I'm not one for perfectly happy ever afters outside of Disney, but I have to admit, I've never not had Alistair do the DR. I've only seen the funeral scene on Youtube, and even then I'm not convinced it wasn't a heavily modded version.

This is probably one of the few times I separate myself from my character and acted as how I feel he would have acted. I had always thought my Amell was young, and was simply afraid to die. And more importantly, he didn't want to leave Zevran, the love of his life, alone.

So I got a question ... Do people think that siding with the Templars in DA2 is the "evil" way and siding with the Mages is the "good/right" way?

It really reads like it sometimes, makes me feel weird for enjoying to see all the possible outcomes and therefore joining the Templars here and there. I don't see my Pro-Templar Hawkes as evil, just having different viewpoints I guess. I do have lines that I don't cross, I never have given Fenris back or Isabela, never let my siblings get killed (except for dying in the deeproads) etc. but I have sided with Petrice, have rivaled every companion and probably have fought almost all companion at the end by now (except Varric, seeing as he sides with you by default I think and Aveline might be bugged for me or she also doesn't fight you, idk)

I really hope that in DA:I we see some more evil Mages, because DA:2 did not do a good job at showing us both of the evil sides, it pretty much just managed to show "Mages good/Templars evil .. rawr"

I don't necessarily see it as evil. I have sided with them a few times. Although all my Hawkes feel sorry for the mages, think they have it rough and they are treated unfairly. They also see the circle as necessary for some mages but the system doesn't work in its current state.

So I guess all my Hawkes are pretty much grey, in that, they will help any mage that they feel isn't a threat, to escape, like the girl in Anders quest and sometimes Emile (though he is a big question mark in whether he can look after himself). I also try to keep the 'good' templars in, like Keran and Samson and even have Carver join the templars because the more compasionate templars in has to be better.

As for siding with them at the end...it depends on whether my Hawke embraces the custodian type role she has been given and feels its better to calm the storm and keep as many safe as possible or if she really feels that Meredith and the Templars are really just going too far.

Mr. Gaider seems all for making things fair-- and inclusive, of course-- and it's because of that I really feel the NPC romances will be the bisexual ones. That way there's one NPC and one companion choice for everyone.   :wizard:

Not necessarily. I can easily seem making Cullen straight and Scribbles a lesbian.

One thing I have been thinking. If Cullen has been written by Gaider, then wouldn't it be weird if the only(?) LGBT writer on DAI is the one writing the 'straight' romances? So maybe the male Inquisitors will have a chance with Cullen after all, (or just female Inquisitors with Cassandra, which I have to admit I do want).

*pats you enthusiastically on the back* Excellent observation / pondering!! :D And really that works for Cass, too; didn't she express interest in a male mage in her anime? So both Cass and Cullen canonically like the opposite sex. (Have more to say but sending this now cause at work and am busy.)

Urgh...in Dawn of the Seeker, it seemed more like a good friend sort of thing, not necessarily romantic interest in Galyan.

Well, the only confirmed LGBT writer. Sheryl, Mary, Lukas could possibly not be straight. We just don't know.

And just because he's the only openly <?> gay writer doesn't mean he has to write non straight romances.

I feel like I'm not explaining myself right here.

I'm not saying only make the gay guy write the gay romances and vice versa. I'm just saying if they wanted to properly explore and develop a gay LI with what it means to be gay in Thedas, it might be best to have real world experiences to draw upon. But I do suppose you're right, with the way they all discuss things, they will probably have more problematic or dodgy areas removed. I think I just really want Cullen to bisexual so everyone here can romance him the way they want to, so I'm trying to think of reasons why he won't just be straight. I also kinda feel guilty for wanting the 2/2/2 split because of the way it could work out with Cullen.

Ummmm I don't mind really, but maybe if you wanna break down my personality we could do it via PM and not so publicly??

Usually I think I'm eagerly engaging in a spirited discussion or debate, while the other person things they're engaged in a verbal fight to the death. I've almost left the BSN completely... okay I was interrupted by my colleagues for a bit, and I almost started crying lol I'm feeling really overwhelmed lately, partly from here and partly from work, where it seems like nothing you do is good enough for the administration. Luckily my co-worker made me feel better :P But I'm still feeling a bit teary-eyed.

Someone give me a Cullen!!!! :P

Oh! Sorry. It wasn't meant as a breakdown, so sorry about that. You did bring it up so I just offered my general observations regarding thread dynamics. But I'm dropping it now. :)

I don't have a Cullen to give you. *sniff* :( Foruming by phone is limited that way. But have a snippet! It's a piece of fic from my intended male elf Inq playthrough. :D Provided Cullen is bi. If not, I'll just have to try and drown my fangirly sorrows in AUs. :D

Ummmm no? I've written gay characters before as a straight person. I don't think one's personal sexual preference has any standing on a character's. It has to make sense for the character.

LIKE.

I write a lot of gay characters and I'm straight.

Don't feel guilty for wanting the 2/2/2 split. I am so damn happy for it, if it means we can actually have a fully gay companion. That alone means the absolute world to me.

Sans slashes! I get so icky about actually swapping characters in AU, lol. BUT...Dragon Age w/ a HP type schooling system, but they can never leave. But they've got a castle and dragons and stuff. And, I dunno, maybe Quidditch. *kicks characters back into their fandoms* ;)

And me the same for a bisexual companion/big NPCs with relatively high chances of not falling into biphobic stereotypes. The gay companions/big NPCs too of course, (even with just Celene and Briala), but obviously the bisexual thing is more personal to me. The happiness just makes me feel guiltier though!

Yeah, I always think of the character first, before myself, and think: "does this make sense to me?" Before I write anything. I assume Bioware does the same in regards to their characters.

I'm cool to wait and see who else is romanceable other than Cullen and Cassandra, and I will plan to explore them all, but... okay, I will be cross if Dramatic Hands Guy is not an option.

I've given up on Varric. *sobs*

I so get that vibe from him, maybe I'm finally developing a gaydar. (Long overdue). 'Tis why I'm not getting excited for him as a potential LI.

One of my favorite Hawkes, Orson, I played as being mostly bemused that everyone was putting all this power into his hands. By the end of the game, his whole family was dead (except Gamlem, and Charade, if they count) and he was just done with everything. So he sided with the mages and ran away with Isabela. He was the closest I ever felt to a DA2 character.

Yeah, my Hawke was feeling pretty much Done w/the whole thing as well. I remeber a PT where I flirted w/sum characters, but never really sealed the deal. Then Leandra happened, and the only one that came see after my Hawke was Aveline. And even that was quite brusque. Just a "if you need to talk, you know where I am" kinda thing.

That's a PT where my Hawke felt totally alone. I wish they had (and hope they have more integral friendship interactions in DAI) at least showed a few of your companions coming to see after you at such a time. I mean, if it was reversed you know Hawke woulda been expected to show up and console the npc.

Maybe a flag for certain companions you take alot, and have them show up at the house. They didn't even have to say anything. Just sitting there w/Hawke in silence woulda meant alot.

Well, after that---I head canoned that my Hawke, who was usually sarcastic, became much more aggressive.

Me too,I tend to write and create a lot of characters with different sexual preferences than mine, and even different gender.
This is one of the reasons that the 2/2/2 system doesn't bother me either, although I hope people will get the opportunity to romance Cullen with either gender.
