Despite the fast skip speed, I liked the presentation and the execution of the epilogue slides. Not only was it reminiscent of Origins but the aged paper and sketched look made it feel like I was reading it from a history tome or something. Also the music was pretty great. Wished it didn't went by so fast, then I could enjoy the art, ending, and the music at my own sweet pace.
Oh the giggles.
lulz the giggles XD

Oh and another random question regarding the mabari: what would be the real-life equivalent of a mabari? I was thinking pitbulls as a real-life equivalent. I just can't shake the mabari out of my head XD it's so cute :3 Great, Dragon Age is making me want to adopt a dog for real. I never thought myself as a pet person, haha.

In terms of build, pitbulls are way too small and light. Mastiff seems closest to me in terms of build...

So, I finally finished my Cullen romance. Cute. Happy. The two-second comfort scene was adorable, and nice to see that personal touch while I'm, you know, dying. I'm also glad that he was finally at my final secret war table at the very end! It was so weird that he wasn't there on my Solavellan PT, whether or not he was still Commander of my forces. I wonder why they bothered taking him out if you're not romancing him.
My Solas ending was also satisfying, so that was nice. It even had some responses I had wanted but didn't get when I was romancing him. I'm also chuckling that my Trev actually succeeded in finding all the codexes that let her figure out he was FH, whereas my lady who was sleeping with him, didn't. LOL
Overall, it was a nice ending (when the appropriate choices are made ahem).

Oooo, thanks! Sorry, I'm not well versed in dogs/cats/pets in general, but pitbull was the first breed I could think of. I know giant dogs exist in rl, but I was just curious which one is most similar to a mabari.

Josephine isn't in the scene either unless she's romanced. I suspect it was simplest to do by simply only including the permanent members who weren't romanceable for everyone and have the LI, no matter who, show up next to the IQ. Plus, well, there's the possibility that Cullen isn't around at all in some playthroughs.

The face of the mabari in Trespasser doesn't look much like a mastiff, honestly, though I think the original mabari models did. I think they probably are combining traits for several breeds in the Trespasser model to create a unique look.

Olde English Bulldogge (minus the cropped ears) hands down....
A little breed history...OEB lines were started in the mid 1980's as an attempt to "re-establish" the original Bulldog from the Victorian era. Foundation breeds are English Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, and Mastiff.

Spoiler
I thought about them, but they're fairly short-legged. The face is right (I love their faces myself,) but the mastiff's body is closer, I think. The mabari in Trespasser has to top 150-200 lbs, I think. Maybe a combination of the two?

It depends on the OEB. There is a lot of variation in the breed depending on how far out the lines are from the foundation breeds. That's actually one of the things that bugs me about the breed...the standard is all over the place. Some are short and look a lot like English Bulldogs. Others, like Herschel are much taller. Herschel's mother looked almost exactly like a Mastiff, btw. ![]()
This picture is from April (just a year old), so he's grown A LOT, but you can see he has a different shape. I'll have to try and get an up to date picture of him now...he's filled out so much and looks more and more like a Mabari shape. I'm not kidding when I said skinning him to a Mabari's body in Skyrim works...it really does look like him minus the cropped ears.
I think if you take an OEB with Herschel's type at 125lb...then add another 50lb for fantasy and crop it's ears (not a fan of cropped ears, but we're talking in-game) then you'd have a pretty accurate Mabari...at least the original Mabari from DA:O and DA:2.

That's very similar to Herschel's body type now that he's filling out...not the head obviously. His chest is a bit wider.
I can't wait to see what he looks like at full maturity. The breed can take up to 3 years to finish growing and he's only 18 months!
I'll see if I can get some pics of him tomorrow.

In case you haven't noticed, it isn't going to break my heart to look at dog pics. Someday I'll be in a stable enough place (in terms of not needing to move, etc.) in my life to have a pet again, and I would dearly love a large dog.
But I think the two breeds are so closely related (especially since you said that OEB have mastiff in them) that it's safe to say the breeds like them are the inspiration for Cullen's mabari...

For sure...whoever designed the Mabari must have a big Mastiff/Bulldog/OEB of some sort!
I never really cared for dogs, though I always had them growing up. But Herschel really got me on the path to liking dogs. He's a giant dork...and is a good boy.

