I think there's still no consensus on his hair from DA:O, except that a lot of the red seems to come from the indoor lighting in the Circle Tower. Once you take him outside, it's closer to a darker blond with reddish tints. Once upon a time, Gala tried for a lighting corrected comparison which showed they aren't actually all that different between DA:O and DA2. 

 

 

Nevertheless, I think you can just call his hair whatever you want. That's what everyone else has done over the years!

It's also an issue for da2!Alistair, who looks much better once you take him outside. I think the fact is that the lighting is just wonky, and there are a few colors of things that the fandom cares deeply about.

 

(nod) It's just weird they seem to have this lighting problem. I guess with the ten thousand things that you need to do in a game something is going to slip, but it's just odd.

Thanks everyone for your input! Well the PC controls aren't a problem for me since I use an xbox controller. I have noticed that it is very so-so (a.k.a. "poke poke") at the beginning from watching Cole, but once you start to advance and build into that assassin tree Cole becomes a monster, so there would be that to look forward. But yeah ultimately I have always seen Auren as an archer, and a top notch (ba-dum-tish!) one at that. Dalish Robin Hood if you will Or maybe just very Legolas. I would say he has the same disposition as Legolas, kind of haughty and very sure of how amazing he is. But minus Legolas' occasional sense of humor. (EDIT: It's going to be fun romancing Cullen while selecting all the jerkface dialogue options haha)

 

Well I have time to decide. He was the type to voluntarily disappear from his clan for days, hunting alone and silently, which actually could suit a close combat kind of style. We'll see.

Regarding Cullen's hair, I always just go with the latest and greatest. So he's blond in DAI, therefore he's a blond. Also people's hair does change, so /shrug Maybe at 18 he had reddish blond but as an older man it's gone full on blond.

If only you didn't have to choose! I'm still sad that I can't switch weapon sets in this game. Makes sense to me that a Dalish hunter should be able to do both range and melee!

It is, isn't it?? I mean ultimately you have to select one for the skills, but like at least in DA2 Hawke would automatically switch to daggers during close combat. And correct me if I'm wrong but all you had to do in DAO was bring up the little wheel and you could switch in the middle of battle. 

 

I could always play archer and just select, what's the specialization that Varric has? I've never used that one.

This is also plausible. I've just always gone with blond with reddish highlights. But then, I wasn't writing fanfic for DA:O, so with DA2 Cullen it was easier, IMO.

I got the demo and the character gen drove me insane. I wish we'd had something like ME2/3 system with the sliders and codes. That access grid, and the moody Fade lighting... I understand why they did it, but this is where separating mechanics from story is a GOOD thing.

So on my usual look around for new mods, I found this little jewel here: Open All Halla Doors

 

I remember... someone in the thread besides me also had their completionist nerve struck badly by this quest, so if they're still around... yey, look at this! We can now complete all the subquests and still choose whatever ruler we want without depending on which coins or secrets or whatever you want to complete. ~Glorious.

Yeah I used leaping shot anytime one of the bad guys realized I was actually there (since I hang so far back from the rest of my team, well, usually me and Solas) and started charging me Then if they keep running at me I turn invisible.

 

You know I really built Alin to kick butt; he was a Tempest Archer, and I could take dragons down in just a couple minutes towards the end of the game (let's not get into The Descent.... ugh). I'm really feeling like I've conquered that sub-class.

 

And right now I'm feeling pretty high because my ME2 Insanity run is going really great; I beat the Collector ship just now, and you know what's funny... when I was younger and playing lots of FPS with friends I had a lot of confidence in myself as a gamer, but once I started coming online and hanging out on the BSN around other gamers I somehow lost confidence... all these people posting videos of how they solo games on insanity/hardcore/nightmare and complete them in record times without ever dying blah blah blah... it just made me lose confidence and stop thinking about the tactical aspect of games and just focusing on the story instead.

 

But ya know what, I think I'm leaning towards DW with Auren and while I don't think I'm interested in playing nightmare I may actually play it on hard, just for the challenge. But any way I can't believe I took up so much space speculating on what class to play, sorry guys  

 

You know, a dagger-wielding inquisitor might have more in common with  a sword and shield wielding warrior like Cullen, so maybe that IS the way to go. They can compare fighting techniques

Forget traps, the trap is the least useful skill of that tree and you can disregard it. You'll only be taking that skill to have access to the rest of the tree, which  is made for archers. What you will enjoy using from that spec is the Elemental Mines and the Fallback Plan, and the Focus ability. Really, you have not seen archery gone wild in this game yet until you've used the Hail of Arrows.

I'm finding modding easier than I have in the past (now that I know how, lol.) I'm even collecting mods I want to use in the future in an "inactive" folder so I can just pop them in as I want to change things up. I didn't expect to mod much, and next to a lot of people I suppose I don't, but I have 10 active at the moment (half of them modding my female dwarves and elves and giving Cullen body hair, lol) plus the utility that lets me give them wild hair colors. I haven't done a lot of appearance modding, though I have half a dozen hair mods in the inactive folder for future PTs, partly because it seems like those are the ones that have had the most trouble with the DLCs and locking up, etc. I'm hoping that now that the final DLC is in place that those are stabilizing because I really want eyebrow mods at least, lol. I swear, they created the vanilla eyebrows and hairstyles with the specific intent to motivate modders...

I'm the opposite... normally I finding modding pretty easy but I've tried to install/use modding with DAI and it never seems to work for me that I kinda gave up. It actually made me feel pretty dumb as I've had no issues before lol I don't normally mod a game til I've played it at least once unmodded.

 

So if anyone knows any good guides with easy step by step I'd appreciate it
