On the topic of DA2's LI, it was mostly fine for my canon since even if romanced I do envision my canon Hawke's relationship with Isabela a bit more 'open' then the other LI, but it was a bad move in my opinion to not show them. At least Fenris and Merrill, I can see Anders needing to hide.

I recall Hellion was quite fond of Fenris

Exactly! I had thought it was well known that I was a Fenris lover lol. He's one of my favorite companions, bar none.

I'm not gonna lie, but I kinda burst out laughing when I read this. Ma'am, I've romanced Fenris every single DA2 playthrough I've run, which numbers about 10 times, last I checked. I'm about the biggest Fenris fan out there.
WRONG!!! I've got around 15 Fenris playthroughs ![]()
And in order to force myself to try the other romances I had to not recruit his skinny ass!

From one perspective, I can possibly understand why Fenris wasn't shown. From a financial perspective, it might have been a tad too costly to have Fenris show up, since Gideon Emery is also doing a decent amount of lines for Samson, so it might have been a bunch to pay him to do two major voices in the game.
As for having Fenris not be there, I kinda like my headcanon of Fenris showing up to Weisshaupt to give Hawke one hell of a right hook.

lol Well, an RP is an RP... one things people seem to forget is that kids can start being interested in sex at a very young age; it's normal for, say, a 15 year old to start experimenting. It isn't KOSHER and you can't try to publish anything like that without being arrested (unless you're the author of Clan of the Cave Bear... for some reason I wanna say Ayla was underage) but personally I love writing teens and young folks and yeah sexuality can and often is a part of their lives, so... now 11 years old is a bit young, so I hear you
I'm struggling with the ages of my characters in the story I'm working on (the one I sent you a summary for). Like you I think I naturally gravitate towards writing younger characters, but then that becomes a problem when I try to include romance. My main character went from 19 to 17, but then I realized he may "get busy" with his spouse at some point, so I forced myself to make him turn 18 during the course of the novel. But then I started to feel concerned about the age discrepancy between him and his future husband, so I dropped future husband's age from 25 to 23. And after a point it's like you sit back and ask yourself, Who even ARE these characters anymore??

Oh and to my last post I meant to add a picture of Fenris that someone created in DAI (obviously using mods, but still):
http://bemyamatus.tu...-look-so-grumpy
Which makes me think FB3 is just really really amazing and capable of creating gorgeous people, BioWare's inability to create hair notwithstanding.
Hmm actually one of the narrative RP was with a girl who agrees to let me try the real characterization of the boy in Hogwarts AU. So I keep him really in character with translated backstory etc and it's not a very happy one. And it's based on a real life little boy with similar problem I get to observe, all the ticks etc2 although tbh it's just a freakingly heartbreaking one. I never see a child that nervous and timid to that point... He is cute as hell but the way his family treat him is just... I never see a child looking that vulnerable and nervous and quiet as hell. When you see that kind of thing it's rather hard to... ignore. I just keep seeing him in my head.
This is from the clip (I see him like this actually, slightly darker hair)
It's just feel so FREAKING wrong to...
About RP Idk how others do it? The 3 people I do it with do the RP for the reason of wanting to Flesh characters for some reasons so... we do it narrative? Like we do it in prose form that we put in AO3. It's really not just *smut smut smut/fluff fluff fluff * like somehow most people do? (Idk how to do that?) Those RP I do have game-over point and end up freaking dark O.o
Guess that ages are less relevant once you past the certain age? I mean in the case of immortal People, 1000 years of difference is probably small... For someone at 35, dating someone at 40 is small... But a 16 years old dating 11 years old? O.o So why not age everyone up? Just an idea :3
And sorry for the OT XD

Heh, I like him a lot as a friend for my canon Hawke, and he's the only LI in DA2 I romanced, other then Isabela. Merrill gave me too much a sister vibe for both me and all the Hawkes I created. I might try a romance Anders playthrough only if I'm in the mood of a tragedy one.

He could've been hovering in the background with a cloak half-obscuring his face. Varric notices and says something like, "You brought Blondie here with you? Are you crazy??"
What sucked even more was the half-assed explanation they gave. Like Hawke just snuck out one night, and the love interest was like "Oh well, guess s/he's gone" the next morning. ![]()

Yeah, I forgot about that. Though I don't think the DA2 LI woudl've needed that much lines.
On the Fenris topic, I'm kind of worried he and Merril might join Solas in his quest ![]()

Yeah, I agree. As I said, it mostly work with Isabela, but only if you have in the mindset a open relationship.
Overall the all Hawke-related part of DAI could've been handled much better.