Purpose-wise, I think Mabari are similar to pit bulls in that they're technically bred to fight, but also to be sweet, goofy, and loyal to their owners. Physically, as others have said, Mabari are probably closer to mastiffs or American bulldogs.
If you're thinking about adopting a dog though, pit bulls are a great way to go! They're sweet, loyal, goofy, stylish, and generally very healthy. (My mom's a veterinarian, and she says pit bulls are one of the healthier breeds.) Admittedly they can be pretty hyper and destructive toward furniture if not properly trained or socialized, but if you adopt a pit bull from a shelter, not only are you saving a life (as pit bulls get put to sleep more often due to breed discrimination
), but they're almost guaranteed to have a good personality, as no shelter would put a dog up for adoption unless they're 100% sure they're safe and friendly, and if there are any behavioral problems or considerations (shy, skittish, mouthy, allergies), they let you know.
I got my baby from a shelter, and since we specifically asked around for one who's older, calmer, and mostly house-trained (we wanted a cuddle-bug who could enjoy vegging on the couch as well as playing and going for walks), she was already mostly trained and house-broken. I just had to teach her to use the doggy door and chew on a kong instead of the furniture when she felt mouthy, and she was good to go!
Here's my baby, singing for her sup at a restaurant parking lot.

You'd think we didn't just give her a bunch of steak and french fry leftovers from the steakhouse. ![]()
P.S. After I first discovered DA I would ask her, "Are you a Mabari War Hound?" But since we looks like a pig (we call her "Miss Piggy"), I would say, "Nah, you're more like a nug. Bunny pig!"

Ah, I forgot about Josie. I guess that makes sense.
It's interesting to think about them plotting secretly. It made me totally rethink my feeling on disbanding the Inquisition. I was really resistant until I realized they'd keep on fighting the good fight either way, somehow. I'm still surprised they would let such a big choice be made by the player for future World States. I guess that just shows us that we'll never really see the Inquisition again.

Yeah, it looks far too big to be a bulldog, but mastiff's and rotweilers and their varieties could be a choice.
In any event, I wouldn't want him sharing my bed. That's something I'd put my foot down about. I can deal with a hole in the roof, maybe, sometimes, especially since that was the courtship phase and I was trying to land you, dear Cullen. But that's where it ends. No giant dogs in OUR bed. ![]()

Awwww. I'm a bit cautious with unknown pit bulls (or really any dog) because I live in an area where some people do encourage them to be aggressive, sigh. But I have known some delightful ones, including a sweetie who lived in the other side of a duplex from me a few years ago, named, rather appropriately, Daisy. I particularly remember the morning when she came out to say good morning to me and as soon as I opened my car door, she was in the passenger seat looking out the window excitedly. I'd have to say her personality would fit most of the mabari we've seen.

Aw, what an adorable pity!
(If not all Mabari, I can see a bit of her in Cullen's Mabari, if just the beautiful fur, eye color, and snout.)
Bolded: Same here. I started a Cullen romance but could never motivate myself to finish it until Trespasser. Between Solas... doing what Solas does best, and Cullen adopting a puppy, I decided some ex-Templar loving would be fun after all.
What's funny is, I headcanon that my Dalish elf has two very small children from before she met Cullen (who lived with the Clan during the main game but now see them more often post-game, since the Breach and Corypheus are gone), so now they're going to be thrilled that their new dadd have a doggy. Not just any doggy, but a giant war hound that they can ride around like a horse and play "conquer the castle" with. As of the end of Trespasser, I imagine they'll be quite the motley family.
Awwww. I'm a bit cautious with unknown pit bulls (or really any dog) because I live in an area where some people do encourage them to be aggressive, sigh. That's totally fair and understandable. While I don't like the "all pit bulls are inherently dangerous" stereotype, I also don't agree with the "all pit bulls are complete sweethearts and you should never be afraid of them" counter-stereotype. No breed is 100% safe, and the sad reality is many are trained for aggression, or aren't trained properly, or (as is the case with any breed) some really are just crazy. (My mom's a vet who sees dozens of dogs a day, and she can tell you there are crazies in every breed; no exceptions.) And if you live in an area where pits are encouraged to be aggressive, being cautious is totally understandable. ![]()
Aw, that Daisy sounds like a sweetie!
Yeah, between my mom, dad, uncle, and sister, I've owned or co-owned 7 pit bulls in my life, and personality-wise many of the Mabari's shenanigans seemed very pit-like. ![]()

If it helps, the "proper socializing" part is more important when they're puppies, since that's their developmental stage. If you adopt a pit who's a few years old or more, odds are they've already gone through their proper socialization period, and you don't necessarily have keep it up at all times. To be honest, we were homebodies who almost never had guests over when I adopted my then-three and a half year-old Piggy, but she was still a good sport, got along well with people the few times we had them over, and was really good with cats that didn't run away from her. (A cat that flees triggers the "Squirrel!" part of her brain, and she sees it as fleeing prey.)
But either way, that's totally fine. Pit bull awareness! ![]()
