Got my fem Trevelyen Mage to Haven and she got quite the shock seeing the crowd outside her hut. As did I as up until now I've been playing DA:I on the 360 and while its serviceable its biggest fault is the long loading times. Haven is a ghost town compared to the PC.version. She's met Cullen and she thought he looked really good
So she's going after the ex-Templar ![]()

Hi all
I was just curious to know any of your opinions regarding a circle mage possessed inquisitor before the events of inquisition romancing Cullen and how he would react since you guys seen to be really good at channeling ur ibber Cullen
and thank you for helping a weird ass stranger
Hi! Um, I'm not sure I'm quite following. You have an Inquisitor who was a Circle mage and... is possessed during the game? Or, was possessed at some point while she(?) was in the Circle? And then the IQ goes on to romance Cullen during DA:I?
In a general sense, I think Cullen has shown he's reflexive enough about his views, and forgiving enough of people's flaws, that he could probably come to terms with someone he loves who had succumbed to possession at some point (altho, less likely if it's a more current issue, IMO). He better than anyone knows that sometimes you're exposed to extreme conditions that you have little control over. But I also think it could be a bit triggery for him to get close to a mage who has such demonstrated control issues. Personally, I could imagine writing something that plausibly could go either way: Their relationship finds a rocky way through, or they have to end it because he can't trust in moments when he's most vulnerable. In any case, sounds ripe for angst.

Thank you for the fast reply and for giving me insights
also im sorry for not clarifying better what I meant to say was that she was possessed during her time in the circle
and goes on to romance cullen during inquisition
and I tend to jumble my words when I get too nervous posting XD silly me... and well thats true cullen does seem more understanding in Inquisition though I believe he would be quite wary also... Thank you again

Oh, no worries! I just wanted to make sure that I was understanding. I think you're also right to emphasize "in Inquisition" as I think it would have been much harder for him to accept such a thing during DA2. But he's come a long way, in terms of his own self-awareness of his issues.
Whenever I write about him with a mage, like his friendship/relationship with Hawke, I tend to assign him a certain degree of confidence that Hawke is in control enough to be safe outside the Circle. So ... you present a really interesting challenge to that paradigm! How confident can he be about someone who has succumbed previously? How much does that depend on the person? Can the right person overcome his intrinsic fears? Hmm. I think it could be a really interesting central conflict to a story about a relationship with that person!

And yes I agree with you regarding Cullen in DA2 he seemed really really wary about mages particularly with his infamous line in DA2... But atleast he mellowed out in act 3 and well I see his dynamic with hawke, from your stories, would be quite interesting whether friendship or in a relationship with everything happening in DA2 he can even consider hawke as someone who helped him get through all the events in DA2 which would be a really cool way for his character to develop and lead to the Cullen we got in inquisitionOh, no worries! I am not sure I understand. So a circle mage allows herself to be possessed....possessed by what - a spirit, a demon? I would think she would need a pretty good reason for allowing that.
Cassandra and Leliana need to re-think picking her as the Inquisitor. Can you imagine how much credibility the Inquisition could lose if their Herald was or had been possessed? Might not be the best idea politcally. Is she still possessed?

I was thinking more on the lines of a benevolent spirit and well for me she has a really good reason for it

Oh, hmm. Still currently possessed is a bit of a different situation than what I thought you meant.
Too bad we never saw Cullen react to the Avvar mages and their "gods." I would expect it to be rather... explosive.
aaaaand, edit for ToP: You can't say the words avvar and cullen in the same sentence without some... illustration. Another beauty by the talented feylen. coughcough

Still, he does adjust to Cole, apparently, and he's been learning to question at least some of what the Chantry spouts. The Avvar mages allow themselves to be possessed deliberately as protection and teacher and the spirit will voluntarily leave them when they're ready (kind of the reverse of the circle's harrowing test...) His first reaction might be horror, but despite his tendency to solve problems with a hammer, he seems to be a thinker, and he'd question the fact the Chantry teaches that once someone's possessed, they can't be saved in the face of this contradictory evidence. The Avvar "gods" otoh, might be another thing ![]()

There's a rebuttal that explains how a real Cullen would react to a fan girl/boy. ![]()

Agree. I could see him eventually understanding it intellectually. I do wonder about getting involved with someone currently possessed by choice. Especially if, say, he got involved with them before he found out. Heh heh. Angsty angst with a side of angst.

Well, nine ages is hardly a thousand years ago. If you want something realllly ancient, why don't you go check out the Solas thread? ![]()