Understood.
I find his character interesting, despite his (huge) flaws. Though they really made it too obvious to the players that he wasn't a Warden.

...I'd argue that Merrill would have more sense than that. It would depend on how much of the truth Solas is showing to modern elves, particularly about the culture Solas wishes to resurrect. I imagine that since Solas has control of the network, Merrill's mirror attempts might have put her on Solas's radar.
Fenris wouldn't be fooled. An elven mage wanting to resurrect an ancient elven society? Nah, I don't think Fenris would even remotely be interested in that. Especially if he learns that the cost would be the rest of Thedas burning (including Hawke)? Nope.

Frostbite is a really good engine, and overall the CC of DAI is good...if hairs and beards are out of the picture >_>.
I hope Bioware manage to fix whatever problem they had in rendering hairs, because the contrast between them and the rest of the face, or body is really irritating.
They need to do an employee-swap with Naughty Dog to show 'em how to do hair in next gen graphics right lol.

Re: Fenris sweet maker I love that elf ![]()
Ps. I don't think he'd go with Solas, he doesn't have any special love for elves even though he is one and Solas is a mage. Bent on destruction. I can't see it lol. I DO think Fenris will/should show up in DA4 though, just not on Solas' side.

Yeah, Fenris makes less sense then Merrill, though I don't think Solas would actually reveal the consequences of his plans to the elves, expecially since we don't know exactly if and how the latter will be affected by it. Regardless you're right about Fenris, and it was more a fear then a logical reasoning. Though I doubt they'll bring again Hawke and his companions in main plots.

Agree with Elu, now Merrill might be enchanted by the idea at first and jump in feet first, because she's such a nerd when it comes to elven history and recovering the past glory. But she's a very clever thing, and she'd figure out how end game eventually.
As for Fenris, agreed as well, way way too smart, but also wouldn't interest him in the slightest. "Why do I owe allegiance to you or to your so-called people?" I can imagine him saying to Solas (with the usual huff of disdain in his gravely voice). And pledge his allegiance to a MAGE? No way! Heck, pledge his allegiance to ANYONE? Fenris is like Dobby now, you know; he's a free elf ![]()

I'll stay out of the Fenris discussion just because I have no real attachments to DA2 characters...
But hair and beards. Frostbite is lovely, but somehow the hair, eyebrows, and beards were better in DAO, sigh. I think they desperately need someone on their design team who is really into hair irl. I'm not a huge mod user, but yeah, hair and eyebrow mods, whew! ![]()

They gotta like... get some young folks up in there or something. I don't know. The stuff they consistently put out... the mullets, the weird bangs, just... I almost wonder if they aren't staring at the covers of 80s era fantasy novels and basing their hair off THAT.
You know what would make their life easy, call up some of the most popular modders, offer them a decent freelance wage for a few weeks and have them work their magic!

It honestly was a great discussion until one particular individual jumped in. As I always say, IGNORE those individuals instead of quoting, sniping, acting shocked, even responding to their ridiculousness. Then we can continue our awesome discussions without having to toss out warnings left and right, warnings that never apply to folks who actually hang out here - or even don't hang out, but just wanna pop in and engage in discussion about our boy. The warnings are only ever given to those who come here to disrupt the conversation, and those are the last people who could give a sh!t about a warning. They are literally here just to stir things up.
The point is more for the inevitable lurkers watching from the shadows (yes, we know you're there!! :waves:). It can't be said too many times that discussion is welcome, even arguments so long as they're civil, as I agree this one was initially.

It was a pain in the butt doing my CC, cause my men always have beards, but it was like pulling teeth trying to find a good one.
I get that they're kind of pioneering this engine, but GOD DAMN, it was frustrating lol.
I know the feeling. I was really excited in finally having good-looking beards (since both ME and DA weren't exactly good on that part), and then...yeah
Oh, this is depressing. I still haven't rolled a dude to test this out, but thinking back on the differences between Hawke's beard between the destiny trailer and DA2... this makes me sad. ![]()
