So, in relieved celebration, a new chapter!

Fool’s Errand by R2s Muse

Chapter 26: Ten (ao3) (ffn)

Summary: Three years after allowing Marian Hawke to escape Kirkwall, a disgraced Cullen is sent on a desperate quest to find her. Can he earn her trust in time to regain what he’s lost and finally redeem them all for the role they played in igniting the mage-templar war? Set in 9:40, after the events of DA2 and Asunder, now slightly AU to DA:I. Now rated M.

Chapter Summary:  The players start to assemble in Denerim for the peace talks, but Hawke is distracted by her desperate search for a missing Cullen. Meanwhile, Cullen learns more than he wanted to know about Hawke’s previous incarceration three years previous.

A/N: I’m going to start post these more frequently now that I’m just about done with the series. The epilogue is with my beta, so the end is nigh! Woo hooo!

Fair enough. I'm glad he's back safe. The rest is personal and none of our business.

I'm glad all is well. 'Tis a shame Jeff felt the need to speak for Jonny. Is this what it feels like to be had by a used car salesman?

Edit: Stupid quirk of my mind: Jonny uses the word "sacrosanct" and I suddenly recall the Insane Emperor Ghost in Jade Empire who first brought it to my awareness. And then, of course, I get the itch to launch the game again. lol!

I really should continue playing beyond the first part of Jade Empire, rather than getting distracted with another DAO/2/I playthrough.

Since he's been in a ton of Bioware games, did Jonny do any voicework for Jade Empire? Haven't heard him in any part I played (that I noticed?)

I know. I started it when we all got it for free... and I got stuck on some of the controls. Once I found the solution, I never went back.   :crying: And now, of course, I doubt I'll remember the answer. Pfft.

(edit: and, not according to IMDB)

It's a good game. Well worth the time. But I don't think Jonny was in JE at all. He was in a Star Wars title though.

I assumed that whoever  Jeff is he disclosed the information with the best of intentions - from a place of genuine fear and worry and love.

I sup[pose time will tell. In the meantime glad all is well.

Yeah, he was Micah in KOTOR2. I only completed it once with a male Exile, so I got Brianna rather than his character. He was a few NPCs in TOR as well, enough so that his voice is what I hear whenever I think of a generic Imperial officer.

It's one of the few he didn't as far as I know.

Jade Empire is a very good and underrated game, imo. You should give it a try.  :)

That's what I told myself because I did find it kind of strange this friend of jonny's I'd never heard of, was the PR person for the whole thing. But I usually only follow the celeb I'm interested in keeping up with, not every person within their circle, so I had no clue who Jeff was but he was vouched for as a friend according to Shackleshotgun's sources.

As I said over on the other thread, I can understand Jonny's anger at having someone leak personal matters or misinformation out there. Still, assuming that Jonny was indeed missing, Jeff is someone he knows and he disclosed the information to us with the best of intentions, he should be applauded for his concern... even if his candor left much to be desired by overstepping his bounds when it came to respecting Jonny's private life.

Of course, Jeff could simply be someone with no connection to Jonny whatsoever, who made up the entire missing persons report for attention and the entire situation was something Jonny only learned after he got back from spending the past few days on vacation?

I guess we might never know the details, nor do we need to. At long as he's safe, that's all that matters.

I did wonder how he (Jonny) would feel when he did get back and find that information had been shared (false or otherwise). I know I wouldn't really appreciate it and he is a very public figure so any thing he can keep private should be well guarded and that's the kind of information that should only be his to share.

Cool article in the Iquisitr about Jonny's temporary disappearance - possitive and we even get some credit. (I know what a fitting mag to run it right.)

At least Cullenites are being portrayed as a positive thing for him - that's good press for all of us. :)

True, it is positive. But once again, I'm surprised at what passes for journalism in the gaming world. This whole business had been odd, top to bottom.

I still chuckle, tho, that the term 'cullenites' is still being used that way... given that I coined it and we told Greg/Jonny about it. Still too meta.

Just forwarded this link to my boyfriend.

I feel kind of good being involved in this when it happened, but I'm sure he'll take it as yet more proof that I'm a sad obsessed fangirl who needs to step away from the DA fandom and play other video games. (Never!)

To be fair, it's amazing at what passes for journalism for almost any kind of media. I still cringe every time I see an article about what this actress was wearing to this event or how many pounds that singer has lost.

As odd as this whole business was, I think it's somewhat worth reporting. At least it's rooted in something potentially serious (someone thought to be missing and possibly in danger or dead) and involved a lot of people getting together to help in any way they can, or at least show that they care. I think that's much more news-worthy than the thousands of articles out there making catty little comments about some hapless celebrity's fashion mistake, or cherry-picking ancient Twitter posts to drag their name through the mud.

I'm not sure it was worth reporting though. Certainly the fans' helpfulness and caring is! I meant the missing case. If Jonny was missing, it would be but given his denials of everything Jeff said, I'm starting to think this was either a hoax or over-reaction. Jonny might well have gone out camping or something and Jeff claimed the house was found open. He claimed Jonny was manic. He claimed Jonny missed important appointments. But no one else seemed to have the same concern. None of Jonny's closer friends mentioned it. Nor his wife. I found that strange but hadn't paid much attention because I'd been working all night and hadn't gone to bed until almost noon.

The fact that there was a missing persons case number gave it legitimacy but that too might have only been due to Jeff fraudulently opening a case. I feel stupid for not thinking of THAT sooner.

I think we were had by someone who thought it'd be a grand ol' time to stir up the fans and make claims about Jonny's sanity, for whatever reason. Or Jeff was just gravely mistaken. I'll allow for that possibility.

I remember when you offered up Cullenites as a suggestion -way back when- for what to call ourselves. There were many other, more ridiculous monikers offered up after that. Some stuck for a few days and I'm like "I think Cullenites works". So I started using it even though it wasn't official yet for a while as we debated other ideas. For a time, it seemed "Cullenites" might have faded away. Some tried to make "Cullenistas" stick within our thread but they didn't go into other threads with it like I did with "Cullenites". Every time I spoke of the fans, I used it. And I was everywhere, engaging in debates about mages and giving "why does everyone like Cullen?" troll threads what-for. By the time anyone else thought to do the same with a different nick, "Cullenites" was beginning to spread through BSN. Lol! When it came time for consensus, "Cullenites" seemed like the obvious choice.

I feel like I did my part. ;)

Edit: Today is THE day! I hope. Other than those stupid shards for The Fire Captured, I have all recommended quests done for Wicked Eyes and most of what I need for the following quest. Hopefully I'll finish this game today. *crosses fingers* And then promptly start a Cullenmancing rogue! Ha! But I shouldn't get ahead of myself. *ahem*

LOL Yeah, cullenites was always my word from the beginning, but we never really did come to an explicit consensus. We had that funny conversation about what to call ourselves (cullenators still stands out fondly! ), and never made a decision, even in the end. I just kept using my word, as you did, and eventually cullenites just stuck. It really wasn't until we told Jonny about it and he started using it as a call to action on twitter that the whole rest of the world did, for better or worse.

Ah, memories. :P My annoying little contribution to the fandom.

I recall our thread trying to hold consensus once or twice. Never did work out though. ;) I remember "cullenators"! Lol! That was so ridiculous! I loved it! As a joke, not as a serious nick. I love that Jonny picked up on Cullenites though.

And your contribution to fandom isn't annoying! It's our fandom name! And it's a good one. Hardly annoying. It was vital!
