and I'm okay with betrayal. I still feel that the romance slides sting too much (especially the second one).

I think sometimes the Dragon Age writers in particular get a bit excited about producing "fan tears" ... almost like it's a badge of honor? I've seen so many tweets about devs crying while making content, or cackling while imagining players encountering content.

Seems like there's a difference between "sad things happening" (like, say, Mordin dying in ME3, even when you made all the "right" choices) and truly cruel endings that really hurt the player (like here). I dunno. I'm so disenchanted with the whole DAI love interest situation anyway.

I just hope they stop being such jerks and at least let my first two characters remain with their loves, even if they don't get happy endings.

I'm okay with producing fan tears, if it is a genuinely moving content. I love to shed tears myself, and do so quite happily. I just don't find this particular example a fan tear material, it leaves me more surprised that this is the way they went about it. The whole franchise allows us to make pretty shady choices but I never felt as judged as a player as in this instance. And I never even made that choice. Ironically, I really love romances in DAI, they are probably my favourite in the series.

Sorry for derailing the thread. Couldn't control my reaction, hence dragging it here for a bit.

Nice, too bad it shows stuff that's not actually in the game though... (IQ riding Flames Charger during night cut scene)

May I just say that I love this moment in Trespasser. I replayed it several times to get the feel of all of the conversation options. I really wanted to hug my girl and it's so perfect that Cullen was there to do just that.

Also, it would be great if we did not default to red formal outfit in the final scene...

I meant more giving them kudos for actually listening and adjusting. There are many developers who don't so it's nice to see they did.

Yea, I think I'll have to wait until I get home to see the pictures (youtube, imgur, tumblr, etc are all blocked :( ) I think that'll be the real determination about how I feel about it.

As for writers enjoying creating tears too much... honestly one of the greatest things as a writer is to know something you wrote touched a person deeply and made them feel something real. Personally I think the holy grail is making a person really question their views on something and have to reevaluate their positions, but that's neither here nor there. I think the reason we see so much about tears is making people sad/angry is the easiest way to get a reaction which says they were moved. It's much less often, and usually much less effusive as well, when people express how happy something made them. So it's easy to get wrapped up in the tears.

What's weird is I had an optional formal outfit selected via the wardrobe, but with Trespasser I ended up with the Nutcracker Suite the entire time. :(

Stupid question, but I have to ask. Did you change it after starting Trespasser?

You start with default red suit, but then you can change it with wardrobe that's there.

OH NO! I didn't noticed there was a wardrobe there. I thought it would save my setting from Skyhold.

This isn't the first time they've done it, and they've gotten quite a few props for it. Posts about the f!Inquisitor in the Trespasser trailer have topped thousands of notes on Tumblr. This particular trailer... I've never seen, so it may just not have reached saturation yet.

BW has done quite a bit of course correction since that time, for example, Cameron Lee did a whole video about character customization for Game Informer that only showed and mentioned the male IQ. LOL And the fans have been watching. Trespasser also wasn't the first to show the f!IQ, but one of the few to show *only* the f!IQ. Baby steps. :D

Agreed but in this case I don't think players were deeply touched... I think they were shocked, didn't see the build-up that led to this moment, and then possibly hurt by the devs making fun of them.

Re: Iron Bull

I think the betrayal makes perfect sense. The problem I'm having is I read this thing on Tumblr about how Iron Bull is a lying liar who lies and now, even though I'd never sacrifice the chargers and he will never actually betray me, I view his character totally differently now. My heart melts when Vidasalla asks him to fight me and he goes "Not a chance." and I was like <3 Bull. But after reading this thing on Tumblr where they point out basically every single thing he says is a lie, I can't even. Tumblr ruined him for me because they explained his betrayal so well. I wish I remembered where I saw it, it was linked in the Solas thread awhile back.

Yea we all voted to not do spoilers at this point :)

And I think I actually know what post you are referring to (Mike Laidlaw tweeted a link to it). If it is, it's a great post that explains a lot about Bull when you first meet-up with him and a specifically Qun aligned Bull. I personally believe the whole Tal-Vashoth thing changes him a lot. His interactions with a few companions (especially Solas) really shows that well. But I think people have a tendency to overlook the changes.

Basically Qun Bull is as different from Tal-Vashoth Bull as Lyrium Cullen is to Lyrium free Cullen.

Ick... high school SAT flashback ><
