So about Cullen and Trespasser:

Spoiler

It's a very short cutscene - don't expect something like those wedding mods in DAO full of long extended ceremony scenes and a whole audience, it's just a quick private exchange of vows right there at the Palace courtyard. It's super cute, but not this whoooole thing. I loved the proposal itself more than the wedding, the way Cullen says it is... yes.

And yes, Cullen is wearing the nutcracker outfit (and it can't even be modded into one of those beautiful retextures we can use at the ball)... but at least Quizzie is wearing a proper wedding dress instead of the pantsuit. <3

And people say Bioware never listens.

Spoiler

It's actually in an even uglier dress...in my opinion...because of the glaring elephant of a DA:O-style collar/neck seam where the head clearly doesn't match the body.

I wish she could wear the uniform.

You deserved it  :D

According to patch notes they even fixed bug I and a few other after me pointed out right after patch 10 came out. Yeaaaaah, not listening at all

Wedding talk reminds me! I started my second Cullenmance PT last night and I noticed when I talked to Cass there was an option to tell her she missed the wedding (idk how I missed that the first time). The dialogue there was pretty cool, really happy they did put it in. Makes me feel better about that whole weird conversation with Cass but only a bit. Still annoyed about it for my Solasmance character,

There are mods for... Of course there are. I have no idea why I'm surprised people did wedding mods for Origins.

I figured it'd be maybe a two three minute thing, considering everything they had to fit into the DLC, I'm surprised we got a ceremony at all, not just the proposal. Of course I consider the just before the desk sequence the non proposal proposal. It sure as hell sounds like "I want to spend the rest of my life with you so..." But I'm horribly gushy about this sort of thing.

I love you invoking the Nutcracker, Riverbanks, especially since you're right. As long as Cullen doesn't try ballet. Box step, fine, maybe the Shepard non dance dance. But anything else, he'll hurt himself. Looking forward to having a wedding dress again. I actually liked the dress from the City Elf Origin, though this one comes out somewhat better.

Been missing this place, and been thinking about you and R2 specifically, River. One Word: Sebastian. I'm really coming around to the man.

Patch notes on reddit are rather short for the almost 3GBs the patch downloads...

Spoiler

Wonder what else is there to merit such a large download? Bit much for just a few bugfixes.

Still, glad to see Explosive Shot fixed, the Shokra-taar/Antaam-saar switched around, and the Teagan line fixed. That last one was driving me up the wall - I've no character saves where Gaspard is emperor, but I had to hear that every single time.

This is why I love Bioware. And thanks. Hopefully now that the summer invasion has been beat back, I have a few moments during normal hours to check in. Though I expect tempo will have slowed a bit.

Oh dear... okay, to clarify are you talking about the reason why everybody in DAO had a high collar or a necklace when lacking clothing? If so, Gahhh....

Happened in DA2 as well, actually. Heads and bodies were separate... that's why you could change the head of an NPC or companion to anything you wanted  And changing companion armor was literally swapping different bodies...

For what it's worth it, I made the opposite oopsie as you - I actually missed the Cassandra conversation about proposals on my first playthrough of Trespasser, and only got the one after Ari was already married. (to my credit, it's really easy to miss the first conversation about the wedding rumors if Cassandra is your Divine - you need to talk to her with Teagan first to release her from that custcene, then talk to her again by the balcony all the way over the other side of the palace, and only then trigger the first conversation with Cullen, since that'll throw you right into the wedding. I only figured this out when I ran through Trespasser again with a different character who had Vivi as Divine, so Cass was by the balcony from the start...)

But yes, that second conversation really is lovely, I love how she's so happy for both you and Cullen, the two people she probably considers her closest friends at this point. From her point of view it must be the sweetest thing, seeing Cullen go through so much and find happiness with you in the end, and see you also go through the impossible and still find peace with Cullen in the end. I just love how this friendship goes three ways between him and you and her. ^_^

Yeah, I saw that.

