Aww, well, I'll live lol That's a shame though. I can barely remember the Samson quest that involves Cullen... does he actually accompany you on a quest? I seem to recall that he does. Thing is though, I've completed the game twice before this and chose mages both times. I have two other incomplete playthroughs during which I chose the mages. Only once did I chose the templars (Cadash playthrough) but never played that beyond Skyhold. So not only do I really want to see the templar version of that choice, but it's also the one that made the most sense for my inquisitor; he's always been wary of magic (because he doesn't understand it); however, he has faith in his keeper and his/her (seriously, is it a guy or a girl??) first and second. But non-Dalish mages? Hmmm. Plus he has a crush on Cullen and Cullen seems to favor the templars lol *derp*

I did, however, refrain from going to Redcliffe before making my decision, because I feel once you realize what's happening there, it makes no sense not to make that choice.

I've still never played through the Samson quest with a Cullen-romanced IQ, so I can't say first hand, but I've seen the flirts, and they're... cute. Seems they're most relevant to a mage IQ, since that's when you can ask those awkward questions about whether he's OK with you being a mage, apparently. He does accompany you on part of the quest, but the extra content is talking to him in his office. Not a huge a loss, I suppose. I'm personally still bitter (can you tell? :P LOL), but it's minimal content.

You'll have to see what you think of Calpernia. Lots of folks like her a lot. I'm not in that camp, and would rather have encountered someone of greater significance to my (and my boyfriend's) Kirkwall past (e.g., Samson) for either questline choice. But, that's just me and my DA2 fetish talking. <_< :P

Plus there's Barris, and especially his 'judgement'.

Almost worth the price of admission right there. . . :P

I didn't actually notice the difference between the mage and non-mage Cullenmance as far as that quest is concerned. Could be simply because I was too busy drooling over Cullen.

I, personally, prefer siding mages and that's because I found the quest chain for Calpernia rather boring compared to what's involved with the Samson chain. And, yes, Cullen does accompany you to the temple. He also helps fight. And there's also a pretty awesome scene in Cullen's office after you judge Samson. Well, I think so at least.  ^_^

Oh, one other thing, the templar quest is timed. For me that's grr...

Aww, WHAT, so I'll miss a whole extra scene?? Well it's just too late at this point, shame I didn't choose templars on my other playthrough, but then again, that wouldn't have made sense for Alin, and for Kael, who'll romance Dorian, that won't make sense either (to choose templars).

Ah see I'm playing on hard for a challenge this go around, and I didn't have problems with the timed mission BECAUSE ... I'm a rogue, see, so I just went invisible and sprinted through all the bad guys, talked to the lieutenant, then went invisible again and sprinted back to the main hall  MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

I think you get that scene in his office regardless of romance or not; it just has a bit of extra content for a Cullenmancer. I think. It's been quite a while since I played Derzka through that portion of the game.

Ah, I see, thanks ^^ Well, like I said, too late to pick the other route now, and honestly I don't think I would b/c the templar route is true to this character. But totally agree with R2 that IF one of these is going to give Cullen extra content, it should reasonably be the templar route, not the mage route... harrrumph!!

Now I'm off to explore Skyhold, create Eirik Hawke for the third time, and maybe stomp around some deserts :)

ah, thanks for these steps. the one thing that has stopped me from attempting to make gifs is slicing up the video for gimp (apparently photoshop does it for you). do you recall what program you used for that? every other HowTo I've ready made it sound like I had to divide up the video manually into chunks, the prospect of which succeeded in draining all the fun out of it for me. <_<

the hubby said he'd do a tutorial on it and post it to his tumblr blog.  it's a program he installed that runs in the command window.

aaaand that's all i got on that. will let you know when i get more. i *think* if you youtube it, you can get someone to mention the software.

re: playthroughs changing perceptions:

ALWAYS is the patrick weeks characters that impress me more and more with each playthrough. so in this case, cole, bull, solas, show more depth and interesting nuance with each time.

cullen, however, solid as a rock, and always delightful. :D

There are moments when I wish I didn't have such active imagination...or talkative muses. Cullen struck up a conversation with Marcus from Babylon Five. And now instead of Narn and Centauri at war, I have Templars and Mages.

The Elves have replaced the Mabari...

I need to find my way back to the true path and start writing blasted straight up DAI.

I need to play again. Lavellan warrior this time maybe. Maybe even join the Hellspiral, if I can avoid having someone smile at me. Sigh. Stuck in a rut I am.

This I can write out. The rugrats are at school, it'll be a nice exercise, and maybe they'll get it out of their system, though now that I think about it, the Templars as Psi corp works better... No, just a conversation. At the bar.

Yes, this will get it out of my system.

Hmmm. Damn it. I did not get the flirt option at Skyhold when you talk about fleeing from Haven.

EDIT: Okay, supposedly if you ask him if he was with anyone and he replies, "Not in Kirkwall..." then the mod is working. /SWEATS MASSIVE BEADS OF SWEAT >.< I sent a message to the mod creators just in case. I think I'll hold off on this playthrough until I know for sure the mod is working!

I just had to share what I got in the mail today! Back in July, I was asked to see if I could provide some screenshots of Cullen for Jonny Rees (Greg Ellis) to sign at Magic City Con. I was totally honored that my screenshots were considered. It was an amazing feeling knowing that an actor would be signing my screenshots, and for one of my favorite characters to boot! My "goodies package" also included some wonderful prints of gorgeous fanart along with some other stuff.

The screenshots came out amazing and it was the first time I’ve seen one of my screenies in print, so it’s also really nice to know that the quality is there (and the color matches what I see on my monitor, lol).

I was truly astounded - this made my day!

Omg... well that is very involved!!! Gosh, thank you so much for that write up! I think making gifs takes far more talent and expertise than I'm capable of having lol But now I'm even more impressed by gif-makers!! And I'm sure said more talented individuals would appreciate such a tumblr post :D

Well now, on to more childish things...

Are you sure? It would include lots of swearing  Auren isn't really known for his people skills.

Gosh now that's a compliment!! Compliment to the modders who made him possible. I'm fairly talentless in the CC; I know people have made beautiful male inquisitors without mods but my efforts failed me LOL I can make a cute guy but not a gorgeous one. I basically just applied that complexion mod and BAM!!! instant Adonis. I was like, wow... how is that even possible?? lol

I was going to order the Game of the Year Edtion for my pc...but there's no option for a physical copy?! Does anyone know if that's something coming in the future? I was pretty crushed with this so far...

Found an amusing codex in Trespasser:

Have you seen that magnificent creature by the gazebo? Such a powerful frame as he struts about. It's so charming, seeing him behave as if he owned the place!

The commander's new dog is precious as well.-W

Is it a deal through Origin? Cause if so it's probably only digital copy. I really think companies are trying to move away from physical copies of games.

That's great!!!

Weeeell I'm not sure how long i can wait for a response from the mods. I think I might go forward with my current playthrough. I'll just hold on to a save and can return to that if the romance doesn't work. Then maybe choose either Cass or Dorian. But at that point not sure my heart will be in it??

I have no idea, but if the DLC are bundled with it, it could follow that the whole thing is digital. Dunno.
