Totally agree with you, Tish; the writers always seem sympathetic and open to progressive ideas and suggestions, but a lot of times they eff up and let their privilege show. It is hard to fault them because they're leagues ahead of other gaming companies, but, as I always say, we criticize because we love them so much ![]()
I actually wouldn't call Dorian's justification of slavery weak, unless I haven't explored all conversation paths with him. He actually is fairly defensive, seeing Lavellan's accusations as accusations against his entire homeland, and Dorian is VERY patriotic. I think he basically says, (paraphrasing obviously lol) "Sure, we have slaves, but you have alienages, and is that any better?" To which the obvious answer is, YES!!!!!! Oh, Dorian. *shakes head*
(And I know I complain a lot about Dorian lol but don't worry, friends of Dorian, although I do think he was not the best way to represent Dragon Age's first gay companion, and I like my modded mohawk'd mustache-less version than the default version, he still a great character... I like characters with controversial views, i.e. Cullen!! But DAI brushed all Cullen's previous issues under the rug, and didn't give us a chance to really battle Dorian on the slavery issue)
EDIT: I don't think I ever encountered this Bevin kid in either of my playthroughs...
