Also I don't think it's a bad thing if more people are playing the games. And old BSN could be just as awful then as it sometimes is now...
Yeah all the lore geeks are on tumblr now
As for Tumblr, I like/loathe it. It's great for quickly sharing your fandom interests when you need a higher character count than Twitter provides but it also seems ideal for building an echo chamber. And Tumblr has its share of drama and it gets baaaaaaad!
Especially this fandom
Hence why I only follow folks from this thread and a few select others who are awesome that I met there. I don't follow anyone who's negative... people who post/reblog fandom drama... I'll put them on probation
Then if they keep doing it, boop! unfollow. It isn't personal, but tumblr is my happy space on the web. My place to view pretty elves and cute anime boys and cats of all shapes and sizes.
Well yeah this thread in particular felt more personal when there were like all of 10 of us posting lol We were lucky this was a good group. I came here to escape another character thread, where it was basically ruled by a few... not so nice people. It goes both ways.
I've found that it's just no good thinking back to the "good ole days." I used to feel such nostalgia for an anime forum I used to hang out at. I made some really good friends there, or so I thought. We would chat for hours, just have a freaking blast together. Then time went by... people left... a lot moved to this fancy new website called "Tumblr"
For a long long time I longed for those old times. I still follow some of those people on facebook, and it is kind of weird watching from afar as they live out their "real" lives lol Time marcheth ever forward...
Yeah I wish tumblr was better...I miss live journal... :C
I try to stay away from the drama (well, I mean I DO stay away from it) but it sucks because it makes it really hard to have a conversation with anybody you don't already know...have to walk on eggshells sometimes. That being said though I made a lot of really nice friends from Tumblr so it sort of evens out, I just tag things I don't want to see and get rid of the occasional person who brings the drama, which isn't too often, I mostly end up hearing about it from the fringes. As long as you cultivate a good group of people on your dash you shouldn't see too much negativity. Also get the Tumblr Savior extension for Chrome...lifesaver lol...I have a block list a mile long but it really helps with the sanity!
Yeah... =/ I can't help wondering... "Have we really said and done and explored every possible aspect of Cullen there is? Surely not!"
Yet, I'm not sure this is unique to our thread. It seems all of BSN is slowing down. Like Bioware broke through its cult status and is more widely played by gamers. It's lost that intimacy it once had.
It's also cyclic. DA:I is bigger than either DA2 or DA:O were, but DA folks always leave BSN after the game is out, the speculation is done, the swooning dies down, and they're onto the next Big Thing. Tumblr has the advantage of multiple fandoms but has its equal amounts of dramaz. It happened after DA2 in the previous version of our thread. It was a ghost town until it started to pick up again as hopes for DA3 mounted, and we gathered more people. Our biggest dramatic change was moving from our safe space in the DA2 forums to here in primetime DA:I land. I wonder sometimes still if that was a mistake, but  it is what it is. This has all happened before, and it will all happen again.
As for Cullen, I do also think there's not much left to say. There were so many possibilities after DA2 and he was so polarizing. Now the game has answered all those questions, albeit not satisfactorily in all cases. Those questions that remain are more along the lines of ... what color will he paint his and the IQ's nursery? LOL  ![]()

Indeed. Plus there's the fact that Bioware released almost no info about MEA, so it's both sections are 'waiting' for news. After E3 the forum will be more lively, which will affect the DA section as well.

Also a good point. I had the impression that most folks are over in the MEA section, but I haven't stopped by myself. E3 is soon...?

There are more people I think, but it still pales compared to when the site is full of people after they release trailers and infos continuosly.
Bioware will be present at the EA play the 13th and 14th of June, so there's where info about MEA or other Bioware stuff will be shown, though something can be still be shown at E3, maybe some the game will be playable in the stands.
Actually, BioWare's more likely to be on EA PLAY (June 12th).

I was referring to EA Play (I checked the date and it said it's on 13-14th, maybe I'm wrong). EA will be in E3 in some ways though, so other Bioware stuff might be seen there. The big news on MEA will be on EA play, though.
Awesome. Thanks Rascoth and EK!

