What's Cullen's lyrium slide? Is it bad? :-s
Depends on which Lyrium side you speak of.
If your talkin about telling Cullen to stay on lyrium and did not romance him. Yes, yes it is bad.

[edit: you know what, nevermind, I don't have the energy for this anymore. carry on.]
:hugs:
I always toggled the UI off via cinematic tools when I knew something was going to pop up when I was recording.
I hope they build in some way to do this on the PS4 (or whatever console) for the next one. Not just for the cutscenes but there were so many spots where I wanted to take a picture and I just had to live with the map being there because there was no way to make it go away ![]()
What's Cullen's lyrium slide? Is it bad? :-s
Imo it's bad in that it's incredibly depressing, but not bad in that it could be taken as the writers rubbing salt in your wounds or anything.
Question though, I know Cass grants Cullen land in which he builds a place for retired Templars to help deal with the lyrium thing, if Leilana is Divine does she also grant him land in Fereldan for this? MY Dorianmance characters have her as Divine but I am putting off doing Trespasser because then everything will be over ><
Yeah Cullen's lyrium slide broke my heart.
He turns into a begger and Harding either mercy killed him or gave him a few coins. I can't pick that choice nope.
O.O I didn't realize Harding would potentially mercy kill him? How is that decided?

I'm pretty sure it's same for Leliana as Divine. I don't know about Vivienne as Divine though since she stands for reforming both Circle and Templar Order. And I don't know if Ferelden is the de facto hub for lyrium rehab (I could be wrong). That's left open for headcannons, but I think Ferelden would be a good place for lyrium rehab since there's some prime real estate without all the Orlesian court nonsense going on in Ferelden.
I guess the spot has to be where the Veil is not so weak because of possible demons and magic stuff. Templars can also feel weak Veils, right? Beside mages?

The epilogue said mercy kill or gave a few coin to the now beggar Cullen. I think that's left up to the player though. However, that epilogue slide clearly states Cullen lost all memory of himself and there is no Cullen now, just a lyrium starved beggar. (So sad
my heart broke when I saw those slides)
Cullen's lyrium ending was heartbreaking and I've banged on about it elsewhere. But it was the most unrealistic ending of all of them. I cannot believe a fortress of people wouldn't do something, Mia's sending endless letters and Josephine is begging him to reply. Seriously, everyone just sat back and did nothing? My Josie would have had Mia at Skyhold months before it escalated to such a level.
The whole of Cullen's background is very very personal to me so I get a bit too jumping up and down about it all sometimes. It still didn't make sense though that no one would stage an intervention or they wouldn't get him off the streets and give him a peaceful ending in a home or wherever lyrium-riddled Templars go at that stage?
Apologies if this has already been mentioned earlier in the thread. This one is so fast moving ![]()
Does anyone else dislike the slides? It reminded me of DAO, which I thought was so cheesy. It's like the devs got lazy and didn't want to / couldn't "film" the rest so they just summed it up at the end. (I know that is not the case and that the devs are not lazy
) But I just don't like the slides. And I swear to god this has nothing to do with them calling my Lavellan "she."

The only real problem I had with the end slides was that they went by too fast for me to read. I had to screen shot them so I could read them completely. I've talked to others that also had this problem. I didn't think it was cheesy, but a nice way to wrap up the story while still leave some questions unanswered.

In general I really like the slides, the artwork in them is always very interesting. I was disappointed the ones at the end of Trespasser weren't narrated and they went way to fast so reading the words and taking in the artwork was a pita ![]()
I guess I just prefer an ending with emotional impact... For me, best ending to a BW game is DA2, Hawke glaring down the templars before turning and walking away with his/her bros and lady bros like a total BAMF.
EDIT: Oh and I watch anime so I had no trouble with the subtitles, but they were pretty fast, true.
DA2 was different in that Varric was telling a story of events that had already happened. We didn't get any real conclusion on the companions until DAI. And even that was a bit iffy, IMO. I thought the slides had plenty of emotional impact. But then, I usually put a lot of emotion into the things I read. ![]()

No it's phrased as Harding either gave him a few coins or a gentle knife (mercy kill). I don't think you have to do anything other than have him stay on lyrium.

Even if Mia showed up, the damaged is done. There is no coming back from lyrium madness. Cullen would have found a way to leave. And considering how large Thedas is it would not be easy to track Cullen down considering he was not what he was.
What I found saddest of it all: was Cullen became what Samson became. If Cory did not step in Samson would have ended up like Cullen did on the streets of Kirkwall.

A reminder of what Samson could have been, very true. I agree, the damage would have been done. It's not about the addiction or the eventual result which is dreadful of course, but more people standing around doing nothing. If that was my brother I would have walked to Skyhold barefoot to see what was going on if I had to, and given Cullen some dignity at least. Urgh, it's all too personal so I will stop there.
That is an ending my head emphatically rejects. Everyone is alive and well, Bull's meeting me for a beer later in the tavern and there's a dog running around a field or a fortress with a certain Commander trying and failing to teach it fetch. It's all I need to know.
And yes, the slides were a bit of a letdown. Narration would have been good and I personally am not a huge fan of sketches (were they cartoon-like?). I couldn't recognise the characters.

Um... me, too, I mean, I do read ![]()
But like even in a novel, imagine getting to the final chapter and instead of a well thought out scene with dialogue and stuff you just had the author sum up what happened to each character.
Kind of like the end of an 80s high school movie
"Jane went on to become CEO of a clothing company."
"John dropped out of college and worked at a pizza place for the rest of his life."

Well, technically Trespasser was the ending, the slides I suppose were just a little something extra they threw in. I quite liked them though, but yeah they were a bit fast.

Given your profession, I certainly hope you read! ![]()
I understand what you're driving at, but they didn't seem that way to me at all. But I do agree that having them narrated would have been better. At least they wouldn't have flown by. When I would do something like this, I'd always read through them twice to make sure they were staying up long enough for people to read.

Varric narrating them would've been really great! Just like in the Keep.
Yeah I managed to read all the slides but it was a bit too fast =/ I couldn't enjoy the pictures.
Took a break from work tonight to get the next chapter finished finally...

if Cullen was in a fight with Cullen who would win?
That's actually Alistair.
OH gosh, you're right!
