Yes, I love that branch of canon-bending. I consider all my non-canon Inquisitors agents of the Inquisition on my canon playthrough, too. It even works with keeping all my alt Quizz romances still happening while canon Quizz shacks up with Cullen, so none of my favorite NPCs ends up alone - while Trevelyan is dating Cullen, agent Lavellan is dating Blackwall, agent Cadash is dating Sera, other Trevelyan is dating Barris, other other Trevelyan is dating Cassandra, etc. Ship all the ships all the time!

Not gonna lie, at one point I had a massive fanfic planned where the Hawkes were quadruplets just so each of the four DA2 LIs could have a boyfriend/girlfriend. Needless to say it did not get written, like 99% of my fanfic ideas

 

Yeah, I totally feel you on that. I have hundreds of half-written vignettes and ficlets and timelines and cue cards and spreadsheets that will never see the light of day elaborating on the vortex of wild headcanons that make up my official canon.

 

I am a heavy subscriber of the four Hawkes headcanon, though, both because I love that cast too much and because it helps the DA2 story flow better to me in a lot of ways. I can't stand to let either of the baby birds die so Bethany and Carver are both very much alive, I can't stand to leave either Sebastian or Fenris alone so both fHawke and mHawke must live... and even discarding my playing favorites like that, I also think that deconstructing the Tale of the Champion as the stories of four different people all mashed up into one makes Hawke's life make a lot more sense to me. You do and say so many contradicting things as Hawke, and some parts of the story are so wildly glossed over that sometimes I just give up and like thinking that a lot of those "what is going on here??" moments in the game was just Varric mashing the lives of four very different siblings under only one's name to preserve the others as best he could, hide the fact that they're all alive and doing different things out there, and some of them really don't want to be found. So, say, fHawke got all the attribution because the fact that the Viscount of Kirkwall is alive and married to the Prince of Starkhaven is kind of impossible to hide from the masses, but at the same time almost no one who wasn't there and saw it for themselves knows that mHawke exists too and is out there with Fenris, hiding from the mage war, because he "died" early on in the story to preserve their privacy. Stuff like that.

 

I did mention a vortex of wild headcanons, didn't I.

Half of the playthroughs when I'm not romancing Cullen, I'm still shipping him with my unromanced Hawkes. *will go down with this ship, etc* And Cullen/Surana and Cullen/Amell are still relatively popular, even among players who romanced him with their Inky too. Everyone wants a little bit of that noodle. 

I enjoyed my DAI Cullenmance, but I'd have prefered to hook him up with Surana post Inquisition...

 

Can't leave poor Cullen lonely.  It doesn't change the fact I still feel so guilty when I am not romancing him in a pt, so  any other LI has to understand there is a 'connection' with Cullen and 'I' and they just have to accept that. hehe.

Just install the multiple romance mod and stop wading in the shallow end of the polymance pool, lol.

They totally knew about it, too. They were all joking about him on Twitter before the game was released, he was called Handsome Templar Guy or something right?! THEY KNEW.

My greatest dream would be for Barris, Michel, and Alain (b/c yes I'm still Alain's world's biggest fan) to be bi love interests for DA4; I think the excitement of such an announcement would require me to be carted off to the ER and resuscitated b/c that's how excited I'd be.

I'm not sure. I installed it about the time my time for gaming went dancing out the door for a few months. At the current rate, it'll take me over a month just to finish JoH on my Cullenmancer, lol. I'm hoping it'll trigger for the first person you enter a romance with, but I'll find out when my Zhenya Cadash gets to the Winter Palace, lol.

I checked it out, apparently from what I understand the LI that comes first alphabetically will be the one you get to dance with.  I installed it and will give it a test.

Beware that multiple romances will bug out the marriage scene with Cullen in Trespasser, too, if you intend to go that far with this character.

Ugh I just re-read some of the posts mentioning this. Though they only mention Blackwall and Josie, I only have the Solas-Cullen combo, I wonder considering how Solas' ends, that it might not affect it. (hopes) 

if it does, that will just give me another reason to want to slap Solas real hard.

Perhaps if you're the one doing the breakup rather than letting him dump you, the game will understand that his romance has been broken? I'm not really sure how the flags work for him because I've never romanced him myself but, from what I understand, if you are the one breaking up with him before he can break up with you, your romance flag is cleared out and you can still pick up and speed through Cullen's romance late into the game, yes? So maybe that will let you go through the wedding without bugs.

Awww, I would have liked to see how trespasser ended with both romances going. I guess I'll just remove it until I know for certain, nothing is worth missing out on the wedding! Thanks for letting me know

Guys/gals, I'm still struggling through my canon playthrough and I heard that in order to get Cullen's special mission you have to do the Mage mission instead of the Templar one.

 

Is this still true, or was it changed in a patch?  I hate Fiona so much!  GRRRR making me choose between Cullen and Fiona!

You mean "Before the Dawn"? Yes, it's tied to picking mages, just like Leliana's "Under Her Skin" is tied to picking templars. Tho I wouldn't bother with Fiona just to get this quest, if you don't like Fiona.

Well, I figure the best time to get Cullen's quest would be in a Cullenmance game.

Yes, I can confirm that you can break up with Solas just before he breaks up with you, then go run  through the entire Cullen romance (though it plays havoc with timing and stuff a bit.) I don't know if you're doing a polymance whether or not it'll clear the flag for the Trespasser wedding, though.

It's the quest where Leliana and Quizzy are uncovering Calpernia's past. Thanks to that you can avoid fighting with her in Temple of Mythal.