It's 12-14th in LA and 12th in London. In both cases press conferences take place on 12th.

I wandered in with the crowd about 2 years ago when the speculation was getting high and stayed, so I wasn't around for that last dead time between games. I wasn't surprised that most of the crowd drifted away fairly quickly, though at least some people drop back in from time to time. It's true that since there isn't likely to be much about Cullen in the future that it's a bit slow now, though even the Solas thread looks like it has slowed down a lot, and if anyone has stuff to speculate on, it's that thread.
So, what will happen to the Cullen thread when they set up a DA4 forum (I got here after the move last time?) Will we try to keep the thread going? Or just kind of go our separate ways to new threads that interest us? ![]()
Edit: Unless it's on Sunday, I'll have to count on the rest of you to let me know if there's anything interesting at E3. I'll be tied up in meetings on Monday and Tuesday this year.
If you guys want we could also create a skype chat group, and chat periodically instead of coming here...idk if you are all open to that but then we don't have to keep it super on topic either. Because I definitely want to chat with you guys, but was way late to the game having only played a DA game for the first time in November (DAI)...then I started DAO...then DA2 just about a month ago. So I mean I wish we had more of a banter going here! I am still bursting with wanting to talk about DA lol

DA and also ME which I'm currently replaying. M!Shenko is helping me deal with my Stucky UST (just saw Civil War
)
I will have more time for chatting now that summer vacay has started, so sure ![]()

ME is my first and true love haha...I actually feel a bit bad because the first time I ever played DA was on N7 day...I was going to play ME3 Multiplayer all day but I had just bought DAI and was itching to start it lol ^^;; But I'm relatively new to ME as well...I only started playing it in June or July of last year...but I'm making up for lost time big time lol
Want me to start the chat?
I have the ME trilogy and I plan on playing it (for the first time ever) as soon as I wrap my first DAI playthrough. I'm finally ready to start the Winter Palace quest , Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts I think is the name? And I did enough of the recommended quests for the next after that. I've just been delaying it until I have several hours to play uninterrupted. I usually only have an hour or two - if any. So I'll probably be in here, or maybe start an ME topic, to squee about the game as I play. =DDA and also ME which I'm currently replaying. LOL You and everyone else, pretty much by definition. Except R2. R2 abides.I wandered in with the crowd about 2 years ago when the speculation was getting high and stayed, so I wasn't around for that last dead time between games.
It will depend if there still is a Cullen thread. That's still a billion years away. They won't even set up a DA4 section of the forums for a while, and then they don't create the character section until way into development. So I'm not exaggerating, for once, when I say that's years off.So, what will happen to the Cullen thread when they set up a DA4 forum (I got here after the move last time?) I know I'm a broken record, but this has been tried many times in the past... to erm, very mixed success, I will say. Private groups on the old and new BSN. Semi-private chat services elsewhere. Skype chats. All it usually does is further fragment the group, and in the (very) odd case, create strife and bad feelings. But in a few cases it has fostered genuine long term friendships. If you guys want we could also create a skype chat group, and chat periodically instead of coming here...idk if you are all open to that but then we don't have to keep it super on topic either. But when the time comes, who knows. We lost something pretty special when we moved here, so I think that's a bit of a cautionary tale.
I think the thread can still continue in the DAI section without problems. Companion threads continue, although they obviously aren't as frequented as during development or after release.
Oh, I know the thread itself will still technically exist, just as our previous three threads still exist. But they've all been consigned to oblivion since we moved all the people to this one here. The same is slowly happening with this one. So the question remains essentially whether there will be enough people left from our current thread to make it worth moving.I thin the threat can still continue in the DAI section without problems. Companion threads continue, although they obviously aren't as frequented as during development or after release.

Holy crap. I actually totally forgot about that. Thanks for bringing up a very, very bad memory LOL Yeah never mind; I think I will stay right here
If anyone wants to talk about me behind my back go right ahead lol