I was actually referring to Shokra-taar/Antaam-saar bug  :)

Can't really tell why it's so big. Maybe it replaced some old files? Preparing for GOTY edition? Who knows.

I would have thought with an entirely new engine this wouldn't be an issue. Lyceum was an ideration of the Eclipse engine with better graphics, the new conversation system, and was developed cross platform rather than ported later (which made me cheer, the port to Xbox was horrific). But Frostbite has no relation to either of those engines since it's developed by DICE iirc. Yet again, I find myself wondering how plug and play these things are, since we see a lot of models making reappearances in odd places. Krem's cuirasse with the Kirkwall heraldry a glaring example.

I'm hoping for more as well, and there's a lot of speculation that something else is down the line and this is prep for it. I have no idea what. Stuff for Skyhold possibly? More QoF stuff to enhance replayability? I'm thinking the last.

Yeah, there's even a dwarven wedding mod, though I think it finally came out just before DAI, lol. It's quite lovely, actually.

I'm more so-so on the wedding dress for different reasons. I'm not that big on dresses to begin with, but I'm less wild about putting my Dalish is something clearly Orlesian. Fortunately that's something I can hope a modder addresses. My eyes aren't good enough to be bothered by the neck detail that irritates MelissaGT so much (but her sharp eye is why she gets such lovely screenarchery.)

.....you've got me thinking of Cullen doing the Shepard Shuffle now, and I'll be laughing about that all day long.

The dress isn't too pretty, but I don't care, I'm just happy to have a dress at all. Some people now wish their Inquisitor could wear a suit to the wedding; well, that's how I've felt since release day, wishing my Inquisitor could wear anything but a suit to the ball. Sucks to have your choice made for you, doesn't it. They could make everyone happy if they'd let us choose our default formal outfits, but alas. Ugly or not, it's a dress, and I'm happy - Thedosian fashion is ugly in general, so this one fits right in. :P

And specially now that modders have ported the dress to the base game and other modders have retextured it, I'm over the moon - my Quizzies can finally wear gorgeous party dresses to Celene's ball, at last.

Been missing this place, and been thinking about you and R2 specifically, River. One Word: Sebastian. I'm really coming around to the man.

Hahaha, well, I'm ever so glad to hear that! :D I know Sebastian can come across as a lot of things that aren't necessarily true to his character, depending on from which angle you approach him, so I'm always glad to see people coming around those initial impressions he can give off. And I'm always up for it you wanna chat about him.

That is actually sweet, and I still get awed and amused as someone who has no idea how to mod. (I wanted to mod the Atton romance for Sith Lords whimper).

I'm not big on pomp and circumstance, especially in weddings. My father jokes that my youngest sister grew up reading bridal magazines knowing exactly what kind of wedding she wanted before she met the guy. I dragged the guy home, said: I'm getting married, and then got hit by the train that is my mother's adoration for planning such things. If I didn't have pictures, I wouldn't have remembers most of it. :)

I do like the idea that we get to see this and it's NOT a huge deal or a huge deal overtaken by events and forced to be a quick set of vows. Honestly, besides the cloths all I want to know is anyone in attendance besides the Revered Mother. I assume we're going to need a few witnesses :)

I'm debating making an elf to play through if only to get the elven vows, since as I understand with a human only he's the only one who says them. But that's yet another playthrough....

There's only one, ahem, "guest" in attendance, but I won't spoil who it is. :P He's... Cullen's groomsman, as it were.

And the secrecy is part of the whole thing, actually, it's lampshaded in the proposal that it'd be awkward for the Inquisitor to suddenly marry her Commander in the middle of the Exalted Counsel, so they have to find a way to do it in secret. It's like eloping, only you don't actually run away to get married, you just... do it right there in the gardens.

HA! Yeah, that small stuff really tweaks my gourd to no end. Because of that one detail I refuse to take screenshots of that entire scene (not to mention the fact that the other glorious mods don't show up, like eyes and my scruffy-face for Cullen).

It's 2015 and we have to deal with this? C'mon!

