Yes it's about that damned fic that's changing the course of my tumblr blog.

 

In this fandom sometime it really feels like the kind of mentality, if I can't have it then no one should. Saying it on a personal post and rant for 40000 words is their own bussiness but to bring it to others...

 

In any case I won't stop drawing what I really feel because well, some images do need to get out from the head.

Good! You'd break my heart if you stopped drawing (not really but it would make me sad not to see it anymore.)

Actually, Ceru's one of our artists, . And apparently some idjits vented at her because they don't like AU happy endings? I dunno, everyone else loved it.

I figured. What I meant is the anon is right so far as that it sucks when someone doesn't respond to what you're writing or creating, but that's why you have to keep doing what you're doing. Ceru should just ignore it (I know great advice ) and keep making art for what she likes. Also anons are a-holes

I would prefer Tal'Vashoth or the child of Tal'Vashoth... with Sten and Bull I'm a little tired of the Qunari. (Forever mourning Maraas not being a companion or LI, even though DAI probably would have uglied him up)

I would too. I'd rather not have to deal directly with someone in the Qun again, and I'd love to hear things from the other side. I mean, we got to play a child of a Tal'Vashoth in DAI, but really got absolutely no sense of their background.

There are just so many VERY young people in fandom in general, and especially on mediums like Tumblr and Deviant Art. It can make fandom difficult. Peru, your work is fabulous. Anons can kick rocks.

 

It's why I enjoy this thread more than Tumblr  (I'm an even bigger creepy lurker on Tumblr...)--y'all are super interesting and engaging while being genuinely sensitive to social issues without being self-righteous a la the white high schoolers/undergraduates on Tumblr. No toxic nonsense, canon-bullying, whitewashing, etc., etc., on this board. I love y'all (in a weird, hanging-out-on-the-edge-of-the-field sorta way.)

But judging from the number of slash I have lately it's just another drop in the glass TBH. Yesterday I got an anon not being really happy on my fanarting only a very popular Solavellan writer who does receive regularly some fanart and ignoring the rest of the world. Anon basically tells me how unfair it is to give more to people who already receives so much and some people have none and is ignored etc. It's not really a "hate" but more like "this is really unfair". I just deleted it because the writer's mutual O.o. From the way it's phrased, it feels like anon must be a writer too... probably.

 

I don't know what to think anymore. I'm seriously considering avoiding these kind of jealousy the easiest way is just to do it like as if it's a closed, private fandom. Do the drawing, send them via mail/private messages to a trusted number of people. I know that this is probably taking the logic "wrongly" since guess that fanartists are supposed to fanarting everyone's fic or what? Because TBH, I'm not an artwork machine

 

Why do that anon send it to me those kind of messages is still a mystery, there are tons of better fanartists out there who fanart fics, do all of them receive this kind of message daily?

ohmygod, Ceru. I can't believe you're getting this kind of crap. The attitude that fanartists somehow owe something to the world just shocks me. No one can dictate what you do with your talent and your free time. You create what personally moves you, unless someone's paying you a commission. It's certainly not your job to run through the fandom and distribute free (FREE!) fanarts to all the fifty thousand billion fanfics in the world in order to ensure everyone feels valued. You're not the frakking Dragon Age Fanart Easter Bunny (altho that image alone makes me laugh).

Agree, I totally forgot, actually that our Adaar was Tal-Vashoth. LOL Obviously, I haven't played one yet, but I think I may next. I've seen such lovely, fierce f!Adaar Inquisitors on tumblr! Plus, add that awesome red rope outfit from the Spoils of the  Qunari? Oh. Yes.

lol! Well, I don't really go for the skin baring armor - too reminiscent of old style gaming in which all female armor was basically a chain mail bikini...

 

 I really liked my m!adaar, I just got side-tracked and didn't get back to him. But the only personal content are a few war table missions from one of your fellow mercs (admittedly funny letters) that don't give you any sense of who you were except as a merc.

Yeah, I know what you mean, and normally I don't either... except in this case, I love that it bares all her freakin awesome muscles and she just looks badass. Altho, it might create some cognitive dissonance to see it on a tank warrior build. LOL But then, I love the avvar mud n' nothin' armor, too. Partially because I just honestly can't imagine fighting without a bra on. LOL So I'm convinced there's something special about the mud.

I don't mind dressing my female OR male characters in skimpy outfits so long as it's MY CHOICE, ya know? Like in Dragon's Dogma, I sometimes dress my female warrior in full on heavy gear; she looks like a beast. Then sometimes I go full on Amazon; she's showing tons of skin alongside her rock hard muscles and just looks awesome. Now my male sorcerer, he's pretty much always showing tummy

 

But no, totally respect not wanting to do that with one's female characters, not when we've had chainmail bikinis shoved down our throats for so long.

So, does anyone have a preference for which voice to use when romancing Cullen? I'm still trying to decide, and haven't been able to find many videos where they use Sumalee's voice for their Inquisitor + a Cullenmance.

In general I prefer Sumalee because I can only hear Traynor for the other voice. My lone female character is a Cadash with Sumalee's awesomely rich and sultry voice.

 

EDIT: Since Cullen is race (and gender) gaited the reason you only hear the English voice is probably because American voices tend to be reserved for dwarves and qunari.

Oh, I don't mind those outfits in a non-combat situation - I'd love to freak out the Orlesians at Skyhold by running around there in not much more than mud. But I have too many years of having the chainmail bikinis forced on me by games to find anything amusing in it myself - it's still a delightful novelty to me to see my female warriors in armor that looks like it might actually be functional. I might eventually have fun putting a mage or even a rogue in something like that...but it'll probably take me another 10 years of realistic to let go of 25 years of aggravation with women's armor in computer games and fantasy art.

LOL Oh, I feel your pain. Mostly, I'm just SO GLAD we have a choice (like MMG said [yes I'm calling you that because I'm feeling nostalgic with Danny in the thread]), and I can put her in hardcore armor, or froo froo naked armor depending on my mood and current headcanon.

Hehehe I only use AWR's voice too and TBH she's really great for both my Lavellan girls. Although I actually hear Luthiel's way of speaking quicker and lighter and with more intonation and very playful, while Revas is really AWR but much quieter and more gravity. They romance Cullen & Solas respectively.

 

I remember looking at some Cullen romance with Sumalee's quizzy at youtube. Not my cup of tea but I'll post the link here if I manage to find it.

Yeah the Dragon Age forums are still fairly tame though compared to the Mass Effect forum. I go in there to lose hope in humanity Sorry that happened to you MMG *Hugs*

 

You know a part of me is sad I don't have someone to speculate about being in DA anymore. I was so attached to getting Cassandra and Cullen in that when we finally did I didn't have anyone else to think about. I mean if this was Inquisition we would have had two pieces of concept art by now AND some "leak" to go with it. Still I'm glad I have the thread to come back to to talk with my buddies about my hopes and dreams so far as the games go

I know. It's almost like I no longer have a horse in the game. Cullen's story is pretty much done. Solas will of course feature... but that's a sure thing (and he may be a full on villain next time ). I am anxious about my Solavellan closure, but I'm more despondent than hopeful. Nevertheless, once we get a morsel or two to chew on, I bet the excitement will ramp up again. The revelations about elves, dwarves, and titans OH MY! could spell very cool things.
