Glad you figured it out! Yeah,  I thought Descent was stunning, and had some jaw dropping lore hints that were a little too spare. It felt like a one big codex entry with pretty pictures, tho, given the lack of character interaction or impact on the rest of the world/story. I was impressed with how much I liked the new NPCs, tho, Renn in particular. If Bioware ever wants to FINALLY give us a dwarf LI... I'll take Renn. And, yes, I know there are certain complications to that scenario, but I remain hopeful.

Yeah, I'm with you, though I also felt there were hints that Valta and Renn were a thing. But Renn, mmm, definitely my kind of dwarf.

Well, his body disappeared with his newly demonic magic girlfriend into the belly of the mountain creator god. So... yeah, I think anything is possible with him at this point. It took less to see Leliana again.

H**l, I'd just settle for a well done "leading man" romance of any sort that's open to a dwarf. But a really attractive dwarf romance...

I don't know if it's been asked before, but I figure I'll take a crack at answering. With the caveat I may be completely off base.

If you play through CoJ, the Templars there seem to take it straight up, though that may be in an emergency.

We've seen in DAO and DA2, lyrium comes in a powder so I assume it's mixed with something else. Most likely wine. What's in the philter looks like measuring instruments for that purpose.

I'm not sure if the vial is final product of a mix or just the powder. And that's about the sum total of my knowledge on the subject. Hope it helps though.

Edit - speaking of old... I just noticed I recently passed my 6 yr anniversary here on BSN! R2 is about to hit 6 as well. Do we get a prize?!

Ya'll aren't allowed to be old unless you remember Nixon winning his first Presidential election... Though I guess I'm still a young'un on the BSN (not that I didn't play some of the games much earlier; I just didn't get a BSN account until DAI got close.) It was the Cullen thread that finally tempted me into it (though oddly I was fascinated by Cullen, but not necessarily a fan at the time.)

 

Mmm, coffee. Speaking of which, I think I hear a cup of decaf with Kahlua calling my name. For medicinal reasons. I need my sleep...

Technically, I outdate you all, but I became a member of the old, old BioWare forums. I just never realized I needed to sign up when it was switched to BSN. (That'll teach me to ignore e-mails!  )

BevH, I did the same. I would guess that, like me, you at least remember LBJ being president, if not his inauguration. Still, my partner plays ocassionally and he's got a decade on me so, not the oldest playing DA games.

 

A lot has happened since DA:O to us and, to our beloved Cullen. Too bad we couldn't have Romanced him in DA:O and, played the same PC througout, I would imagine his life has been intersesting beyond what we see in the game, if we could see all of it.

So for anyone following, finally posting new chapter(s) of Fool's Errand! Woooo hooooooo!!! I had about two more chapters in the hopper when NaNoWriMo hit, and now I have another 48,945 words, taking me just about to the end (I was writing the climax when midnight hit on Nov 30). The rest should come out pretty quickly now since I'm back in the groove. 
 
Chapter 15: Fire Is Her Water (ao3) (ffn)

Summary: Three years after allowing Marian Hawke to escape Kirkwall, a disgraced Cullen is sent on a desperate quest to find her. Can he earn her trust in time to regain what he’s lost and finally redeem them all for the role they played in igniting the mage-templar war? Set in 9:40, after the events of DA2 and Asunder.
