Arl Bryland
By the way this is only very marginally related to Cullen, but did everyone read that super creepy codex entry about Fennecs in DAI, about the girl who begged her father for a new pet every week and they all mysteriously died or disappeared the next day? Yeah, that creep is Arl Bryland's daughter. You can see her at the market square in Denerim, and you can actually hear Bryland telling Alfstanna that his kid keeps asking for a new puppy every week all the way back in DAO. Continuity! ![]()
More importantly, Bryland is actually the brother of Nathaniel's late mother, making that puppy-killing she-devil of his daugher Nate's cousin (poor guy has crazy on his family from both sides, he just can't win). Even more importantly, Bryland is arl to South Reach, where the Noodleforths reside now; thus making Nathaniel and Cullen marginally, remotely almost maybe vaguely have something to do with each other through a series of completely unrelated obscure trivia! Which means I now have an excuse to remind ya'll how hot Nathaniel is, because I'm staring at him in Awakening right now and really needed to express my pain at the fact that we can't smooch him ~sigh, and LOOK I'M STILL ON TOPIC while doing that because Cullen and Nathaniel are like second cousins or something via six degrees of Kevin Bacon logic now, spoilers semi-confirmed. ![]()

Ah, it looks really nice but 60 $ is a bit too much for my taste.
Yeah, $80 for me and then include shipping, handling and duty (or as I like to pronounce it "doody"), it's likely closer to $100. I seem to recall my Shepard bunny hug costing that much...and of course, it went on sale not too long after that.

Barris, Nate, Rylen, Michel for me. Barris is perfection, 10/10, insert good sht meme here; Nathaniel = dat nose + dat voice; Rylen I actually like for his sarcasm and sass more than even the tattoos; and Michel I love as a complex character but aesthetically he's not really my type. Maybe if he was older and had crows' feet and facial hair and a bigger nose? ...but then he might as well be Cullen, lol. Can I trade Michel for Fairbanks? Fairbanks was right up my alley.
And hey, as long as we're ranking hot NPCs: Cassandra. That's it, that's all, everyone else can go home. ![]()

Fairbanks, I had to look him up... ah yes, he's quite good-looking, though I seem to recall he has a sort of upper crust English accent, which I guess makes sense considering his origins
or wait is it an Orlesian accent?? Geez I literally cannot remember. Either way something about his voice irked me, though his character reveal was a pretty curious and pleasant surprise.
Agree about Michel; in the book I did imagine him as blond, but more of a buzz-cut blond (a.k.a. typical soldier) not that almost-a-mullet thing he has going in the game, and yes, I was thinking 30+ even 40+, hence why he's fourth on my list, too.
Rylen I like for his sass, yes, but the accent and voice! It's great ![]()

My birthday's this week so I'm in between... not going to say how far, but in between.
*snip*
Agreed. But characters without issues are so boring. As for Solas and spies, they do need to bring someone new in, or someone from the ranks who's unexpected. I agree, working completely underground might be a problem. I still haven't gotten to Trespasser (Viv will NEVER be Divine), but I imagine my Inquisition being something like the Rangers from Babylon 5. After the Great War they faded into the background and became an intelligence arm waiting for the day that the Shadows would return. I see the Inquisition being similar with a "stop Solas, stop the Elven 'gods' if they get out." And I'm expecting Solas' plan to go awry again and then have to clean up after him.
I live basically on the line between suburban and rural right now, after growing up in a prominently Jewish suburb and going to college in rural southern Illinois.
It's easy for me to "pass" as long as I don't say anything or wear anything that indicates I'm Jewish. Of course, I don't try, neither does my eldest, and at the bus one day she got told she was going to Hell because she was a Jew. Also got told she'd never succeed because she was Jewish by someone else. At the same time, many of the teachers in the district are now Jewish so they get the High Holidays off, and guess who people turn to to ask about that kind of thing. Nothing's ever going to be perfect, but that's no reason not to try. Or I tell myself that, anyway.
Happy birthday! People are like wine, they get better with age.
I haven't gotten Trespasser yet. I finished a PT with my Solasmancer before JoH and Descent and haven't really wanted to go back to play those without him in the party. My Cullenmancer finished JoH and I'm cleaning up a few things before I take her into Descent. After that, she just has Arbor Wilds to be down to the final fight. At that point I'll get Trespasser. I promised my younger daughter all 3 of the DLCs as one of her XMas presents; she drifted away to another game after she finished one run and came back not long before Trespasser and started a Cullenmancer (I finally got to gossip with her about it last weekend because she hadn't wanted romance spoilers) and now she's excited about playing the DLCs because of Trespasser. And B5 is one of my all-time favorite shows! The last show I watched regularly on TV in fact; I loved the rangers.
Ouch, I'm sorry your daughter ran into that. And sad that so much of that still lingers. Someone quit my younger daughter's girl scout troop when they found out she was agnostic so she wouldn't have to be around her. Though, something I'm curious about that maybe you can answer...the friend of ours who's going to be the father of the bride for my oldest this weekend used to tell my kids he was Hannukuh Harry so he could give them gifts every year. His wife told me to shush and let him spoil them, but I'm still suspicious about how "ancient" a tradition that is...?

:cracks knuckles: Let's do this. Hmmm.....
1. Nate -- prob because I feel like I know him best and... oh boy, do I want to reform him, or die trying. (and I vote he gets to stay on the NPC list because he hasn't gotten to be a proper LI, just like Cullen wouldn't be on the list because he has already been an LI)
2. Michel -- ah, I just adored him in TME, which bleeds over into DA:I and his two seconds of screen time
3. Barris -- he's just, gah, soooo beautiful and good and nice and beautiful
4. Rylen -- how is he at the end of the list?? how? I just don't know, but I want to see him in the next game SOOO much.
Bah, I just want to see all four again.
edit: Ah, I forgot Fairbanks! Yes! Him as well. Gah, I'm having a hard time ranking them between hotness and "i want to romance him". I might slip Fairbanks in between Michel and Barris.

Hah! You have good taste, my friend.
No. Nate stays.
(I'm with Riverbanks, d****t, I'd have played Awakening into the ground if he'd been romanceable.)
I never read TME so I really have no impression of Michel other than some serious concerns that he would take part in the Chevaliers' ritual of murdering alienage elves. OTOH, he was trying to right things in the Emprise, so I dunno. He really doesn't have much to say in DAI that lets you get a sense of him, the way you can Rylen's snark. And Barris is very hot, and definitely gets points for questioning the Templar leadership, but I can't get a good sense of him beyond that.
Other than Nate (he wasn't actually a companion in a main part of the game) I'm not going to start getting into other companions. But other NPCs...Harding, hands down. The only reason she wouldn't edge out Nate or Rylen is, well, she's a woman
. And (though I think I'm the only person in fandom who even noticed him) I like Adan. But like I said, sarcasm and what we used to call p**s-and-vinegar is much more attractive to me than looks (though I'm not knocking those as a bonus
.)

Yes, they are. But her wide grin in a romance slide (also showing those biceps) says everything. I'd liked to have heard Varric's comments if he saw her grinning like this at the Inquisitor...

Romanceable Nate... Eh... I would love to try my hands of Nate romancing Cousland.
I'm slowly finishing Asunder, so I should start TME soon. That's why my placing of Michel was purely based on his DAI appearance.
