Ugh, I've been away from the thread for a month, hiding in my dark little corner so I could play Trespasser spoiler free.
Of course, right before it's release I decided to do a Solas romance for the "impact" and real life kept me from finishing the whole game (OCD doesn't allow me to rush through things lol) and just finished it. I must say I felt sad cause it's over... I found his romance heartbreaking.
I'm now going to try and focus on my canon PT with Cullen. I'm aware of some things with him, but still happily clueless for how that affects his ending... for now

So I got a banter between Sera and Cole for the first time today, Cole was explaining a joke involving cow horns (I think?) to her and it ended with him saying "Cullen explained it better" - anyone else ever got this one? I wasn't fast enough to screencap it, and it's not on the wiki... I swear I didn't imagine this conversation, but I can't find a transcription.
Anyway, the thought of Cullen trying to explain a joke to Cole and Cole taking everything so literally is something between cute and hilarious.
I haven't heard that one, but it seems last patch unleashed some of unheard dialogue (I'm pretty sure I heard banter I hadn't heard before as well), even the one that wasn't supposed to be in game. My guess is that they tried to fix banter/comment bug and accidentally let other dialogue bits to see daylight. Not that I mind
(About that "wasn't supposed to be in game" part... Since last patch I'm getting strange Solas comments early Hinterlands (from arrival to leaving to Val Royeaux). They're worse quality, without subs and it seems like only part of bigger banter. I started two games since Patch 10 and in both it happened. In first one I got one comment like that, in second one two. I'm tempted to take my Templar that's waiting for her turn at Haven, just to see if she can get those comments as well).
I'll look out for that Sera and Cole banter. Thanks to that I'm stuck with image of Cole taking notes, while Cullen tries to explain it

Yeah, the more lore we get, the more questions I have. I'm sure we'll reach the point where I'll have to write them down, just to remember them.
And on a topic of comments about Cullen. There's a window in Varric's approval where you get additional option to ask him about Inquisition. I rarely have a chance to check it in other pts, so of course I decided to abuse it. His comments about Cullen.

These are apparently based on how often you use each advisor at the war table. Varric has different comments for Cullen, Leliana and Josephine, all based on whether you've been using each of them often enough, or neglecting them over another.

I don't think I've gotten it since I never have had those two in a party together, but I've heard it on a compilation on YouTube, I'm almost sure. I remember Cole's voice saying "Cullen explained it better."
About Cole's story with Cullen, we explained it long ago in this topic, and I think it was about the blowing horns and how they work. Cullen didn't explain a joke but was talking about it in a military way, I think.

I'm still getting over the shock of Trespasser from last night, mainly Solas crushing my Lavellan heart and then realising OMG her arm?! I had the classic double look for that with the typical overly done gasp, face and all.
I actually got really really sad too. Like I do with most things I love that "finish", it's like a part of my is gone. I invested so much time into the game even before release and now I have to wait a few years for more answers! I know everyone's ini the same boat but alas, I'm still sad.

I've read a few theories, seems opinion is split about the IQ coming back due to her/his injury and saying in some possible endings "my adventuring days are done". Tbh, I really don't see this as the end of the IQ's story esp if they continue with the Solas story. I wouldn't be surprised if there's dual protagonists and my bet is whatever organisation the IQ forms at the end with Cass, Leli & Harding (I disbanded in favour of a more secured network - no point being strong imho if information is leak & not reliable), they'll head with the new protagonist as an agent. I really hope going to Tevinter we see Doriam again and Mae this time.
I made my partner (whose never played but knows some of the lore) watch the ending from meeting Solas and he feels Solas can be persuaded not to do it, in fact he thinks Solas truly wants to be stopped & that's why he still watches her in the fade (again another choice I made). I think Solas enjoyed being just Solas again during his time in the Inquisition but now putting on his Dread Wolf hat.
I also think Sandal's prophecy is about Solas walking up and the veil will come down... I think sooner or later the Evanuris need to be dealt with.
Some of my theories are conflicting because so much is possible. Just cause I can also see him tearing down the veil and needing to kill him to prevent it.

