Thread is so quiet now , while Solas thread is very active.

I guess things are slowing up for Cullen as it "appears" his story is done I suppose.

 

Well, for myself, I can say I'm not distracted by eggs. If anything, Cassie's romance is sneaking its way back into my heart this week.

 

But actually I'm distracted by Cullen himself, trying to write this thing that doesn't seem to work because he won't cooperate. Mia was right, Cullen can be impossibly stubborn when he wants to.

I will! I'm FINALLY nearing a point I haven't played yet from my previous PT from before my PS3 choked on the game so I'm excited to see new stuff! I let Hubs hog the PS4 when he bought Witcher III since I was feeling kind of bummed about the whole DAI crash and not wanting to start over again so soon. But now, I just need more free time. So I'll be posting my squees here.   I ALMOST managed to avoid even the spoiler of his family name but it gets used so much now, it kind of snuck in but I'm otherwise unspoiled. It's been a wretch keeping awayf from youtube videos and such. I knew if I watched the footage, I'd have a harder time wanting to play. lol! Other than Blackwall's story and I know Solas has something going on; I can say I know nothing of how the game ends. Wooo!

Twitter is harder because it just pops up in front of you so I had to mute a lot of peeps (sorry guys!) but usually, when I see mention of certain words, such as lyrium;  my brain goes "nope" and I don't read it. Like it just skips right on past - it's almost a reflex now. lol! But Cullen appreciation is usually fine. I just miss this place and my PC is better now, so I wanted to come back. Yep! Romancing Cullen silly! I've gotten the kiss and started his personal stuff. Now I've a lot of other story shiz to do so it seems the next progression will be after I finish with the Adamant fortress, i think?

Indeed! I got spoiled a little bit on Solas - which blows - since I plan to romance him (and Cassandra one day too). I kind of feel like... "How can I romance him knowing something bad happens?" I'm hoping the unknown of how his plays out as I go will be enough to keep my interest, despite knowing that he does... *something*. I dunno what exactly since I've only caught allusions to it, a lot of "dammit Solas!" and some comparisons to Anders (who I don't like much) so it'll be interesting to see what that has in it. but I do appreciate greater feels from not knowing. Even though spoilers don't bother me much, it's still nicer to play without them.

I admit, I'm bit of as Solas fan after doing Trespasser with my Lavellan first but Cullen

I'm playing my Solasmancer, so right now I'm more intrested in things that are connected with certain Egg.

I know I'm not the only one that mentally replaces that lion helmet with a mabari one.   (if you squint you can pretend it's a snarling mabari, lol)

I wouldn't worry about that. Anders' betrayal was such an immense shock probably because the game was so short and we just had very little time to see it coming. There is also very little romance content for Anders (esp. when compared to Fenris imo) so it almost feels as if he becomes cold and distant towards the end.

 

The story is much loooonger so whatever is revealed about Solas does not feel so shocking / painful / WTF (again imo). It's definitely "oh my gawd" worthy, but also the relationship is more developed (there's just more THERE) than with Anders. And I say this as an Anders lover, romanced him at least 2-3 times

 

Regarding Cullen, I haven't much to say either, but I'm sure I will once I finally romance him. That will probably happen this winter break. Honestly I am just not ready to play DAI a third time. It is a pretty tedious game for me. Very big and very beautiful, but very tedious (again, for me, different strokes, yadda yadda ) I'm currently on my 4th or 5th run of the ME series, playing on Insanity and coming dangerously close to breaking my controller due to Miranda's tendency to ignore my commands and rush into battle only to be splattered with bullets and insta-murdered :|

 

As much as I complain about the DAI size and pacing, I must say the Solas romance (and just his character) are jaw-dropping and awesome. He's #2 behind Fenris now And... I suspect I will feel the same about Cullen. So they did get that right in my book. Well, except for the fact that I have to use a mod to access them, but oh well.

Hey guys been hooked on ME finally found article that said Mr Hudson an whoever didn't want all the questions answered like how long the reapers been reaping kept thinking I was missing something. After so many Sheps but I get to that point where you saying goodbye and whoever wrote Kaidans Garrius okay all of them did such an amazing job but when Kaidan says I can't lose you again then Garrius ugh turn off go back to one cry every single time. So dusted off BG series hoping to go back to DA have the new DLC just can't get into it ugh but found this video to hopefully help get over leaving Kaidan. Okay just going to go play BG and hopefully stop thinking about it

Amazing almost doesn't sum it up for me, personally. I mean... you know me and my devotion to Cullen... and the Solas romance has just blown me away. Literally and figuratively. So, IMO, it's worth it.

But mostly what I meant was that DAI is so much longer, and Solas is such an integral part to that story. DA2 is incredibly short, and Anders is fairly peripheral until that final scene. 

 

Regarding fans who are complaining about Solas not having enough romance scenes... stuff and nonsense   It's quality over quantity, and again, Solas is probably the most important companion, yes, even more important than Cassandra (who would have predicted that?!). Now I romanced Iron Bull, and there were several romance-specific cut scenes, but I barely remember them because they were mostly just about sex and humor. (I wish I could burn from my mind that awful scene where the couple are "interrupted" by all the advisors....) 

 

Now I haven't romance Cullen, so for all I know there could be like 5 high quality deeply emotional cut scenes lol so in that sense I guess he would be rivaling Solas, but again, Solas is so integral to the story... plus his romance is very SPECIFIC since it's Lavellan-only; how many other romances refer REPEATEDLY to your race and culture (but not gender, ha, THANK THE CREATORS, I mean, er, f*ck, who am I supposed to pray to now?!)

LOL ... which is why I said it's debateable!  I think DA2's romance model was just too different to compare head to head like that. But then, I think no one was intrinsic to the story in DA2. Even Hawke, in some sense, was an accessory to what happened in Kirkwall, not the main actor. (:moment of silence for how central a Cullen romance could have been in DA2: *sigh*)

 

On DA:I Cullen... you'll have to try it out one of these days. It actually really is romance heavy, definitely compared to Solas, perhaps even compared to all the other LIs. The others, I dunno. But the devs *really* piled it on with Cullen. Besides woo breaks, it has at least 4-5+ romance cut scenes in the main game, depending on how you want to count. Doing my Solasmance on the second PT made it painfully obvious how much more limited Solas's is, which is curious given that they were both the late added romances. Heh. Then again, Solas's romance was an afterthought to his story while Cullen's was the, erm, only thought, it seems. LOL 

 

Of course, that all said, even with his more limited romance budget, Solas is life.

 

And for some levity: Cullen-ized Solas (because I just keep cracking myself up! )

In my head canon, they stay in Kirkwall and stabilize things, eventually redesigning the Circles to be better - and separate from the Chantry, using Hawke's wealth and connections for finance and just meddling in everything to save mages and stop maleficarum and basically making everyone feel bad for reacting so poorly to what Anders did - all while having amazing sex wherever they please (and possibly having a babe or two, depending on how I feel like rolling). *sigh* Damn I still wish my Hawke could've romanced him!
