LOL I think that would have happened in my son's playthrough, too... except that he skipped Sten and Leliana altogether! LOL I had to make him roll back his save and do Lothering again. He's seven, so he pretty much prefers running around and killing things over all the chitty chat chat. I also had to walk him through Alistair's disapproval of him killing Connor in order to maintain his friendships. At least I finally taught him the 'save before you talk to anyone at camp' metagaming technique for max approval.

How old is yours?

They've always called them followers, though, in all three games. I think BW's plan for these particular followers was just different this time around.

Oh good my son is 6, he'll be 7 pretty soon though in May...I just didn't want to out myself letting my son play Bioware games if yours was a teenager or something haha. I'm glad we are on the same page here though...I figure as long as he doesn't romance anybody there isn't anything TOO age-inappropriate lol.

He skipped Leliana, but when he was leaving Lothering he saw Sten and I told him he could free him lol. I wish he'd have asked me a little more for help but the damage was already done so all I could do was sit and pout about Alistair, heh. Mine also prefers the running around and killing aspect over the talking, but I like that he has to read the options, good practice! I need to remind him about saving...sometimes he will turn off the game forgetting to save too, he doesn't seem to mind but it's painful to me haha. But alas, he hasn't played for a while so I haven't been able to teach him about that...I'll have to remind him about it xD I haven't been playing DAO much lately and I think he just gets inspired to play when he sees me play it~

As for the Followers thing, I didn't know that about the other games...I'm a relative Bioware newbie (got into Mass Effect last summer...June/July and DAI in November...DAO just a couple months ago) so I wasn't around for all the promo stuff about the older games. In fact the first time I heard of the DAI crew as "Followers" was in December when I went to Gaider's DA panel at GaymerX and heard him use the term. Before that I wasn't sure what to call them (such as squadmates when referring to the similar cast of characters in ME).

Personally I've always called them "companions." Not sure where that term came from!

That's more what I would have assumed they'd be called for DAO and DA2, that makes a lot of sense.

LOL I understand your hesitance at admitting that! Poor Number One Son has sort of grown up hearing about Dragon Age (he's been rolling his eyes at my obsession with Cullen since he learned how to roll his eyes LOL), so he's been pretty keen to play, particularly now that he styles himself as a "gamer" as well. But I also like that there's a lot of reading, particularly in DA:O, which is good for a second grader.

The devs called them followers for all three games, but I don't think we knew that until Inquisition. In most other BioWare games I think they were called companions (by the fans). In the Star Wars MMO they were called companions until the most recent expansion.

Personally I think the problem with the current companions is that they always seemed so busy like everyone has said. The game really makes you feel like they're managing their networks and only once in a while have time for some roof cookies, a drink or a game of Wicked Grace. Also, in comparison with the other games these characters don't live/interact with each other as much as the past two games.

In Origins we had the camp which constantly reminded us that the companions lived in close proximity with one another. In DA2 whilst they weren't in close quarters we were presented with each companion occasionally popping up in someone else's area or hearing them talk about (in banter) mundane things like going to the bar and not liking the swill they got last time. Inquisition had some of that banter, but just the pacing between getting any of that or ANY companions interacting outside of the "wilds" was too few and far between.

Personally I felt connected to each of the companions as friends, but more so connected through a common cause and later in Trespasser as veterans than as buddies/mates as we got in DA2.

I'm hoping in DA4 that with (I suspect) the change to a smaller organization we can have some of those character moments we got in DA2 that united the characters as friends/rivals/frenemies.

Oh, yeah. There's a reason everyone tells you to get all the sleep you can first (I think I'm still catching up sleep on my first, over 30 years ago :P ) Things are pretty good here.

Congrats on the new addition! Babies will wear you out and make you question your sanity but it's so very worth it.

Agree.... aside from the one point in Bull's romance arc when the darling Inquisitor was just getting dressed post nookie, Bull is sprawled out comfortably naked and every single person you know chooses that moment to come chat. No knock, no "are you decent?" . Best. Scene. Ever.  So I guess Inquisition had the interaction but we only got to see the fun stuff. lol

Aw, I'm sorry. Yeah, naptime used to be my most favorite, so that sounds even more exhausting. But! This too shall pass. Some day. I mean, eventually they turn 18 and move out! In the meantime, also take care of you! <3

I'm not sure which one you mean. But if it's the red one with the white tower (?) it's DA: The Last Court, that web based game right before DA:I came out.

Just as a reminder, we try to keep the artist credit with their art, since it's so easy for them to get separated in this day and age of Google images and pinterest that repost their stuff without credit. I don't recall who posted the many Cullen in Mass Effect mod shots ( want to say it was geekremix for a bunch, but ), but the fanart is by LilyRutherford: http://lilyrutherfor...-asked-me-about

He is adorable! My first had colic, I didn't sleep for three months. My second slept so much we kept checking to make sure she was breathing. At least when you get the sleep resistant one first, you understand what you're getting into the second time. The other way around is a worse shock. They always assume they just have to do everything the same way as the first time. Nope.

Or could be the Jade Empire one?

Gosh that Cullen Shepard looks so great. It's so hard to make a nice-looking Shepard. Too bad ME series never bothered to give controller support for ME PC so I'll never be able to play modded ME.

About the Iron Bull scene, I personally didn't find it very funny at all (I found very little about the game funny; the Wicked Grace scene in particular is painfully awful); however, I do prefer actual romances instead of joke romances... not that Bull doesn't care for you, but I mean, I like the drama and the angst versus the comedic "we're just messin' around in bed" type stuff. Yet somehow I always get stuck with that option lol (hello Zevran).

The controls (for ME3 at least) on the PC aren't so bad, I just started playing it/games in general on the PC and I find it better/easier in some ways than with a controller. It's a bit of a learning curve for sure, but it's not too bad...

EDIT: That being said I am also scared to mod...especially ME3 which is rather complicated x_X;;

I'm sure I could get used to it, but unfortunately my PC is hooked up to my living room TV, so I can't really sit down with a keyboard and mouse ^^ I basically bought it to replace my 360 because I like to game in the living room with a controller.

Nah don't be afraid of modding, besides, nothing can be more complicated and headache inducing than DAI was  I can't imagine playing games unmodded now; I surely wouldn't have played DAI more than once without mods, and Skyrim, well, I had originally bought that for 360 and only played it for four months or so. Thanks to mods I just love wandering through the glorious foliage and the beautiful cities and also staring at my freaking gorgeous wood elf (thank you modders hahaha). And then of course there's the Sims; again, can't imagine playing The Sims with only base game hair and clothing... bleh.

Alright, this is probably the silliest question in the world, but what hair/skin/eye color do you like to give your Cullenmancing Inquisitors? I'm determined to go for him in my next playthrough but I'm still wrapping my head around who this Inquisitor is, what her values are, what kind of personality she has, etc. It usually helps if I can visualize what she looks like and go from there, but this time there's no inspiration. Bah!

So what kind of appearance do you think makes a nice contrast or complement to Cullen? XD
