He's standing next to Vivienne. He's a Fereldan templar, she's an Orlesian mage. Epic clash of cultures. She also gives him that look, "DID I JUST SMELL A DOG???" And he's like, "Keep calm, and steal her mana! Blink-blink! And don't look at the staff..."

Spoiler

(no more likes for me  :()

But, LIKE!

I thought Greg Ellis was talking about 4 pm by LA time? it's 3 am there now, so you won't miss anything :) Sweet dreams :)

I wonder if BioWare will release some new info today. I need to fan the fire of my fangirl craziness to get more productive.  :wizard:

Speaking of Cullen and mages, I don't think it will be a problem. Looks like he doesn't trust mages in general, but can trust a mage he knows well, like an apostate Hawke or the Warden. Although it feels like he choses to overlook that they are mages, kind of like he's pretending that they are not. I had this impression since the Broken Circle, not just because he ignored my Hawke's fireballs in the first act of DAII  =] Maybe it was just something devs overlooked. But I think it won't be a problem with mage!Inq nonetheless.

Yeah, I don't think Vivienne and Cullen will be easily friends, though for Vivienne it'd likely be more about his Fereldan origin than the fact that he's a templar .
I wonder how Leliana and Vivienne's relationship would be. Leliana is culturally Orlesian, but I don't think she'd like Vivienne mocking Ferelden.

We don't even know if Vivienne will mock Ferelden, though? I can easily see her not caring one iota about Ferelden or what Ferelden does, especially when her focus lies with the circle and what will happen with her political position. She might just roll her eyes at the Ferelden boots, though.

While I agee that her focus will be the mage-templar was and (possibly), the OCW, I guess that some banters/dialogues can pop out about her bein Orlesian and some other characters being Fereldans (and in the case of Leliana, I'd say there are high chances for a dialogue/banter about fashion).
It happened sometimes that companions discussed their backgrounds with other companions, and I guess that in the keep there might be some ME3 normandy banters.
It's true that we don't know her opinion of Ferelden as a country though.

I'd imagine that Leliana and Vivienne bond over their love for fashion.. though they might rather feel like they are competiting over it rather than being friends XD Like having rivalry over it.

I like that they're standing next to each other though. It's probably nothing, but it's just nice to see him next to a Mage with no intention of smiting one, lol!

Oh, that's very true! I can just imagine her opinion of Ferelden being nothing more than "it's another country, what am I supposed to say about it?", and, personally, I hope it is like that? I mean she might have opinions from a political standpoint, but I hope it doesn't go overboard. I can find the Ferelden and Orlesian rivalry/hate for one another interesting -- and amusing where it comes to pompose characers getting the hell snarked at them -- but I hope not ALL Orlesians and Fereldens are like that? And I hope I don't have to hear about that sort of thing from the companions all the time?

Hell, I'm not sure if Vivienne even sounds Orlesian. She might have Ferelden (or somewhere else) roots, because she doesn't sound French to me.

We need more examples of characters from both countries that aren't caught up in the biases created by old wars and terrible history-- I understand how history can form this biases, mind! But, you know...

I'm probably failing at articulating myself.

I think she is of Rivaini origin but was raised in Orlais or something...I remember reading so in the Vivienne thread although not sure if it's speculation or not,if I find the exact quote I'll post it here.

If you think about it, the pair of them want the same thing, so they'll probably get on relatively well in terms of beliefs. They may not agree on the fashion and stuff, though.

While I love making Ferelden vs. Orlais jokes, I can't see Vivienne making fun of Ferelden, or mocking Ferelden. I can see her rolling her eyes about their fashion, but I think she's smart enough to maintain decent relationship with her Fereldan comrades. Besides, Vivienne is mentioned in TME as Celene's ally, and Celene believes that Ferelden and Orlais should be good neighbours. So I assume Vivienne has similar views.

Altho, isn't that a basic requirement for being Orlesian?  :P

I hope we get fashion in DAI, just imagining Viv approving or disapproving of our clothes would be somewhat humoring. :P

It's all just speculation as far as I know. I think all we know for sure is she's black, and humans with darker skintones tend to be more common up north, like in Rivain. My theory is that she was Rivaini, hence her English accent, but for whatever reason was given/moved to an Orlesian Circle, and there, she found she had to reinvent herself somewhat, hence her French first name with no known last name, in order to gain power within the Imperial court. Because if Orlesians hate Ferelden, the birth place of Andraste, what are they going to think of the largely pagan, increasingly Qunari land of Rivain?

I pretty much have the same impression about her origins,I think her way to the top was a rather difficult one and that kind of transformed her into "madame de fer"and also an expert of the game.

Vivienne: Ferelden fashions, must you people always go for the most unseemly thing possible? Look at your filthy boots! No-one would dare to be seen wearing those in Orlais!

Cullen: As I recall, Ferelden managed to kick out Orlesian Chevaliers whilst wearing those kinds of muddy boots. If only they had not been too busy not attaching frilly things or too afraid about getting their clothes dirty, they might have been able to quell our rebellion.

Varric: Ouch! Sorry Viv, but point and match to the Templar!

Am I the only one who wants to see a far more sassier side to Cullen in Dragon Age Inquisition? Sassy!Cullen, semi-confirmed rumour

I would love to see a sassier Cullen! I don't, however, think he'd ever be able to beat Vivienne with sass. If there was a dialogue a bit like that in game, that woman would surely come back with the best burn ever. Just the little bit of sass we've heard from her in clips is perfection:lol:

Not to mention that Vivienne would have a ton of practice from her years in The Game.

Reminds me of that funny exam answer. How does Romeo's character develop throughout the play?It doesn't. It's just self, self, self, all the way through.
I kinda feel bad for Juliet though. She was only 13, to be fair.

...you gave them an A for that one, right? xD

Sassy Cullen? No way. He's a grown up version of Paladin Butters. If he says something cheeky, it's probably by an accident, because the stars aligned, and the Maker honored him with His gaze for 5 seconds.

I don´t think anyone will be easily friends with Vivienne  She seems to me like she will try to keep emotional distance...