W8KqGr1.jpg

I'm not about to whine about DA:I graphics...believe me I'm not. You guys have seen my screenshots. The game has amazing graphics. But there are some things, like the giant elephant neck seam, that drive me absolutely bananas. It'd be one thing if we could fix that with mods...but even the modded dresses have the "necklace" *cough* seam. And it's not just the wedding dress that does this...there are other armors...and the really cool ones like the body painted Avaar set. You're stuck with THE SCARF. It's just the way the body models were built with the game, and it seems lazy.

But if we can have a completely seamless separate body and head in Skyrim which uses an engine from 2011, we should be able to have as much in a game from 2014. I mean seriously, check out the face/neck/body merge with my character in Skyrim -

I'll do you one better... Shepard Shuffle to Shut Up and Dance. That song has become the theme song for Cullen's romance in my mind. I have no idea why, other than it's awkward guy having girl drag him on the dce floor and falling in love. Nah... Can't be that kind of thing at all.

Or maybe it's because of this (Castle TV series potential spoilers)

Nah, it's awkward clueless guys being hit over the head by the women who love them.

As long as it doesn't look like it came out of the seventies I'm fine. And yes, I know some see seventies fashion with nostalgia. I am not one.

I always liked him, but never got really deep into his character until I started with this DA2 Cullen fic. Sebastian, Aveline and Cullen have somehow ended up becoming something of the three musketeers with Hawke as D'artagnan I suppose. The fic is AU from the start, but it's gotten really interesting as I slide the pieces around the board to find out what new connections settle in place. And Sebastian's been the biggest one. Well, besides Cullen himself. The fic was supposed to be a fluff piece. It ain't anymore.

But, River, I would love to get your input, especially since I'm going to be hitting a real character driven bit with him. I think of the DA2 crew I have Aveline, Anders, and Varric down the best. Fenris, Isabela and Sebastian I'm competent I think, and Merrill. I try and pretend Merrill is mute. Merrill is like Sera, but for different reasons.

I'm shutting up now.

I didn't see that in my first pt (and only wedding one up till now), because my Quizzy had long hair. So when you posted pics of this weird neck some time ago, I was confused... and disturbed

There are couple of armors I avoid purely because of neck seam. Not wearing Qunari armor on qunari because of that is the most ironic.

This reminded me of Carta Coat and how Quizzies neck seems like it's growing out of it.

100% unedited, straight from the game no-seam-on-her-whatsoever-perfect-it's-flawless-why-can't-we-get-this-with-DA:I?

(...)

To be fair (again) in the discussion between Skyrim and DAI, Skyrim modders were only able to reach seamless necklines after years of messing with meshes and textures and practically rebuilding the model skeletons from scratch. It didn't come looking like that right out of the box - vanila Skyrim has the same ugly mismatching necklines as... any other game, ever.

Aaaah, I like that. Sebastian + Aveline + Fenris is my Hawke's go-to team/Law & Order squad, and with the friendship I headcanon between Hawke and Cullen, the five of them are so fun to write around.

Hit me up on PM (or tumblr if you have one) any time you wanna chat about Sebastian, really, I always wanna talk about him. :P I'd be happy to help work around any blocks you may be hitting with his character, sometimes just airing it out helps you see where you're getting at clearer.

Yes, it is :) Animation during cutscenes in Blackwall romance with dwarf can be quite awkward (I think by now everyone knows that), but I find him perfect for my Cadash ladies.

Sebastian and Fenris are one of my favourite banter pair in DA2.

If not for the fact that I despise archers in DA2, I would definitely take him out more, not just for city strolls for banter.

Yes, but my point is that the technology is there to do it because it's still the same engine. The Skyrim modders were able to create such beautiful seam-less textures on a 4-year old engine. So, fast-forward 4 years...why couldn't Bioware do it right the first time knowing that it was an issue they had going back to 2009 with the first game.

The way DA:I was designed, I'm not sure the engine will even allow for model changes...unless Bioware releases a tool that allows modders more freedom. I'm pretty sure the DA modders are pretty much stuck til that happens...IF that happens.