I would like my Quizzies to confront Solas in more personal manner, ideally with my input... still I am torn on the protagonist. I love all my Quizziez and they are quite involved in what is going on atm. BUT There is a part of me that wants to experience another story through the eyes of a new protagonist. Also, for what we know now and expect from DA4, lots of other issues may resurface, other beings might come into play and we might (and likely will) find out that Solas was only the tip of the iceberg. When I start to think about dual protagonist/involved cameo variants I get a headache. I have no idea what I want

Yeah, I heard that he's quite different with low approval IQs and that. I just hope that he's part is not glossed over and I would like at least my IQs involved in whatever outcome there is for him, esp since at the end they go looking for him regardless. I don't particularily see him as a "villian" like Cory... so I don't think he'll be the nex t big bad per say
I even think you could end up joining forces again against prehaps the Evanuris... it's funny, as much as I liked Solas contrasting romance arch compared to Cullen's, I still want that fluffy ending for Solas & Lavellan haha But I truly think that will only end with one of their deaths now.

I can say for sure that Solas sounded quite different in my game. Rhiannon had negative approval with him and he honestly sounded like quite the pompous dirtbag to me- he even comes right out and says that he doesn't give a rat's patootie about humans (or even modern elves) because they're non-entities to him...he doesn't see them as people, but more an infestation needing to be exterminated. He doesn't seem sorry at all - the most feeling out of him was when she asked him why he even bothered to help at all as Solas and he was like "they deserve some comfort before the end." Well gee, thanks for that much...let's not make the cockroaches suffer before they're wiped out.
He definitely came off as a villain in my game. And I got the impression that the only reason why he let Rhiannon live was not because he felt any sense of mutual respect or even owed her anything for stopping Corypheus, but because he felt she was no threat and was even openly mocking her - something to the effect of "I'm going to help you because you're a pathetic inconsequential gnat of a human, and it will amuse me to see you try and stop me."
It seems like no matter what I did role-playing as a Templar there was just no way to make friends with him so I decided to roll with it. I have other playthroughs with positive approval. For once I wanted to make decisions like an actual person rather than doing stuff just for approval to be able to complete a companion quest.
In the end, Rhiannon was able to declare her intentions to him. The negative approval side was very well written, in my opinion. Lots of contention, which was totally awesome. Loved it. Can't wait to see what happens.
I'm also very excited to finish a positive approval playthrough as well so I will have both sides of the coin for the next game. I want to finish my Lavellan Cullen/Solas-mance playthrough.

That's a pretty big patch o.O I know the bug where the wrong ruler is referenced in dialogue in Trespasser is supposed to be fixed today so that should be one of the things.
One of the things this patch is doing is slowing down the ending slides. Per Mike Laidlaw:

I don't think the IQ's story is done yet either. I know Bioware said originally that we'd get a new protag each game, but things change. By now the IQ is so invested in finding/stopping Solas that I can't imagine him/her just letting someone else do it.
Melissa, I'm going to have to disagree with you there for one major reason, Solas knows the Inquisitor too well. Having inside knowledge about how an opponent thinks and reacts is immensely valuable. Solas has gained that, while giving away very little of himself in his time with the Inquisitor, so what we know about his real personality, motivations, handles and goals are limited to being useless.
A new protagonist would put an x factor into play. Someone that can't be anticipated as readily by Solas, because he doesn't have the same kind of intimate knowledge.
Mike did mention at some point about exploring options like multiple protagonists like in GTA V. I think that's insane for a game that doesn't do preset PC, but that's the only way I see the IQ coming back. Most likely they won't be directly involved but possibly in some chessmaster fashion.
Which makes me all the more intent on keeping the Inquisition going, if only to poke Solas in the eye, and keep control of the place where he decided to play God in the first place.
