So, OK, ACTUAL CULLEN DISCUSSION time. Cullen's lip scar. We know from Brianne that it was just an artsy addition from the artists, and she imagines he got it Kirkwall. My question is: how do you get a scar like that?? If you're fighting someone and their sword hits your face, would it really only score your upper lip like that?? Or does it have to be a shaving scar or something equally inane? Or did he get a split lip from a fist fight, and it just didn't heal right?
I'm having a hard time coming up with a plausible scenario in my head. Thoughts?? What's your headcanon for the scar?
It was the Warden's spell, contained in a love letter writen ten years ago.
As a result, the scar would be a bittersweet reminder to Cullen of his once beloved Amell.

Question for you all... I really have no idea why this only just occurred to me, but here it is: If you do NOT recruit Dorian, who is Cullen playing chess with at the start of the scene? Is there an alternate version available to watch somewhere? The Cullen/Dorian dynamic in that scene is pretty cute since Dorian likes to tease people he likes in a friendly way. So I'd imagine that the scene would come across really differently with some other follower.

I think you're imagining battles as more... organized than they really are. Oftentimes it's really just people going at it willy-nilly and bashing each other. So it could be anything, really. Perhaps his face ended up jammed against an enemy pauldron, or his own shield was shoved into his face, or (as you suggest) a split lip from being punched in the face. Weapons flying around, bodies flying around, spells flying around -- it can be quite chaotic. Or maybe he got it during training, or just some fluke accident?
Bonus points for any fic writer that makes it something boring or silly. ![]()
My Inquisitor has the scar option with the upper/lower lip, in addition to the crescent over the right eye socket. I have a non-glorious head-canon for the eye scar, but nothing for the lip one, which I never bothered to come up with.

The scene plays out with Leliana instead of Dorian. It's well done, but not as good as the Dorian dynamic.

^ Thanks! Yeah... the teasing is much better, I think. Then again, I have a bias for Dorian, so...
So hey, its been awhile but in that time my Cullen drawing skills have improved so, with that in mind, here Ser Sexy.

and a slightly and mild NSFW one too.

Hope all of you have been doing well!

Wow. It never occurred to me not to recruit Dorian so I'm actually seeing this for the first time! ![]()

Happy Holiday - whatever you celebrate, or, just Happy Day if you choose not to celebrate at all.
Happy holidays and a merry Christmas!
The fact that Cullen wins chess if the inquisitor cheats but loses if they play fair makes me wonder: is he so used to opponents cheating that he's better at beating them than fair players, or did he let a fair inquisitor win?
I think that's left vague enough to head-cannon however you want, which I would say would probably depend on how experienced a chess player you head-cannon your IQ. I think, though, that he'd most likely know if the IQ let him win, that's very hard to pull off convincingly with a good player.

First of all I cannot believe I found this thread half way down page two... shameful LOL!!! Had to bring it up to page 1
Here is my question. I have played the game 6 or 7 times and have always romanced Cullen. I have read that the Solas romance is also good in a very different way) and that playing as an Elf adds to the overall experience of the game.
So, as I prepare to play my first game as an Elf will I have the strength to forgo another romance with Cullen? Is the Solas romance worth it??? If I change my mind, when is the last time I can start a romance with Cullen.

There is or was a bug that allowed you to romance both. But even without that, you can use a mod to allow you to romance both as well. I think the Solas romance is definitely worth it, though really thin on game time, and playing as an elf at least once gives you a different perspective.
OK Thanks.... I will try.... not sure I can do it.... Cullen is soooooo appealing.!! I do know how the Solas romance ends of course, but I want to try....

I echo the others' comments, it's worth it for the dimension and depth it brings to Solas and all the Trespasser stuff. But just be aware of how slim it is on content and maybe even consider it a speed run. Compared to the Cullen romance there's very little, so the slog becomes real. But nevertheless WORTH IT, at least once. He may end up not being your cup of tea, but then at least all is clear.
