Pffft of course I don't need encouragement for modding shenanigans  ahhh brings back good memories for DAO when I modded my xbox save to romance Alistair; my Surana boy had to have a lady body for the first two flirts for the game to "click" and allow the romance to proceed; it was delightful  I do believe I even flirted with Cullen back at the Tower, so see, floaty elf heads and Cullen have become a tradition for me; I must continue this

Or you could try my modded version, a dwarf with Cullen kissing above her head and going for a handful, lol...

Spoiler

I much prefer even this to the levitating boobs and other things in one of the canon romances for a female dwarf :P

I've only tested it so far because apparently I have to remove another mod I'm using on Zhenya, and she was too far along when Arte pointed me to this one. I'm going to start my playthrough with Vetra Cadash over the holidays with this mod so I can get the entire romance with a dwarf. We'll have to see if I can get the wedding scene with a dwarf. I've heard that on the first try, Trespasser refused to recognize the romance flag and defaulted to one of the canon ones, sigh.

omg I will revert to the mental stability of a zygote if Trespasser puts Auren in a relationship with Bull  It already thinks Alin is dating Bull via the Keep; for some reason this game really wants my boys to ride the Bull

HOOOMG The levitating boobs make me lose all faith in BioWare animators I mean come on... I still just cannot /facepalm >.< And yes I've seen that pic before and snickered at Cullen's hand placement but this is the first time I've wondered where Zhenya's hands are and OH MY GOD GIRL right out there on the balcony?!?! hahaha xDDD

Hey, it's Zhenya, and she does seem to have her eyes fixed on...something . Don't take any bets on what she might do if she can do it without embarrassing Cullen in a bad way. :P

Yeah, I'm not going to be too thrilled if the default is IB either. And the levitating boobs were soooo mood breaking that I reloaded and went for the alternative to that scene. We'll have to see if it changes anything in Trespasser because that ending is supposed to be full circle from the one I rejected for the disturbing animations.

omgosh I just played the scene after that one (I think) and I asked him if he had a problem with me being an elf, and in his response he stuttered!!! I kind of squee'd :D It was the old Cullen hehehe ♥ Then he admited he didn't have much experience with this sort of thing and said he was probably over-thinking things. And so of course Auren took the bottom response and told him something like... "Then don't." LOL So smooth, Auren, so smooth  B)

Then they smooched

Haaa he's with mine too! That little Antivan sure gets around!

Ohh yeah Zev and Auren would be interesting hahaha ... I think Zev would enjoy teasing him and turning that frown upside down. As far as killing goes, Auren is just very practical, verging on cold blooded at times, especially towards humans. Zevran I feel was sort of forced into the assassin lifestyle, though he adapted well enough.

By the way, do you guys think anyone would read a multichap fic with Cullen x male inquisitor? It's such a rare pair, and I've had bad experiences writing rare pairs in this fandom... I get like 100 kudos and three reviews lol I'm feeling really inspired by a story idea but it's hard putting your passion into something and knowing no ones going to care.

Sorry if this has already been answered - but I was wondering if anyone has a link to a tutorial about how to mod the Cullen romance.  This is very confusing to me as some of the links I read said that the mods break after each patch - so I really have no idea where to start and which mods might even work now that the game is fully patched.

Also I saw a Cullen romance mod that the creator seemed to give up on - not sure if it was ever finished.

It's great to see that it's possible (and the Dwarf romance picture cracks me up lol)

That depends, do you want to romance him with a qunari or dwarven lady? Or a male?

EDIT: And have you modded your game at all or do you need a tutorial on mods, period :P

Glad you enjoyed them! I will eventually have a full collection of them, but with a different dwarf.

As far as Cullen romance mods, I think I'm using the same one as Arte:

http://daitools.free...yone-t1320.html

and run it with the normal DAIModManager.

The only thing I've run into is it doesn't *seem* to be compatible with the multiromance mod (apparently there can be only one :P.) But I also tried adding the Cullen mod well into the game and after launching two other romances. I may try starting one from the beginning with both mods enabled and see if that works better.

Tish, I thought there was a different file for guys v. dwarf/qunari ladies. Maybe I was wrong? I see the separate file for elven and human men but I'm guessing the first link they provide is okay to use for any race/gender? It's a little confusing, isn't it lol

I will say that they are very kind and will answer questions but they're rarely online so you might have to wait a week or more if something isn't working and you want to know why.

Very confusing. There's one that says "cullen for anyone," which actually has two files that both have to be used but another one specifically for male elves and humans. Not sure why the second would be needed unless it handles something better. From reading some of the other stuff, it sounds like the Cullen romance should also work in Trespasser (should be amusing to see how or if it handles one particular scene for dwarves/qunari/males, lol.)

