Guys, I really need help. Does anyone knows how to set FF.Net and AO3 account to be visible only to logged on user please?

 

Some... co-workers discover my nickname "Cerulione" forcefully and now I still try to beg them to keep that a secret but it can go bad. I really don't want to orphan my works that goddamit I spent THOUSANDS OF HOURS on them just for some *nculé de m*rde to ruin it. And that's not people I can afford on to go on confrontation either.

 

I don't know how you'd limit who can view your work. With AO3 you can create a new pseud and maybe move your stories over to it? But then those who know your nickname won't find your work unless they've signed up for alerts on the story. And some poking around might still reveal your stories anyway. Damn. This is a tough one.

 

Edit: On AO3 you have to go into each work work and select edit. Then scroll down to the privacy section and select "Show work only to registered users". It's a pain but you can limit the audience for each story that way.

I did that for AO3 but might end up erasing everything in FF.Net anyway. All my fanfics from Deviant Art had been deleted. My tumblr's more or less only visible to registered user.

 

I really love the comments of FF.Net probably will just screenshots it and keep it as souvenirs.

That sucks. =/ Maybe you can remove the stories' text and keep the entry as a place holder so you can keep the comments? Maybe you'll be able to restore them someday.

 

Or import to a new username but keep the old one and send PMs to all those who left reviews about the name change?

I dunno what I'd do if my coworkers found my fic accounts. They're already perilously close to it because some are on my facebook even though I use my alias Samara Draven. I've considered a new pseudonym for my fic but I've built an alter ego or online presence with my usual nick. It'd suck to have to change it after over a decade of using it. So I can sympathize with you.

Hmm, I don't think there's much you can do on ff.n, since they even show up in google searches. So many DA folks have abandoned ff.n that it may not matter as much, but who knows about other fandoms. 

 

My only suggestion for AO3 is what samara already mentioned. 

 

At some level, there's just not much you can do. I used to worry about RL folks finding my stuff, but . . . eh. If someone really wants to put two and two together, it's not that hard. I'm sorry!

I can't stand people who try to ruin a good thing for others and politely threaten a group with the host site's ToS to try and get their way - even when the page's stated rules are being followed. Why go into a group that states its nature if you know that nature isn't your thing, if you aren't going in solely to be a ****** waffle? *grumble, grumble, grumble*

It sprouted up soon after Jonny started really interacting with fans on twitter. Like once fans were officially "Cullenites" and he started doing things with us. The page can be pretty awesome. Loooooooots of appreciation for Cullen's magnificent physical form happens there.