Thanks Tish and Art - I modded DA:O back in the day but DAI seemed more daunting.  I'll take a look at the DAI Mod-Manager.  I had downloaded this a couple months ago but the mod-merge thing didn't work.  Maybe I was trying outdated mods :)

I'm going to romance him as a male (or try to). I already had forced myself on Alistair so why not Cullen!  No wonder he called me a ball and chain.

Arte can probably be more help in that case, I'm more likely to be looking at undoing race gating myself.

DAI seemed complicated to me at first, but the people who are responsible for DAIModManager did a good job of making it pretty simple once they got it really going. I had some trouble modding at first, but the first set of instructions I found left out a couple of steps on setting up the mod folders correctly.

My dear, it doesn't matter the ship. That's what all stories get on average, unless you're one of few super popular authors. Don't let that deter you!

Yeah I also found it really complicated, but luckily there are tutorials out now so if you're really dedicated, it is possible

Check out this site: http://daimodder.tumblr.com/That will tell you everything you need to know about downloading the mod manager, setting up your mods folder (I just put mine on my desktop) and merging the files. It's not as complicated as it used to be - you don't have to go in and rename this or that file, redo this or that every time there's a new patch (and hopefully there are no more patches at this point).

Once you have everything set up, download the mods you want. We can all give recs for our favorite things, I'm sure. If you plan on playing a male elf I can really help you with hair mods, complexion mods, and body mods, oh, and pj mods.

For Cullen, go to the link Tish gave you (http://daitools.free...yone-t1320.html) and download the one for elves and human men. Unzip them and put each daimod file (there are two) in your mods folder. Add any other mods you want. Then click merge on the mod manager. Voila, your mods should be working now :)

Really?? I thought it was just because my ships were rare. I'm used to getting a lot of reviews - I'm not tooting my own horn here and pretending I'm some super writer. It's just been my experience in other fandoms (namely anime) that you post a story and unless it's riddled with errors you'll get a good 20 or so reviews. My multichapter fics got 100+ reviews, and I know many others in those same fandoms who get as many reviews. I just assumed it was the same for DA and I had just picked some really rare pairs...

...Maybe our fandom is small. Although like you said there are some really popular writers; I think that Coffee, Black writer has like 1000 reviews lol (And I personally couldn't finish the story because super dom Fenris was not for me...).

I think R2s right, that's pretty average, honestly. Certainly better than I got with my rare pair (though admittedly I think I'm the only one who's ever shipped that pair, lol.) I did get about a dozen reviews total but only a couple of dozen kudos, but the handful of people who liked it REALLY liked it and they kept me going even when my other story was getting far more hits, etc.

But while I know the feedback helps keep you going, write what you're passionate about. I really do think it shows in the results, and even if you end up with a small number of followers, they'll be passionate about your story.

I don't have the answer, but I think part of it is that our fandom isn't so much small as saturated. There are just SO many fics, and I think it's hard for some to standout, esp as folks move around on which platform they prefer. This is an even bigger issue for the popular ships, TBH. So it's like social media and the snowball effect on follows; folks glomb onto the proven few (like Coffee, Black). This is a common lament around tumblr that only a few big authors get lots and lots of reviews, for any ship. But like Tish said, if someone likes your story and keeps following it and reviewing it, then perhaps that's enough.

Let's be honest. I know many writers (mutuals on tumblr) whose writing never got beyond five kudos on AO3 and tumblr added together (including same person who "liked" twice". Seriously. Stories that does not even get any like or reblog.

There are also stories in the fandom that get so popular even if it's not about the pairing but it's... about a world we only have glimpses of from Solas' few phrases here and there. Stories stuffed with lores, with faraway places and time we had never got the chance to visit in Thedas. People we never met and only heard tales of. Stories of ancient times. Stories of the future. Stories of no pairing. Stories of the weirdest pairing possible. Stories of OC pairings. Stories of canon pairing. Stories that go against the popular current and define "popular" themselves.

In my honest opinion, go write your story. Whether it ended up popular or not it's another matter of another time. If it's a story needs telling, you need to tell it. You know there are people here who will read it

If anyone can write the story you need to tell with Auren, it's you. And you alone.

Or you could try my modded version, a dwarf with Cullen kissing above her head and going for a handful, lol...

I agree. And while I imagine it would feel great to have a massive following or reviews, etc. all the time, the only thing that truly counts is that you're happy writing. (I know how horribly cliche that sounds but it's really true as a general rule of life.  :) ) Besides, most artists are under appreciated until they're dead. lol
